I am so so so super pleased with the service I received today!!!!! I was a walk-in because my hairstylist was booked and had to leave the shop early and I did not know what to do... School's on Monday and she needed her hair dooooone! I called this place from a recommendation about three years ago from a friend. I just so happen to remember and it was in Sugarland from where I picked up my niece... When I called, the person answering the phone, Chelsea, was extremely accommodating and got me an appointment ASAP. She recommended a few things for me to do before I got there and even quoted me a very very reasonable price! When I arrived, I immediately noticed that the place is beautiful on the inside and they had me seated immediately as well. I didn't wait a great deal of time... Granted, I was a walk-in... So I completely understood. She got my niece in the chair and went to work. Thank God my niece is very very well behaved and she didn't cause any problems... They loved her! And my niece most definitely loves them! They were very sweet, laughing, personable, accommodating, and observant. When I tell you that she did her th-A-ng on my niece's hair! It was amazing. My niece looks so wonderful and it's a style that looks exactly like the one I showed her in the picture. So super happy I finally had the pleasure of going to hair tyme. I had a 6am appointment to get my natural hair pressed and Ayo was wonderful with my hair! I'm very tender headed and I have ALOT of hair on my head so it takes a special and patient person to tamper with it. November 2015: Joyce rearranged the schedule to squeeze me in for 5 pm. I arrived promptly at 5 and Joyce said she will be with me momentarily. As I waited in the waiting area, two men walked in and began holding a conversation with the stylist about the last time they seen each each. Keep in mind, at this point I am suppose to be in the styling chair. At 5:18, a lady walked in inquiring about some merchandise for sale in the display window and that is when she walked passed me to answer the lady's question and told me it will be a few more minutes. Now keep in mind, I'm her one and only client at this point in the salon to see her. I did not get in her chair until the conversation was finished with the two guys, which was approximately 5:45. After having her personal conversation with her two friends, she invited me to her chair. I must say She moves very quickly and efficiently when styling hair. No heat damage so I made an appointment to return in early January in spite of her lack of respect for my time. January 2016: I arrived for my 7 pm hair appointment ten mins late after working 11 hour shift, and there was a client in her chair. It looks like she just finished braiding the clients hair to apply the sew in. She told me she would be with me in a moment, but hell, I didn't think 2 hours later. After waiting over a hour, I asked how much longer, because I scheduled 7 pm with the intentions I would be in the chair at 7 pm. She said 15 more minutes which was actually 35 more minutes. I told her I'm leaving because I have to be at work at 6:30 am, Joyce had the nerve to tell me I would have to pay her $25 for last minute cancellation. This lifeless business minded person had the nerve to tell me I have to pay her because she wasted my time. Does this make sense to anyone? I know starting at 7 pm there is an additional charge for services, so since my appointment was at 7, even though I did not get into the chair until 9:02 pm, I was expecting to pay $65 plus $10 ( which is how she explained it to me). This heifer was charging me additional $10 by the hour and told me to only give her $90. I'm confused but understand she can charge whatever she wants it we went from $65 to &90, and I'm guessing she discounted it for me based on her response. I wasn't anticipating on paying $90 for a $65 service considering the 2 hour wait time. To make matters worse, my hair was so burnt I have heat damage to the root I may have to cut 2 years of hair growth for lack of professionalism. A professional with alleged 10 plus years would know how not to damage natural hair. STAY AWAY!!!! read more

I have never been treated so horribly before at a salon in my life until I went to HAIR TYME in sugarland Texas . I went there with my hair washed and blow dried I intended on getting half up half down which was 95$ but I didn't bring enough hair so I would settle for a ponytail which was the same price cool as long as it was done right . The First Lady that started doing my hair was nice she kept spraying nothing but got to be glued spray in my hair and blow drying it dry to my other hair wasn't brushing to slick it down or anything kept asking one of coworkers how to do it then said okay let's get you under the dryer I politely asked her to slick down some more so I would feel secure and it would be laid she refused and went and got her coworker then she said she would take my hair from there she was very aggressive and didn't do anything but spray more got 2 be glued no brushing either once it was finished I didn't like it I still paid was charged 9.50 to process a card payment even though they didn't have a reader it was done on one of their phone then once I left out she sent the lady that was originally doing my hair to ask me to let them take a picture of my debit card and drivers license I didn't mind showing them my card with drivers license but letting them take pictures is a little over she had stuck her hand all in my car trying to snatch it from me then after I left proceeded to text my phone lying saying I was disrespectful saying I called someone the b word because she knew I was going to post a review on them and threatened me . I want other people to be aware so they won't go through what I went through . This is literally my hair not even 2 hours after I left the shop once it dried and how they didn't really slick it down. The whole time I was there all they were doing were talking about their clients that were supposed to be coming in after me just very unprofessional I was so uncomfortable there. She let me know everything she was putting in my hair and did an awesome job with the cut. I wasn't in there all day which is a regular for me in the past. She kept to my appointment time. I love Joyce she's the true definition of a HAIR EXTRAORDINAIRE she always always does my hair exactly how I ask or if not better. I also would like to compliment her hair that she sells it's great quality. Joyce has always got me in and out with no problems I'm a very patient person so if she's running behind or late she's really good about letting you know ahead of time and she will always try and accommodate you for the inconvenience. For some time I been hunting someone to style my kids as well as my hair. I called to schedule an appointment at hair tyme because in passing my husband wrote the number down. We used them before going off of styleseat in which they no longer use. I call and schedule a appointment for a Saturday but my preference for my kids to get their hair done at the same time or close to it. So the secretary suggested me coming in at 7pm. Now I just got off at 6 but like whatever I been flying back home to get my hair done as well as my kids and would prefer a stylist here. Well after 4 hours my kids are done and the stylist says she meaning the secretary said to tell you it will be a $10 after hour charge. Now mind you I walked my kids in asked for pricing no one mentioned this. I even asked for prices over the phone she said she needed to see his hair. Ok cool. What fueled me was that I didn't request that appointment time it was suggested and never once was an up charge mentioned out of courtesy it should have been mentioned, the only thing was stated was that it's on the website but if I went to the website why would I call to schedule. I'm the type that to prevent me from doing it I'll pay what is requested. I won't be returning. Once again I'll be flying home to GA for our stylist there or fly her out here. read more

I don't like to burn bridges and I really hate to write anything negative. I usually don't base reviews off of 1st visits. I been to Joyce a few times in the past even recommended her to other people. However, this last visit I encountered she had an the biggest attitude. My whole reason for booking her was she was the earliest available and I thought I would get my hair looking right. I came in 9:30am which she called and rescheduled from 9am. Fine, as long as she's considerate about time. (I have other appointments) I had to tell her I have a makeup appointment by a certain time, she had an attitude about that but still proceeded to get me out on time. She told me she's been there since yesterday as if that was my issue. I offered to get her breakfast cause that's how I am and there is a such thing as Uber eats and I do NOT have time for an attitude. Im natural and have been able to accomplish any hairstyle with no issues. I wanted a slick back high cascading ponytail. She acted like it was impossible. This was the worst service I ever received! She fixed the front of my hair straight back. I said can you please angle my edges for the frame of my face. (I received an attitude) as she proceeded. My high ponytail looked sick and lifeless because she sewed it to the braid in the middle. I took it down when I got home and made it into a beautiful top knot bun which was much elegant and polished. I don't think I'm ever going back to her. If you don't love what you do don't do it. I visited Hair Tyme a while back. I called on a Sunday & I was told to come Monday at anytime before 6. I showed up around 5 & the young lady seemed surprised that I was there. She asked a couple of questions regarding who told me to come & who did I talk to. She got on the phone to call who I assume was the owner. After waiting for about an hour, the young lady decided to start on my hair. I don't know about anyone else but once someone touches my head at the shampoo bowl, I already know if it's going to be a bad experience or not. She never checked my scalp, asked about my hair, never asked my name before she began. It was a terrible wash. I could barely feel her scratch my scalp or massage shampoo throughout the entire head. Partly because of her fancy nails... Thank God I spray my hair with seabreeze & lift my own dandruff before I came because my hair would've been full of flakes! After I got under the dryer, the owner finally shows up & I'm thinking she's gonna take over. Nope. But she did ask me, "How was the wash?" I told her could've been better. Her response was, "Yeah. I've been telling her she needs to do better." Well, she did not take over & the young lady proceeded to style my hair. Let me tell you this flatiron process took forever!!! The owner even had to come over to correct her on how to flatiron so my hair doesn't flip at the ends. My hair still looked a mess (no shape, flipped ends, fly aways all over) when I left. The owner saw she was doing a bad job & didn't take over! After getting home, wrapping it, it came out very silky & bouncy so that's why I gave 2 stars. I paid for the service but did not leave a tip. About a month later, I wanted to give them another try with a different stylist. I called to get in on the same day & was told they didn't have anything available. The person on the phone seemed annoyed & did not offer another day or time for me to come. So, I'm done with Hair Tyme...I'm sure they have lots to offer but it's not for me. read more

So I took a day before writing the review because I was upset with my experience. Disclaimer, one of my biggest pet peeves is having my time wasted. I set a 7am appointment a few weeks ago (the process was easy, you just do it online) for this wedding I was attending. I was coming from out of town and the shop got decent reviews and was close to where I was staying. Day of the appointment I arrive about 10 minutes early, but the shop is still closed. Around 650am, I receive a phone call from the stylist saying she is running late. Now to me, that is 15 minutes at most. Around 730am, I call the stylist again to see where she is. She tells me she is about 10 minutes away. Turns out running late meant closer to 45 minutes. She offered to discount my service for the delay. I tell her I need to be gone by like 915am at the latest and she says she can do that (I have natural hair and was getting a flexi rod set). Long story short, she starts on my hair and I do not leave the shop until close to 11am. I was about 2 hours late for where I needed to be. Luckily the bride was pretty understanding. Finally thoughts: Pros: She did good work. I got a lot of compliments on my hair. She gave me a discount for the delay. She also has appointments as early as 6am. Cons: She was close to an hour late for my appointment. She could not get me out when she initially said she would. If you do not have to be somewhere at a particular time, she is worth giving a try. Joyce and her team at Hair Tyme are as dynamic as it gets! I have been a client of Joyce's for almost a year. I met her while pregnant with about 3 weeks left in the pregnancy. I wanted an easy hairstyle that would allow me to pull it up and go, look flawless, all while taking care of a newborn. I walked into her salon on a Sunday and immediately felt a lot of contractions . I tried to sit still while she completed another client's hair and just couldn't do it. I asked Joyce if I could come back later that afternoon after resting a bit to see if the contractions would subside. Well, Joyce wouldn't have it. She insisted that I return home and rest and she would travel to my house(more than 20 miles away from her salon) to give me the exact same treatment in the comfort of my own home!! She walked into my house, gave me the most amazing treatment ever, and gave me a hairstyle that required little maintenance and one that I could depend on for months after delivery!! Who does that? Joyce does!!! She not only has talented hands and the skill set of any Hollywood or High Fashion stylist she is the most caring and thoughtful stylist I have been to in a very long time!
