Have never had a bad experience here. All-gender, queer salon with great music and genuinely nice people. I've had my hair cut by great people here (Sara, Sher, you know you're amazing), and could not be happier to have recently met Hee Soo: an excellent barber who's great with curls and knows exactly how to make me feel fresh and confident. She's not a hairstylist who just does one thing, or just does "her" thing. (She's usually coming from doing some celeb's hair on set, and has the portfolio to show for it.) She really listens and delivers. Versatile, meticulous but fun, and knows how to make inspiration photos into an even better reality. When I need to do something different for a role or event, but still keep it "me," she nails it. (2026: Hairrari are still accommodating to immunocompromised and covid-cautious clients like me, are not weird about me wearing a mask and even offer to wear one when you book an appointment, and I so appreciate it. unfortunately I will not be returning. Had my second visit yesterday & the hair stylist I went to cut my hair way too short. I believe there may have been a bit of miscommunication & misunderstanding on both of our ends. After a year of growing back my hair, all of it was chopped off. Back to the stage where I cannot style it because truthfully I'm not the best. I ended but spending $75 just to be upset & really sad about my overall appearance. I'm really unhappy with my experience at this salon. Despite showing reference photos and clearly explaining what I wanted, I walked out with a bowl cut that looks straight out of the 90s. There was no attempt to personalize the style or consider my face shape--it felt like the same cut was given to everyone. The stylist rushed through the appointment, didn't check in during the cut, and seemed unconcerned when I mentioned I wasn't happy with how it was turning out. For the price, I expected skill, creativity, and at least some attention to detail. Unfortunately, I got the opposite. I won't be coming back. read more

Y'all - I basically cheated on my amazing hair person of over ten years to go see Cris at Hairrari. I had my reasons. The main one was that I wanted to go to a queer-friendly space. It's tough to be a queer enby femme getting their hair done in a barber shop or at a regular salon where everyone calls me ma'am, girl, she/her, etc. Enter Hairrari - it's located in a great central location in Echo Park. It's clean, minimalist and has pothos hanging everywhere. Oh my plant-loving-heart. I got to hang out with a sweet chill little doggo while I briefly waited to get seen by Cris. He listened to what I wanted to do with my hair and discussed my challenges with my current cut. Not only did Cris do exactly what I wanted, he also worked with my hair texture in a way that no other stylist has ever done before. I feel like this should be the norm but sadly it is not for me. The shop is spacious and clean with a totally chill vibe. It wasn't crazy busy so I got to chat with some of the other staff and they were all super nice. I had looked through the different stylists on their site and IG before I came and I really liked Sam's work. I'm always scared to try a new stylists but I really lucked out. He was so nice and friendly, he listened to what I wanted and offered suggestions. We followed our stylist Em here from their previous location. This actually worked out better for my son and I because picking him up to go there and drop him off right after is a straight shot and so incredibly convenient for me.
