They took great care of my nine year old miniature poodle . I've been the only one bathing/trimming her, but in the last few years she wouldn't let me bathe/trim without having to muzzle and medicate. My vet recommended this groomer. I'm so happy and relieved. Precious looked beautiful and not stressed. See before and after pictures.

First time customer. Extremely happy! Not a lot of groomers know how to care for a Shetland sheepdog but this place knows what they're doing!! My dog came out looking better than I expected. His teeth were so clean and he looked pounds lighter due to the fantastic job they did with his undercoat. Their communication is excellent. They're friendly and very knowledgeable. I even received a phone call to recommend some preventative things to look out for in the future which was so appreciated. They were able to obtain his shot records so I didn't even need to contact my vet! That was a huge help. I hope they like us, because we will be coming here forever!!

My experience with Hairy Hounds was amazing! After moving into the area not too long ago I began to look for a new groomer and everyone I called seemed to not have any openings for months and they were charging way more than we experienced with our previous groomers. When I called Hairy Hounds, their customer service over the phone was amazing! They were able to book me for their earliest opening available and they took great care of my boy Thor. He was in need of a grooming badly but they got the grooming done in a fast turnaround. The communication from beginning to end was amazing and I will absolutely be bringing Thor back to Hairy Hounds!

I've always groom my dogs at home because one of my dogs is very sassy, and it's my male dog Kevin . I'm always apprehensive about taking them to the groomers and afraid they will not behave. So their very first grooming sesh with Hairy Hounds turned out well, even my sassy one Kevin, i was told my dogs did very well. Thank you Hairy Hounds from the time i called, appointment made, the check in, the friendly staff, handling my dogs and when I picked them up, great customer service!

They always do such a good job with my dogs haircut who has very crazy difficult to cut hair (she's a mini pin/toy poodle = unruly wirey curles). They're very easy to schedule with and they call you to remind you of your appt a few days before which I like. They usually have my dog ready within 3 hours of drop off which is fairly quick considering some places will have you drop off at 8am and pickup till after 2. I LOVE the little bandanas they send you off with, that's a big plus. Here are some pics after her grooming appt (FYI I chose not to give her too short of a cut , I like her furry but just cleaned up)

I have had nothing but positive experiences with the ladies at Hairy Hounds! They are always willing to accommodate my needs with rescheduling, questions, and general concerns over my senior dog's grooming care. Excellent customer service and the front desk receptionist is so nice! My dogs are on the older side and they perform such great attention to detail and care. Truly, you can not go wrong bringing your pet to hairy hounds.

First time at Hairy Hounds. I felt like it was time to try someplace new. I'm really glad I found them. It's like dropping your baby off to day care, you worry until they're in your arms again. Jan did great and my girl seemed very happy when I picked her up. She was sleeping when I got there so I took that as a good sign. Hairy Hounds is pretty far out of the way from where I live but I don't mind the drive and wait as long as my girl is happy. Stella even got her teeth brushed and came out with a cute bandana.

I am so glad I brought my puppy here. Both me and my friend brought our dogs in together. They took such good care of them. They both look amazing. They're so soft and smell amazing. We had just gotten back from camping and knew they needed a deep clean. My pup is now 5 shades whiter. So adorable and sooo soft. I was worried how my dog would react because this was his first time doing something like this. They reassured me everything would be ok and it was, he did great and I will definitely take him back. I have been taking my dogs here for the past 15 years. I drive all the way from Benicia to take advantage of their services. Their dedication & devotion to their craft is beyond reproach. All of my dogs have been golden rescues with different "quirks." They have all loved going to Hairy Hounds & Jan & her staff treat them like they are their own. read more

Took my pup in for a bath, a nail trim and a teeth brushing. Everyone was super friendly, I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly, and we had a great experience. I super appreciate that they check animal vaccination papers. Dropped pup off at 11:15 am and they called me at 3:15 pm sharp for pickup! She came out with a cute little bandana, was super soft and smelled fresh and clean. Thank you ladies for all of your hard work! We will be back! read more

After experiencing several other groomers in the Oakley/Brentwood area I decided to give this place a try and I'm so glad I did. They were friendly from the very beginning. I haven't had such great customer service in a very long time. Making the appointment was hassle free, drop off was seamless, it was our first time so shot records were required. What I liked the most besides my poodles amazing cut and blowout was how the groomer stepped out to meet my pup and I. She checked his comfort level while I was still present and took the time to ask if I had any concerns or questions about his cut. I did not feel rushed during this process and I really felt that they cared for him. I right away felt that I left him in good hands. Pick up came just when they expected it to. Which was really nice not to over or undershoot timing like most other places. Overall we had a great experience and my boy looks great!! read more

Have been to other places for our dogs grooming needs and this place is the best I've found. They take wonderful care of the dog and groom her to perfection. They are kind of out of the way but well worth finding. They're always booked in advance but its well worth the effort to get an appointment. Absolutely magnificent. read more

We love Hairy Hounds! We have been going here for the last 4 years. My dog Bentley is so particular with strangers or being left alone. This is the only place I can take him. He is happy, he trusts them and he looks so good when he is done with his grooming. If I drop him off at 7:30 he is usually done by 10:30 which is great. We have been thinking of moving to the Oakland area. I would drive back to take Bentley here. read more

Several of the girls at my work take their dogs here and recommended Hairy Hounds to me for my new puppy. Everyone was super friendly! They even played with my puppy ( so much that she passed out as soon as we got home and slept through the night)!!! I really love that they do an appointment confirmation call the day before. I love this place. They always do a great job with my kinky-haired maltese-bichon mix. They give a cute little bandana too. My dog always comes home smelling like vanilla and with super soft hair. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because they do not allow you to pay with a credit/debit card. It's cash only which is a pain if you forget. Other than that they are great. read more

I was super excited when my mother in law told me about this place. I read the reivews and read nothing but how awesome this place was. Well, today i brought in my dog and when my boyfriend picked her up her ears are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. i dont know if they forgot to trim the left ear or they intended for it to look like that, but it looks terrible. I didnt mind paying the $50 because i knew she was going to get a top of the line hair cut but this is horrible. Not worth $50. read more

These ladies (never seen any guys working there, though they may be busy in the back?) are AWESOME! They do a great job and have amazing hearts. We love the bandannas that our little terrier comes back with and she loves them too, off of course, but she never shreds them...they are like security blankets. This was only our second time but we will be back every couple of months for sure. read more

This place does not have qualified dog groomers. My poodle was totally not poodle cut and it looked like they took scissors to my Maltese. Looked like a 4 years old cut his hair. When I tried to give them one more chance they refused service. How petty. They are in it for the money and don't care about your pets. read more

Since my sister has moved back from San Diego she has taken her dog to hairy hounds and she loves how they groom Snoopy, they do not half a** their job they always leave your dog looking so cute and clean. They also call you to remind you that your dog is due for a grooming soon and to schedule an appt, which is nice because I know people are busy and sometimes need reminders on little things! Also, employees all are super nice and friendly and treat your dog very well. read more

We offer top-of-the-line products in our full service dog grooming salon. Here we treat your furry pet as our own, with the same love and affection you give them at home. All grooming services include haircut, bath, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression. We specialize in grooming all breeds, any shape and size. Our grooming staff are all CPR and First Aid Certified as well as International Professional Groomer Certified. We pride ourselves in our customer service. We also take pride in trying to educate our clients in the care of their pets. We work Tuesday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm and the second Saturday of every month 7:00am-2:30pm by appointment only.

Hairy Hounds was established in 2001 by Jan and her family. Jan started out working for another salon and decided to open her own grooming salon. She opened with the idea of help others by taking care of their pets. Jan's love for animals has help grow her business to an unbelievable size. Where she cares for not only her staff but her furry clientele as well.

I could tell how much he likes his job and the animals he works with, but even more, my dog got a top-tier grooming. As my parents said, she smelled good and Luan did a great job. Since I don't live in the area, I forwarded his information to a friend who lives close by so that she can get her dog in with him too.

Upon entry, the dogs did get really excited to see huge screens of dogs...if you have dogs that react to seeing pets on TV - you know what I mean. The staff's demeanor is calm and encouraging. They brought our bigger dog (50lbs) into the area with similar sized pets..and the smaller dog (25lbs) went into that size group. Dogs are grouped together by size - which totally makes sense for safety. The "introduction" is done in about 30mins time...1 new camper..and a more "veteran" camper. The dogs were aware of each other in the space..but there was no forced meeting...they were able to sniff out each other's presence at a safe distance. 2 staff members are there, watching the body language of each dog. Very well done! Then..another dog is added, usually a female if both dogs introduced first are male. Same process...walk around...sniff the space at a non-confrontational distance. Then.,.more dogs are brought in....and the whole time, nervous Dog Mom and Dad are glued to the screens observing from the lobby. Haha..it's like watching your kid on a game show. There are "camp counselors" that encouraged dogs to "mingle"..and if they don't..they aren't forced. One of my dogs was looking for us the entire time. The other mingled and walked around and "sniffed" other dogs. We left them there for 3 hours..and watched them from home! The staff is constantly cleaning up and moving around...the dogs are able to socialize and "greet" other dogs. Definitely a place we will see again soon..just to get them used to the environment should we ever need to bring them to day care or overnight. Oh! They also take them to a "sleep suite" to see how they handle being solo. My dogs would sleep in the same space, but during the day they'd be separated. We like this because it will allow the younger dog to build confidence. I feel like our dogs would be safe here! It's a temperature controlled area with staff who genuinely look after the dogs and care about them. I'm very pleased with this space and how everything is presented! No..it's not an obedience school/training facility for pre-law enforcement K9s. There is no agility training course to bring your dog to genius SAT score level. It's a safe place that will see to your dog's needs during those times you can't be there. And really..that's all any loving pet parent wants. If we can't take them to the wedding...reunion...vacation..then we want them somewhere safe and somewhere that allows me to view them remotely while we are away. This gives us peace of mind.

We boarded our French Bulldog at Camp Bow Wow during a family vacation. One of our biggest concerns…read morewas that other dogs were repeatedly mounting her during daycare. We noticed this frequently on the live cameras and brought it to the staff's attention, asking that they be aware of it and help prevent it during her longer stay. Unfortunately, we continued to observe the behavior. When we picked her up, she had lost weight, had a runny nose, and her behavior around other dogs had changed significantly. Before boarding, she was much more comfortable around other dogs, but afterward she became reactive and barked at them regularly. We understand that boarding can be stressful for some dogs and that dog-to-dog interactions are not always predictable. However, we were disappointed that our concerns about the repeated mounting behavior did not appear to be adequately addressed. Based on our experience, we have decided to use an in-home pet sitter for future vacations. We hope this feedback helps the facility improve supervision and ensure that dogs who are repeatedly targeted by other dogs receive more intervention and support.

Have your furry friend looking and feeling their best at Hairy Hounds! Conveniently located just off Main Street near Lone Tree Way, this grooming spot is a true gem. From the moment you walk in, the staff welcomes you with warm smiles and a super friendly attitude. Their prices are unbeatable for the top-notch services they provide. I recommend booking an appointment, as they can get pretty busy--but trust me, the results are well worth it! The turnaround time was impressive, taking just 2-3 hours for the full grooming service. My pup came out looking absolutely amazing! Her coat was soft, clean, and smelled wonderful. They even finished the service with a cute little bandana that she loved. I brought my dog to Hairy Hounds for grooming and I couldn't be happier with the results! They did an amazing job--he came out looking clean, trimmed perfectly, and smelling so fresh. The staff was friendly, professional, and clearly cared about the comfort and well-being of my pup. It's always nerve-wracking leaving your dog with someone new, but they made the whole experience stress-free.
