I came to drop off my clothes and the first thing they did was ask me to sign a waiver that if the clothes are damaged it's not their fault??? They said it was a 50% chance that the jacket would be damaged... I had 5 other items and I asked how much will it all be they said about $56.00. I went ahead because the jacket was about $75 and I had had it for a few years I decided to gamble but was still taken aback. Two weeks later I came to pick up my order and when I went in they said they could only take cash. They had never told me that before, but I didn't have that cash so I left. I came back a couple weeks later with cash to get my order and they do take credit cards. So I'm assuming maybe their credit card machine was down but they didn't explain it properly. Then when I got my order, they tried to give me someone else's clothes. They had my clothes there but they had three other nice aloha shirts included and that wouldn't have been very nice of me to take someone else's clothes. Then they told me it was going to be $96.51. Not $56 that's $40 more. I explained to the lady that I was quoted $56 and would've been comfortable with a $10 variation but $40 jump is quite a bit. They said it was for the jacket! That they had not quoted me the price for the jacket because it was on a separate invoice because of the waiver that I had to sign.THAT I DID SIGN!!! anyway it wasn't the lady's fault it was working. I tried not to be extremely rude, but I told her that this was unacceptable business practices and then I wouldn't be coming back. She tried to offer me a $10 discount on my next order, I told her she could keep it because I wouldn't be coming back because that's unacceptable and I don't trust them after all of this not good business Hakuyosha.. that's a long mistakes for one dry cleaning order. read more

First time here. I called around looking for affordable alterations and this is the only Hakyosha location that did it. Chona was absolutely helpful and friendly and gave me a good rate for alterations for my dress. Chona communicated when my dresses would be done and even contacted me to let me know when it was done. I hope they continue to offer this service as many places I contacted charge $25 just to hem a thin layer garment. read more

Awesome ladies!! All of them are super nice and friendly!! When I'm done with my drop off, I leave there feeling so appreciated when I dropped off my dry-clean. I came here for the past year or so and I believe she's the owner because she's always at the cash register every time. I've been charged different prices multiple times for dropping off the same shirts. most of the time they're cleaned good but a few shirts she has not been able to clean. The reason I'm upset and giving her a bad review is she won't accept her own loyalty cards. She's told me before give me them upon payment when I pickup and this time she said I need to show her the cards upon drop off. I think she wants to charge different prices with the loyalty cards. Caveat Emptor! I sent my entire designer wardrobe to Hakuyosha after an apartment fire. A number of items, including favorites, went missing in the time they had my clothing. It was admittedly over some time as there were snafus with the insurance company. I was also a loyal customer, and had spent thousands over the years - in fact the driver who picked up all of my things commented that so many things were still in the Hakuyosha dry-cleaning bags. They have refused my efforts for ANY consideration. Not a one. All they can say is "the policy, the policy". What their response tells me, and should tell you, is that they stand behind the thieves that work for them. DO NOT PATRONIZE. read more

The app and online interface is extremely sketchy. You have to enter and save your card information to their system in order to pay. There is no other option (e.g. paypal, apple pay, cash, etc.). When I went to pick up my item from the locker, the combination that they gave me didn't even work. Now I have to wait until tomorrow for someone to reset the combination. I'm never using this service again. I'd rather take my items elsewhere for the price and lack of customer service. read more

The service might be cheaper than other places, but in place of price, the service times are slower. I would say service is good, but while the people are nice here, EVERY TIME I've taken a garment in, it has come back with one less button. If they would have told me about the bottom coming off and provided me with said button, it wouldn't be a big deal, but NOT ONCE has any of the service people said a thing to me. While they do offer a stamp card, when I did fill my card out, they took it from me and I never received any discount for filling out said card. As much as I love to support local (especially what's local and close by), the buttons and the stamp card, as well as the wait time and the short hours make this a no from me. I wouldn't recommend coming here with any piece of clothing you need deep cleaned. It may be fine for basic dry cleaning of clothing that's in like-new condition. They charged me almost $200 to "spot clean" a designer garment. They warned me that they may not be able to get all of the stain/soil out, which is what ended up happening. The stains looked faded but still easily visible. After taking my dress to another specialized cleaner, she said this is a basic stain that should have been easy for any professional cleaner to get out. This cleaner ended up doing sooo much better than Hakuyosha in getting the stain out. read more

I LOVE these folks. I have vintage clothing/dresses that had been stained and were in desperate need of help. When I brought them in they were honest and upfront considering the age and wear on the old fabrics. I agreed to the risks mostly because he garments would be worthless either way. Their service has been declining over the years. I recently opened my sweaters I sent to have laundered early this year as they had them folded and my sweaters are ruined, my wool and cashmere are hard to the touch and stretched out of shape! My husband recently opened one of his aloha shirts and while I repressed it, it had an L shaped tear in the front right midway down the shirt! This is the first time I've ever had anything dry cleaned, so I didn't really know what the expect. The staff was very friendly and made dropping off my items simple. I ended up having two dresses cleaned, one which had some beading detail on it, which I had to sign a paper saying I understood that there was a small risk of the beads being damaged during the cleaning process. I decided to put my trust in them and sign away. I picked up both dresses a few days later. They were in perfect condition and sparking clean. I double checked the beading detail and it was thankfully intact. Total price came out to around $34, which I thought was reasonable considering the original cost/type of material these dresses were made of. I only had a few minor stains from a spilled drink and they appear to have cleaned that very well. In the end, I would definitely go back to this place for my future dry cleaning needs. They also have stamp cards! There are a few parking stalls up front which always seem to have space open. Just as others say, this is on the corner of young and piikoi. read more

WARNING! GET YOUR PRICES BEFORE LEAVING ANY GARMENTS!!! Yesterday, I left a 2 bags of clothes and towels after a trip. I asked for a price quote but they told me, since it was charged per piece, they would call me with an estimate. They called me back 30 minutes to closing with a total of $450! I couldn't call till 30 minutes after closing at 6pm, and I was not able to leave a message so I went in ASAP today when they opened at 9am. It 98 pieces and, granted, I was ready to pay to not deal with laundry, but that came out to about $4.69 PER PIECE. I was able to get most of my clothes, but they had already processed my underthings for $98. Pricing is INSANE and NOT MARKED ANYWHERE. Better Business Bureau Certified my left foot. This place is only good for a few pieces and please press them for an estimate or a price list before you get taken in. Today, the laundry at Hakuyosha was much greater the cost of the clothes I needed cleaned... Big mistake. read more

Actually not on South King--on the corner of Young and Pi'ikoi, next to the 7-11, with Zippy's on the other side. Don't be fooled. Excellent customer service: clear, polite, kind, and professional--conversational without being too nosey the way some small business staff can get. They've basically got it down to a predictable routine, but the staff manages to be pleasant and likable each time, not tired-looking or bored, the way some clerks are. Reasonable, but not cheap, prices--a pleatherish jacket cost around $13, and business dresses a bit more, from what I recall--and they tell you exactly when to expect the work done. (Couple of days, usually.) When dropping off, point out any specific issues your clothes may have, such as particular stains or problems. If they can't fix your problem, they will tell you so up front. They don't make promises, unless sure they can keep them. If you forget your pickup date, as I usually do, they will hold on to your stuff for a while, and not hound you over the phone to come get it. Everyone's busy and professional, they know. But they do have your phone no. and records, so if you're a repeat customer, or forget your ticket, they can look you up. Pay during pickup, not dropoff. Get rid of the wire hangers and pink-ish foam paddding it that they'll return your coats, dresses, etc., on, ASAP--switch 'em out for nice hangers such as wooden or even plastic ones--especially if you've got nice stuff hanging on 'em. The pink crap actually melts over time, if you live in a warm or muggy neighborhood, so do not store it away in your closet for years to come--your clothes will obtain this pink stain that the store can't get rid of. Plus whatever rust the wire hangers bring to the party (Joan Crawford was right--NO MORE WIRE HANGERS EVER!...I live and die by Mommie Dearest...) You've been warned. Other'n that, good stuff. Efficient, detailed cleaning service...as the Cherry Blossom Festival royal court members might attest, their autographed, official Hakuyosha posters decorating the walls. I try not to dry clean too much as its generally a pain and expensive. But boy do I love a freshly pressed shirt or pair of pants. The aunties at this location are so kind. Garments look great and are completed on time. They also do everything from minor repairs and hemlines to major alterations. However, they send to a central facility so the seamstress is not on location. With that, if you actually need something taken in, not just shortened, I'd head to a seamstress. This place is the worst! I started using them 3 months ago and spend on average 300 per month with them. I took a pale pink blouse in to get dry cleaned and it was returned to me in a completely different color and very stiff from the chemicals they used. Of course I didn't notice until I got home, my order that day had 30 items and I don't normally go through each piece before i leave. (Which everyone should do!) I called them to report my complaint and they asked me to bring my blouse in which I did.. The two women behind the counter looked at my blouse and me with total suspicion, as if I was lying about the color change! They told me they would speak to the manager and get back to me, I told them this was an 80 dollar blouse from anthropology that I had only worn once. They called me 4 days later and said that they pulled the tickets and I was wrong about the color, that it was labeled as off-white when I dropped it off... I asked to speak to the manager and she said she was off today... I then asked what they plan to do about this and she said nothing the shirt is fine and I should be happy with the color they made it... I went to this place based on reviews and I will never return to them regardless of what they do for which I suspect will be nothing!! Then you have the homeless people that (hangs out right in front of the store every day) and I can't for the life of me understand why the owner and or manager let this happen. I've tried to handwash items that needed dry cleaning and it turned out to be such a pain for heavy wool coats, especially since I didn't have the space to dry it. I decided to try actually getting it professionally dry cleaned. The two ladies that worked here were very friendly and were able to give me a detailed quote of the cost beforehand. A week later, I was able to easily pick it up and pay for the service with no hassle and my coat looked nice and clean. Surprisingly, it felt softer than before.
