So this review is about the food. If I gave a rating on the appearance of the place on the inside it would be a no star. Major renovations need to occur to make this presentable. Now, it appears most people wouldn't eat inside it looks like they have mainly take out business. With that said, I thought the food was excellent. Food is terrible.. Ihad bought food before and it was terrible.. They can do a decent cooking for JUST Chinese food only.. I ordered shrimp & chicken egg rolls chicken rice noodle soup and Pad Thai.. Egg and chicken rool were very soggy. Pad Thai was just a big plate noddles with a very few pieces of chicken. Soup was just a lot of rice and a few pieces of chicken .. It was TERRIBLE.. Never to disappoint, Lemongrass Express is a staple for convenience and consistency. Don't get me wrong, the Thai food is NOT the most authentic, but this is done purposely to match the pallets of americans. Bonus: pad thai has a hint of a brown sauce flavor, while at some restaurants the dish may just lack flavor in general. Always served with crushed peanuts and lime and always the same portions of ingredients. Also if you order food make use to say how spicy you would like it, because they can customize this for you. My family and friends have become regulars here because it is not as formal as some other restaurants, and it is very easy pick-up due to its location. Eating in is also nice because it is a quiet atmosphere. My mother loves the spicy coconut noodles. The green curry has a great portion of vegetables in it. The list goes on and on. read more

Really quick delivery and a really nice, although not so fluent and sometimes confusing lady who takes your orders via phone. Ordered at 5pm which was an hour past their lunch special time (Mon-Saturday until 3:30PM) and she still let me have it! I had the pad see ew and drunken noodles, and both are well flavored but can leave you extremely thirsty from all the MSG they put in afterwards. The pad see ew does not come with that much veggies and meat so expect an excess of broad noodles. The vegetable spring rolls that come with the lunch special are nothing extraordinary, but are nice to have in addition to a typical order. I like to get the mango sticky rice because the sticky rice is always creamy and delicious, but the mangoes can be a hit or miss. Make sure to eat this warm as it loses its creaminess and fragrance as it cools! Delivery time only took 40 minutes, and always make sure to ask for your receipt if you're paying with card because they don't include that in your baggy of goods and it's always better to be safe than curious. :) read more

Ordered delivery for drunken noodles and spicy basil fried rice. Drunken noodles were made with thin pad thai noodles and the spicy basil fried rice had no basil. I assume there are difficulties with covid, but they could have been up front about these changes before hand rather than me having to call them about it afterwards. Drunken noodles without the right noodles and basil fried rice with no basil. I would have happily ordered something else had I known, but I won't be ordering from here again based on this switcheroo. On the plus side, someone else ordered the curry and that was great. I like the idea of supporting small businesses at this time, but I also believe they should be up front and honest. Food wise, it's probably fine when they don't have supply issues, but if you're ordering from them now I'd call to make sure you're okay with the substitutions or missing ingredients. read more

Heard about this place cause I was looking for halal thai food, for my friend, in the Stony Brook area and was surprised to find this place. We came and they had the halal sign outside so that was definitely reassuring for my friend since she had been searching halal thai for quite some time. We had heard the beef and chinese broccoli was really good, so all three of us ordered that. I also got the thai iced tea which was amazing, not too sweet but very flavorful and smooth. The food was very filling and i definitely enjoyed it. Their menu was outdated and was missing things, we had to ask to find out about additional menu items. My friend definitely loved this place and would want to come back. I didnt feel like it was that significant for me, definitely good but nothing crazy. I wouldnt mind trying more items from them again but wouldnt really go too far out of my way to do so. read more

Love love love the portion size here. It's exactly what I am expecting when I spend $12 on a dish, other Thai restaurants are JOKING with their small portions (that are probably meant for children). I've been here twice and gotten the Pad See Yu both times, first with chicken and then with beef. I was not crazy about the chicken so I decided to spend the extra on the beef and it definitely improved the dish. My friends often get the pad thai and spicy basil fried rice with chicken. I've had a bite of their food and they're also pretty good, but I'm very loyal to pad see yu. The way they make it here tastes just like my mother's so it reminds me of home. I tried their tom yum soup and it was decent but a bit too pricey in my opinion. It was a pretty small cup for $5. Since I've lived on Long Island, I've used Grubhub a great deal when I first discovered its services. Delivery here at Lemongrass is always punctual with well spoken employees and drivers; as a Thai food connoisseur and someone with an adventurous pallet when it comes to food in-general, I have to admit the Chicken Pad Thai is delicious, hearty and filling. I also get a side of Spring Rolls with my order as a snack and they too are delectable. While the food is not bad and is probably a solid 3.5 stars, the customer service is a solid 0 star. I called to order two dishes for take out and when I came to pick it up 30 minutes later, the lady, probably one of the owners, realized she gave it away to the wrong person. What does she do? Calls that customer to see if they would come back with the order. Now that got me thinking while I was listening to the 10 minute conversation - was she planning to give me the retuned order if they did come back with it? Luckily I didn't have to worry about that because they chose not to bring back the order. But unfortunately I had to wait another 15 minutes for my order. Her conversation with the other customer was bordering on rude and accompanied with eye rolls. And I think she nonchalantly said sorry to me. I seriously thought about leaving but I had two hungry kids waiting in the car, and I figured maybe she's having a bad day. I opened the bag right away to make sure everything was right. I came here a couple times, my sister told me about this place and personally I never enjoyed Chinese food that often because I can only eat halal food and am limited to what I can buy. The first time I tried this place I ordered Sesame chicken, hot and sour soup, dumplings, fried rice and noodles. The food was honestly really good. The inside doesn't look the fanciest but they're food one if the best Chinese food I've ever had. The employees are really nice and it doesn't take long for them to make the food. I ordered the Tom yum soup,I hope it's made fresh because it was great. Nice fresh zucchini, peppers and shrimp. I loved it. I then ordered the duck roll,again the reason for 3stars. They didn't give me duck roll it was just regular spring rolls. I don't complain. They were good but tasted like all other spring rolls. Then I had their shrimp and chive dumplings. Again I hope they are made fresh because they too were really good. Nice quantity of ingredients in each dumpling and a wonderful flavor. 6 came with the order. That's all I had for now. Now I wouldn't say this place "sucks", but it isn't amazing either. With that said. . I'm pretty sure this isn't thai owned since there was chinese written on my reciept. However, with the prices that I'm paying, I don't except authenticity either. Whether it is authentic or not, my tastes buds tell me that the food is pretty good. The pad see ew was good. It is very similar to the "Dry flat stir fry noodles" you would get at a cantonese restaurant, but with a different sauce to it. The noodles were well made. I would skip the pineapple coconut fried rice. Canned pineapples and the coconut smell was tooooo overpowering. The chicken was surprisingly huge and not dry at all! There were like 8 large pieces of chicken in each. The shrimp fried noodle is literally what it says. It is a piece of shrimp with crispy fried noodle wrapped around. Fried food is hard to mess up anyway. Shrimp was big and fresh. My favorite asian dessert is probably mango sweet sticky rice. There was a good amount of mango and it was very sweet and fresh. But the rice. . It was sitting out for too long. It wasn't even hot. The random canned cherry was pointless as well BUT it was huge. That big portion for $4.95. I probably would get this again just to fill myself up. I guess you get what you pay for. It's no payathai, but it is fast and cheap food. Bad Experience- Lemongrass Express Lake Grove We called at 6:30 to place an order for 7:30 pick up for iftaar. They said it will only be ready by 8. We still went ahead and placed an order. My brother in law got there at 7:50, tried calling them they wouldn't answer. We tried calling them from home they wouldn't answer, he went to the door they would only come out when they had an order ready otherwise wouldn't provide an update. We were finally able to get them on the phone at 8:40 when they said the order would take another 40 minutes!! We were disappointed and hungry- left without iftar. They should have either not taken the order or at 8 answered and said we can't make it. Other cars were also waiting and all orders were 30-45 minutes late. I have eaten from here before and never had a bad experience but this was very unprofessional especially at iftar time read more

I ordered food through seamless last night around 7pm. It took an hour and a half for the food to be delivered to my friend's house. I called the restaurant after an hour to see when they thought the food would get to me, and the woman who answered told me about 15 minutes. I'm extremely unsatisfied with the amount of time it took the food to be delivered. The food itself was actually pretty good. I got the spicy curry shrimp over rice. I also got a bubble tea which didn't taste very fresh and all the tapioca balls were stuck together at the bottom. We tried this place because the really good Thai place down the street was closed. It was a fine substitute. Total hole in the wall with service and prices to match. Pad Thai was 8/10. Really good flavor, generous portion. Wife got the spicy coconut noodle with vegetables. She said the sauce was good but the noodles were kinda weird, so not their fault just a matter of taste. The only thing I didn't like was the cleanliness and some of the minor touches of the shop. There are cobwebs with a bunch of dead bugs really visible in the corner. The soy sauce at our table was empty, and the hot chili paste was served with a disposable plastic spoon. There's broken down equipment sitting in the corner, and dusty random decor. Table was sticky too... I don't know, it was just a little too dirty to be the kind of charming hole in the wall gem you want. read more

We ordered one appetizer, two entrees, one dessert, and two drinks for delivery online. The online system was easy to navigate and sent confirmation. We ordered at 5:37pm with expected delivery at 6:31pm. I called at 6:49 and was simply told the order was on the way. I called again at 7:10 and was told 10 minutes. I called again at 7:29 and was told 5 minutes. The person I spoke to on the phone never offered an explanation for the delay, and never apologized. I think this person was the one delivering because it sounded like she was in a car, but I'm not sure. The final time I called, after almost two hours since the order was placed, she finally offered to give us a discount (we'll see if any refund is received). When we asked the person delivering if they could verify the contents of the order, she said to call her and walked away. Why would we call again when she was standing right there? Luckily, the order was right and still warm, but the ice in the drinks had clearly melted significantly. I would have been less frustrated if they had given me a realistic expectation for delivery time and a reasonable explanation, or at least an apology. It was a huge inconvenience to receive our food more than an hour after we expected to receive it. While there are not many options for Thai food in the area, I will not order from this restaurant again. read more

This is the 2nd and final time that the delivery man had made our experience with Lemongrass poor. We ordered 2 dinner entrees totaling to $20 through GrubHub. Grubhub asked if we wanted to tip 15% on our small order, and I agreed ($3). The delivery guy traveled a total of 3.5 miles to my house and gave my food. He did his best trying to explain that he drove too far for a $3 tip. I played stupid and he finally gave up explaining his displeasure. It is not like I totally dissed him, a 15% tip probably would have been the same if I had eaten there. A more respected 20% tip would have given him an extra dollar. I agree with the majority of reviews here that this is not authentic Thai food. Maybe Thai + Chinese fusion at best. That being said though, it's definitely better than most chinese takeout/delivery places in the area. I have ordered from Lemongrass a few times for delivery to Stony Brook University and they are pretty punctual and accurate with their estimated time for delivery. I usually order the mango sticky rice for dessert. Very filling and delicious for $5. The mango can be a little raw though (that happened once in the multiple times I've ordered). There's a bit of toasted coconut on top of the rice as well. The pad thai is hard to mess up. I like how there's a good amount of the protein in the noodles. Thanks for including the limes as well, since you usually don't get that for delivery. And warning, don't get the pineapple fried rice. I made the mistake of ordering it the first time I tried lemongrass, thinking it was the safe choice. It was wayyyy too sweet with the overwhelming coconut taste in it. $15 minimum for delivery and an entree + mango sticky rice just makes the cut. I'll probably try their curries next! read more

The chicken was tender and juicy as it should be Pad Thai (Shrimp) - This dish had more of a Chinese flavor to it then a Thai flavor pad thai. Not really sure how else to describe it. Not your typical pad thai flavors. That being said, we all still loved it and thought it was really good. It was pretty heavy on the noodles and not so much other ingredients which we probably could have used more it. Gaeng Massamum Curry - HELL YES!!!! I have not had a massaman this good in quite some time. Chicken was succulent and plentiful. Incredible flavor. Only thing I can say about it is, it could have been a little spicier. But thats me reaching for someone to criticize it for. Spicy Basil Chicken - Awesome! Very good flavors.
