Decided to meet a friend here for an early dinner. I arrived first so sat at the bar to wait, it was around 4PM and I was the only person there. They have happy hour from 3-7pm drinks are $7-8 and hot apps are $8 . I got a glass of wine and the Bang Bang cauliflower. I asked for the sauce on the side as sometimes it's too spicy. The cauliflower was in a tempura batter which was light and crispy and the sauce was more sweet then spicy but had a nice flavor. After my friend arrived we ordered the pork dumplings, which were tasty but nothing special. Eventually we moved to the dinning room. The menu is extensive with many hot dishes and sushi selections. There is a $29 price fixe that includes soup or salad, a small plate or dim sum, a kitchen entree and dessert with no restrictions off the full menu. Quite a bargain. We both got the wonton soup, which was ok but could have been hotter in temperature. We got the wagyu short rib potstickers and the crystal shrimp shumai, the beef were dry and benefited from the dipping sauce, the shrimp were fine. I got the Tiger prawns which was the star of the meal. Huge shrimp stacked high with a light sauce over shredded cabbage serves with either brown or white rice. I took half of them home. My friend doesn't like spicy food so asked which of the ramen dishes was not spicy. The waitress recommended the pork belly which arrived with no broth at all, after that was remedied it was still too spicy, which of course is personal but still. My friend got the fried ice cream & I got the chocolate cake with green tea ice cream, both were ok if forgettable I think if I decide to return it will be for happy hour only and I'll stick to the small plate apps and maybe take an order of the tiger prawns home. read more

Wow fantastic restaurant! My mom and I dined here and had their lunch special which was phenomenal. You get a a lot of food for a very good price of only $25. I loved everything the food was flavorful and delicious and the restaurant itself has such a beautiful ambience. Seemed like a filler. I got the two sushi rolls I wanted originally; Joker and Mango Hawaii. I got them both with multigrain rice. I also got the Mango Hawaii without the crunch. Both rolls were very good and fresh. Each had it's own unique flavor. Service was delightful. My waitress was a doll. I don't recall her name. I went on November 11th. I had Mito on my radar for a while. You know when a restaurant becomes your little fantasy boo? That was Mito. I wanted to go to the Babylon location for my birthday -- the menu looked cute, small hot and cold plates, very "I'm sophisticated, but still hungry." Then boom -- they shut down. Ghetto. So then I considered the Lake Grove location for my birthday, but my intuition tapped me on the shoulder like, "Babsy... no. Go somewhere else before you get upset." And like a wise woman, I listened. Fast-forward: my work bestie wants to hang out. I'm thinking, "Let's give Mito ONE chance. Happy hour might redeem themselves. HAPPY HOUR SAID "ABSOLUTELY NOT." For a restaurant at the mall at happy hour. Sure wasn't popping. Fords Garage, Cheesecake Factory, Ruth Chris. Hell even Kura Sushi was popping. 1st red flag Lake Grove only has the hot small plates menu. No cold ones. Just vibes and disappointment. But fine, we tried to stay positive. The drinks: Listen. Asian restaurants are usually heavy-handed with the liquor -- like "sip this and forget your middle name." But this? THIS tasted like someone wrung out a car battery acid over ice. I'm supposed to enjoy my first sip, not recoil like I licked a Duracell. The apps: We ordered the dim sum tasting. On the website, the picture clearly shows a tasting for TWO. We received a tasting for ONE... and got charged for the two-person version anyway. I let it slide because I'm too old to be arguing with hostesses. but please... false advertising much? Me and my bestie were sitting there sharing that sad little plate like two Victorian orphans. Unfortunately because of the audacity. I forgot to take a picture. Then we tried the spicy Korean beef jerky. Baby... that was country fried steak strips with a shy, timid little aioli that was NOT spicy and barely present. Again -- not what the website promised, but okay. I still ate it because I was hungry. Rock shrimp tempura? Fine. No complaints. A rare bright moment in a sea of culinary lies. Wagyu beef egg rolls? Looked NOTHING like the photo. Not even relatives. But they were... okay-ish. Then came the black truffle fried rice. Zero seasoning. I don't even think the salt made eye contact with that dish. The truffle must've called out sick. I had to put soy sauce on the rice for a tad bit of flavor. Very disappointing. The crab cheese wontons: Almost forgot these little disappointments. I have had WAY better crab cheese wontons from hood Chinese spots -- the ones where you gotta step over two crackheads, a pitbull, and a questionable puddle just to pick up your order. And you know what? I would GLADLY fight through that obstacle course before I ever order Mito's wontons again. And I grew up in the damn hood. Smfh! Overall? Cute idea, tragic execution. We got the price fix menu (4courses) and 3 came out at the same time!! Soup, apps, and meal... No room on the table due to the amount of dishes. The calamari is decent. The soups are all good. The shrimp shumai is also very good. The kids menu fried rice comes with ALOT of food (2-4 servings). Most entrees come with either white, brown or fried rice. Everything has been good. I'm Not the biggest fan of the dessert but also decent (either fried bananas or mochi ice cream) Service: one time it was pretty slow but overall the staff has been very helpful and pleasant! Take a look up and you'll see intricate mesh figures on the ceilings. I came here with a few friends on a Sunday night, and was seated fairly quickly. I ordered a plum wine to drink and for my entree: the Joker roll with a piece of King Salmon and Octopus. The Joker Roll was quite nice. Definitely had a kick to it. The King Salmon and Octopus were pretty good. I ended the night with the macarons plate and was left a bit disappointed. The macarons had a slight minty aftertaste, which was odd considering none of the flavors described were mint... But overall, I think this place is worth at least one visit. We started off with 3 apps, kani salad was tasty and fresh, dumplings were full of pork and the cheese wontons were good, I didn't feel they had much crab but they did have corn in them. They were nice but I would call them sweet corn and cheese dumplings instead. I missed my wife entree but we both had hibachi, just she had shrimp. These were alright, the sauce was good but the portions and proteins could have been cooked better. The deserts were both very good, so solid finish to our meals. I want to shout out our server Thomas P. He was very kind and caring. Checked in with us often and made sure everything went smooth. He knew the menu well and answered every question we had. It's very elegantly decorated; quiet ambiance and perfectly lit. I thought to try for one of the Japanese drinks - ms Tokyo but was not up my alley - it was too strong but not in a good way. But they exchanged it for me easily and even apologized when they didn't need to. So I ended up with a lychee margarita which was sooo much better. The dumplings were not great and neither the adults or the kids liked them. The shrimp lo mein noodles, general tsos chicken, beef fried rice - they were all perfect. The rice melted in your mouth and the meat was soft and the perfect size and texture. The shrimps are big but my kids still loved them. The spicy Kani salad was good - nothing out of the ordinary but good enough to order. We also got the dumpling assorted but I don't recommend them. The hot mama sushi roll was OK - I ate it all but probably won't order it again; and if you're getting it because you want the spice - it's not spicy at all. For dessert - the fried ice cream tempura was just ok; the tempura was too thick for me but the green tea ice cream within it was amazing. The crème brûlée was good - nothing unique but perfectly fine to order if you like it. The fried bananas were good and comes with vanilla ice cream. Overall I would go back and recommend. read more

I enjoyed my dishes I started with the miso soup very warm and cozy. The leaves inside and tofu were perfect as well as little mushrooms noodles I enjoyed a lot. I love the new space, the restaurant feels like a luxurious cruise ship. My wife and I walk in on Friday night with no reservation. The front desk says not a problem and seats us at a nice table. My wife and I started with the berkshire pork dumplings. They were delicious and tasted very fresh. For our main dish, I started with the General Tso's chicken and my wife ordered the Branzino. The only gripe I had was the golden state roll was essentially the exact same thing as a regular shrimp tempura for almost triple the cost.
