We go to Haldi's three times each month. We're very familiar with Sam the owner, he's very kind to all of us. The food usually tastes good. But the cups are a whole other story. We can smell beer in the cups and I got drunk from it and it made me ill the whole day. And inside the cups smell like wet dog. We have eaten here a few times and always enjoyed it but last visit was not up to the usual standard. Not the regular waitress and really not that attentive. She gave us water in bottles with no glass and no ice. We had to get her attention to ask for a glass. She got our food order correct and food came quickl.The vegetable samosas were wonderful. Lamb Biryani was not like it normally is, I asked for medium spice but I think it was mild and was not great. Also the plan naan bread was not great. I also ask for some extra curry gravy for my biryanI but it didn't taste like curry at all. My husband ordered Lamb Rogan Josh, one of his favorites, he also was not impressed. Not sure if it was a different cook but these dishes were not up to the usual quality. I will give them another chance as we have enjoyed their food in the past. This is a new second location of Haldi Indian Cuisine in North Glendale. It's in the spot where the rogue tomato was for a long time. They offer North and South Indian dishes. They also offer mango lassi, beer, wine, and some cocktails. It looks like they might offer patio dining when the weather is nice. We started out with a vegetable samosa. It was a tasty start. We also shared the chicken curry and the chicken vindaloo. We ordered heat level #4 out of 5. I thought #4 is pretty much a safe hot level. It was hot but not as hot as from some other places. think that most people who really enjoy spicy Indian Cuisine need to order 4 or a 5. The dishes did differ slightly from other places but we both thought all the flavors we very pleasing. The dishes did have dimensions of flavors......but the chicken in both dishes could be a little more moist. The other location of Haldi Indian Cuisine in Surprise got the 2021 BEST IN THE VALLEY from Phoenix Magazine. My friend and I were leaving CVS and were hungry. Decided to pop into this place knowing nothing about it aside from it being Indian food. We were pleasantly surprised by this place! When you first walk in, you're greeted with the distinctive smell of Indian spices inside a very clean and spacious dining room with tasteful decor. We ordered the Tikka Masala and Korma, both with chicken and spice level 3, and garlic naan. The service was excellent, the food was better! To top off our experience, we met Bella (the robot). Bella didn't deliver our food, but our server was kind enough to let us meet her. FYI, Bella talks, can tell jokes, and likes to be pet! I am 100% serious. Almost immediately leaving Haldi, I experienced shooting pains in my stomach that continued thru day 4, lots of puffing up of my stomach and then gas, feeling hot with a fever where all I wanted to do was sleep (fighting off the infection/bacteria) a few of the days....yup, this is food poisoning!!! Here's what I will say is outstanding: the quality of the food, (no funky chicken pieces here!) the unique flavors, and the beauty and care taken with the decor. The tamarind sauce with the pakora appetizer is fantastic. And I'm crazy about their naan. Great texture, very, very fresh. Had butter this time because a dollar extra for garlic brought the voice of my cpa dad to mind, but next time I may just have to "splurge." Love the rice. When you get rice right (by preparing it with competency and consistency) you get my loyalty. Only thing I'd like is figuring out how to dial in the spice level of the beloved chicken tikka. I used to go to the first location in Surprise and somehow we had it dialed in. Here last time it was too extreme for me, and the chef took great care adjusting it. This time it was quite mild. When it's dialed in, there's nothing like it. I've been spoiled. :) This place is a little pricier than other local restaurants BUT they have kept their quality up while others...let's just say I no longer order chicken at a lot of places. I actually was motivated to dine here the other night because I tried getting premade Indian from the deli at a local grocery store and realized when you've had the best around, you need to support it. This was our fourth time visiting Haldi restaurant, three times at this (59th Ave) location. (Oct 22.) We were so looking forward to it but it was awful. Among other items, I ordered Tandoori chicken and Bullet Na'an. I asked for medium spicy on the chicken, and the Bullet Na'an was supposed to have its own spiciness on it. The chicken came and was the most unusual Tandoori chicken, a brownish color and an unusually rough batter, not the usual smooth red color I am used to. Okay, I thought, maybe it was from a different area of India and a different appearance. No problem. I tried it and it was rubbery and overcooked , but most important it had NO FLAVOR. It had NO spiciness whatsoever, never mind the medium that I asked for. None. Nothing. The same for the Na'an, it had the appearance of flavoring but no flavor, taste, spiciness whatsoever. When the waitress came around to ask how were things, for the first time in my life I told a waitress it was awful. Why? she asked. When I said it was lacking all flavor and spiciness, she offered to bring a small bowl of liquid spice to flavor it. She did that and I poured it on - yes it made it spicy a little, still rubbery and overcooked, but the atmosphere was gone and I did not eat any more. One more thing, they bring a bottle of water for each patron - no problem - but NEVER, NOT ONCE did anyone come and ask if we needed more water. Never happened in a restaurant before. It was clear we were out of water but no one offered us more. It's sad - we look for Indian restaurants as we love the food. We will now have to find another. Very disappointing. read more

Best Indian food in phoenix. We always get their tandoori chicken, it's super tender and juicy and full of flavor. All the curries are great and their nans are soft and fluffy. Great ambiance as well, we always enjoy the Indian music videos that are played on the tv while we wait for our food. The owner is very friendly and recognizes us every time we go.
