I was here at the airport early in the morning, sad about the prospect of having to eat mediocre food at ridiculously high prices. Just as I was lamenting the lack of good food options here, I came across this empanada stand near my gate. I ordered three empanadas: the chicken, the beef, and the spicy beef. The first two were decent, not bad but nothing special. But the spicy beef empanada is the single best empanada I've had in my life. I know that sounds crazy. But seriously, this random empanada stand at this airport has my favorite empanadas I've ever had. The spicy beef is perfectly seasoned and moist. The outer shell is the perfect crispiness and not too thick. This is now my go-to place whenever I come to this airport in Minneapolis. Obviously not much service or ambiance to speak of since it's next to the airport gate. But my rating is just for the food. read more

I've tried one of these before and the empanadas were decent (for an airport). I was also happy to see this empanada stand because the only other food options were Caribou and Barrio which has crazy long lines and an even longer wait. Unfortunately, they were out of most empanada by 7 am! I had my eye on a spinach and feta one but the person in front of me bought the last one. They were also out of everything other than the spicy beef and spicy chicken options. Hoping as they ramp up they can plan better and stock more. Also, the price is pretty expensive, about $7-8 for a very small empanada, but again, I understand it is airport pricing. read more

No no no! Their menu says NUTELLA empanadas. Now people, I know Nutella well. When I went to order, the pastry sign in the case case said hazelnut cocoa. I should have stopped right there, but I didn't. I got it. 9$ later the thing is NOT Nutella AT all. Not the right color, taste, or even consistency! I didn't even like it. I was, of course, expecting greatness, and was met with lumpy strange chocolate pudding feel. No thank you. I should have walked it back and returned it. How dare they use a name brand and then serve something yuck. I hope Nutella sticks it to them. Horribly disappointing experience. The only reason I stopped to buy was because it said Nutella. I have seen this empanada stand for quite sometime now but they were not open when I am at the airport. This food stand is located at Terminal 2, next to gate H7. The empanada is about the size of my palm each price at $4. They offer sweet or savory fillings, coffee, and drinks. I chose the spicy beef filling, it was delicious. Flavorful and spicy too. I should have gotten 2, I ate it so fast. I will try the other empanada next time I'm at the airport. read more

A friendly employee, quick service, hot homemade tasting breakfast, love! I had bacon egg and cheese, num! My boyfriend had spicy chicken which he loved but said might be too spicy for me, so choose accordingly. A nice addition to this airport. She got to work at 3:00 am so they are open early! read more

A fantastic addition to T2! We had the spicy chicken and ham and cheese. Both were really good, but the spicy chicken was a little better.

We had an early a.m. flight out and I wanted to grab something before the flight that I could take on the plane. We didn't want to sit down at one of the restaurants and I didn't want packaged snack food or grab-and-go sandwich. That's when I spotted Half Moon Empanadas. A fairly generic looking food stand. Organized and clean. There was no line, just one very pleasant fellow behind the counter patiently waiting for people. The stand was packed with various empanadas. I asked him what was his #1 seller and he said for breakfast it was the bacon, egg, and cheese. So I bought one not really knowing what I was getting in to. I'm generally completely underwhelmed by any kind of airport food. Not good quality, NOT fresh, WAAAAAYYYY expensive. This was under $10. Not huge, but not mini either. We boarded soon after I bought it so I didn't eat it until about 20 minutes into the flight. And I gotta say, IT WAS FANTASTIC! It was still quite warm. It was very fresh. The outside was crispy, the inside was a mix of what I believe to be fresh scrambled eggs, crisp bacon (not flabby) and a nice amount of melted cheese. I was very sad I didn't by a 2nd one - maybe the spicy chicken? When our flight returned a week later it was later at night and they were closed. I was sad about that. I'm also sad that I have to go thru security to get another one from them. Now I need to see if they have a brick-and-mortar in the area that I can visit. read more

almost everytime i look over, there is no one working at the stand. people line up and wait for several minutes before giving up and leaving because there's no employee there even when it's open. you are losing business in being absent and if you're on break or using the bathroom for a long period of time you should at least leave a note to let customers know so they don't waste their time. I understand being bored but that doesn't excuse leaving customers waiting cluelessly for your return.
