Took my Rubicon there and got a head gasket replacement. It took them longer than normal, but got the Jeep back and all was well for a little while. I started to get weird things happening with the lights on dash. Engine light comes on and then go off after a few miles. This happened for a couple of weeks until I finally hooked up the OBD2 sensor on it and it says P0305 and P2314. The truck would run rough when the engine light was on but perfect when it went off. So I bring it down there and the manager hooks up a scanner and says nothing is wrong with it and that the ignition coils, spark plugs and fuel injectors they replaced are all running perfect. This thing continues to happen for another two weeks. On and off. So I park the Jeep for almost two months until a friend can help diagnose it. The friend pulls the manifold off to look at things and sure enough, the cylinder 3 ignition coil bolt is sticking halfway out and was never tightened. Cylinder 5 and Cylinder 6 electrical connectors were never pushed in all the way like they should have been. In fact the little tab on the brand new ignition coils was broken and the connector just pushed on and never secure. So he replaced the cylinder 5 ignition coil and secured all connectors that should have been done by Half Price Auto. So I spent money to have that all fixed when it never should have even happened if they did things correctly. I'll never bring my vehicle back there because they can't be trusted. They should change the name from Half Price Auto to Half-Ass Auto. UPDATE: They called me today to "get clarification" as if the review wasn't clear enough. So, when I explain for them to tighten bolts and make sure connectors are clicked in and most importantly, when you BREAK a clip, you repair it sites of leaving a connector hanging there not secured, he accuses me of yelling (which I never did) and calling names (which I never did). My next question was "what is the purpose of this call?" to which he replied, "to get clarification". He (Jack) then stated that I never gave them a chance to fix this, to which I said "How many chances should I give? Three? Once when the head gasket was changed, once when I went back with this issue that should have never happened and once more after that??? His comprehension skills are lacking and I see more clearly why this sort of thing happens there. Just wow. So again, I'm still out $250 and haven't been able to drive my vehicle for two months because they ARE NOT THOROUGH IN THEIR REPAIRS. Good riddance. read more

Half Price Auto was quick and affordable to flush my coolant and do a brake fluid exchange. The estimated time of wait was 3-4 hours and that's about how long I waited. Went to the n 32nd st shop. first they told me i had the wrong parts, NO I had the right parts and had to go back and tell them were the parts fit. then while driving the truck home the brakes were still soft, they did not bleed the ABS unit, so no brakes. finally, the two front brake hoses were installed incorrectly, if there where any articulation it would pull the hoses in half. I thought about taking it back, but after paying almost $500 to these morons I'll fix it myself which is what I should have done in the first place. so to sum it all up, STAY AWAY FROM HALF PRICE AUTO REPAIR. read more

Definitely recommend! My car was overheating on Friday night. The shop I took it to previously was closed on Saturday, when it was still overheating. I took it to Chad who walked me through what I could be, called with updates and was able to get it back the same day after thinking it would need to be left until Monday. We took BOTH of our Expeditions to Half Price in Glendale a couple months ago (late summer 2022) to be put on the computer. BOTH of our check engine lights HAD been on. They were not on at the time, and neither one of us could get a diagnosis unfortunately. The GREAT part was there was NO CHARGE either. We were told come back when they're on. My man went in last week since his came on & stayed on. He got a very detailed analysis & told what EXACTLY needed to be done. Me, on the other hand...my check engine light FINALLY came in again last week for ONLY maybe 10 seconds MAX. Called & was told to come in, even tho it was only on a very short time, they WILL be able to pull the history. We are NOW going to the location on 32nd Street because that is where NICK "is." We were told Nick, who used to be service manager in Glendale, BOUGHT the 32nd Street location. We both really liked Nick. BOTH Half Price Auto's ARE VERY HONEST & FORTH-COMING...so your choice. If I could give 10 stars I would. So I needed my AC fixed, I went to literally 5 shops and they all quoted me crazy high numbers. This place was different, I talked to Mike on the phone and we went over what I would need without taking a look at it. And when it was all said and done he quoted me EXACTLY what he thought by my description. They had my compressor in shop already and told me to come at 12:30. I met Patrick when I walked in. And both Mike and Patrick were SUPER awesome and REALLY helped me when I most needed it. I called this place because of a fuel smell that permeated on my garage. I usually go somewhere else. But "my usual" mechanic couldn't pin down our AC problem the first two times I brought it in, so I knew I needed a second opinion, elsewhere. So off to Yelp I went, searching for someone nearby. I called first thing in the morning, the guy who answered was friendly (not rushed) and introduced his self as Patrick. He invited me to drop my car off right away. Much to my surprise this place was conveniently located right off 32nd St & just north of Greenway, an easy corner lot to get to within my vicinity. I dropped my car off and just over an hour and half I got a call back, with a detailed explanation where the gasoline smell was coming from among other issues that the other place had missed. Patrick, quoted me a pretty reasonable price and time frame for the fuel smell. So I gave them the thumbs up to proceed with the repair; and much too my delight it was ready sooner and more affordable than I expected! My car runs great! There's no more gasoline smell coming from the fuel tank intake valve and I can park in my garage again!! We were so pleased with this fix, that we brought my son's Mazda 3 in to have his AC repaired, and much to his surprise it wasn't as expensive as he thought it'd be! Just moved from Colorado and I had stopped in Performance Muffler to have them check something out for me. While it was up on the lift, Brian discovered that I had a leak in my fuel line. Not only that, but Brian and the guys at Performance also found that the moving company had damaged the brackets on my sway bar (they bottomed it out hard when unloading off the semi). Brian not only fixed my fuel line but he also replaced the brackets. I was there less than 30 min. Incredible service! When I first called and spoke to Patrick about my car he was very nice and polite. He seemed to be one of the general honest mechanics. I had brought my car there to get two new axels replaced in my Mercedes. He had a good price and said he had a warranty. I took my car in and it needed an intake manifold as well so he replaced that as well. Fast forward to today and both axels (that were done five months ago) were bad. One axel broke on a trip out of town only after one month. Patrick said he would cover towing and replacement out of state and would cover anything extra from the costs I incurred. Well two months later and I was still going back and forth with him on covering my costs. I gave him all the receipts he asked for and also brought him the broken axel. He told me that it wasn't his problem and it was the manufactures issue. He finally did send me a check to cover the part but nothing else. Then when I called yesterday to talk to them about the other bad axel, Sebastian said Patrick was sick. But Sebastian only said that after finding out who I was. I know this because I had friend call after me and my friend was told that he was out and would call him back when he was in in an hour or so. Not only did I have to bring my car back multiple times to Half Price Auto for things not put together correctly (hoses smoking, check engine light back on) but the service was terrible at best. I would not trust this auto shop if it was the only one open in the area! And I still have not received a phone call back from Patrick on the other axel that was replaced. Update, the repair lasted a couple of weeks, then another code for the same problem. Turns out they just slapped in the part and didn't clean out the ports as is required when changing an egr valve. Did they stand by their work? Nope, charged me again to go fix what should have been done the first time. Half price cuz we do it twice. Done with them. read more

I wanted to say upfront the delay on reviewing is because I was waiting for the franchise owner, Adrian to get back. He never did. Also life circumstances came up. So to start Patrick and his wife treated me very well in July 2021. Not so much in Dec 2021 since Mike had been on board and answering and making decisions..it's been pretty much a nightmare!! Very condescending and rude and they didn't fix the leak I came in there for. There is a whole giant story about this. Dec 11th 2021 I bought my car in for an leak I mentioned it was coming from the front passenger side. They claimed it was the oil pan gasket,  which sort of made me tilt my head as that is in the middle and the drips or pooling was coming from the passenger side of the car, but they are the technicians so I went with it..thinking well maybe the oil was moving to the passenger side?? Idk I also got an oil change to give my partner a break from always doing my oil change. So when I picked up the car that day, they got it done what seemed to be right before they closed. They said it took an hr but they charged me for 2 hrs labor because "that's what the books say" and then there was an additional charge of $20 I questioned,  they said it was the labor on the oil change?? what?? When I get an oil change the price on the board is what I expect. So then post its $47 not $27 on your board in your lobby. I just paid, I wanted to get out of there, not feeling good about what had happened,  I was a bit caught off guard because when I was dealing with Patrick and his wife directly in July 2021 they were amazing and great customer service. Anyway took off to head back home and right away my car was smoking like oil got spilled all over it..I thought it was in fire!  Brought it back, had a little time before they closed and Patrick sprayed some solvent on my engine to get rid of the oil and sprayed it off with a water hose in the back I asked if there would be an issue doing this and he said no. Well for weeks I had water that seeped into my spark plug area..finally my partner and I were able to soak up the water in the area the spark plugs were so it would stop misfiring and almost stalling. So the day after the oil leak "repair" on 12/11/21 I noticed that the leak was still happening,  in the same area , passenger side front. I called spoke on Monday 12/13/21 with Patrick for a minute explaining I'm still having the leak in the same area and he said to bring it in and he will take care of it. My partner was having some car problems himself and also holidays, we were going out of town I didn't get to get in until Jan 8th 2022. Also the leak wasn't super bad and i don't drive a lot. When I went in early AM on 1/8/22  I'm suddenly getting push back from Patrick that they will look at the problem but that they repaired the leak and they will give me a quote on the new leak. (ugh)  Of course at this point Mike starting taking over the conversation and arguing with me about it. I was about to pull my keys right there..I couldn't believe it especially when they say they back up their work. The conversation somehow got toned down and I wanted to see what they would come up with and maybe find what they didn't fix and actually fix it. Nope they had it the whole day. Mike said he would call me late morning to give me an update on whats up, no call so I called almost noon time. Then he said he would know in about an hr or so, no call. So I called at 2pm, no answer other than they sprayed the car and are testing it to see where it was leaking. Then by 3pm I called again. They said they put dye in the engine to look for a leak..said they didn't find any. I asked did you check where the power steering is and if it's from that. He said there is no visible leaks and I can come pick up my car. I again mentioned that I said all along it was coming from the passenger side front (pretty sure that where the power steering fluid goes) and he gaslight me, and interrupts and tells me "you were trying to do this, this morning" In my head I'm like Wtaf! dude, you did a repair that didn't need to be done right away to not address the leak I wanted addressed and I am pulling the wool over your eyes..umm no this isn't me. I want to add that it was noted on my account with them July 2021 I had multiple leaks, that the valve cover gasket needed to be replaced. Whatever leaks they mentioned I had were NOT resulting in any drips on my carport or any pooling. They was some seeping in the engine compartment. Normal for a 23 yr old vechicle. Either way still have the leak in the same exact spot that I did on 12/11/21 and no repairs on it. I don't feel good about Mike. I don't know if he is a new partner, or hired manager..I don't know either way he needs to not argue with customers and not give them 30min lectures on what happens to old cars. He seems to like talking down to customers and make them wrong and I think the guy is going to ruin Half Prices reputation. He was the absolute w read more

This place is now called Rusty's Automotive. Tommy, former owner of Good Guys sold the business. Their new sign wasn't up yet so haven't changed the sign when you come don't be confused. It's the stand-alone building on the street side with 3 garage bays. I arrived with a client's vehicle to have the oil changed. I own and operate House Husband Help LLC, and one of the services I offer is to take clients vehicles in for service while they are at work. My client always used Good Guys in the past and said he was a satisfied repeat customer. This was the first time for me at Rusty's but the guy on the phone, Brian was friendly and I was able to come in right away. Brian who was also the technician, and worked many years with GG, was just as friendly in person. He took the car in and got started on it right away. I brought my car here after last night's (Oct 2) storm because I noticed a small plastic grid underneath my car was coming off. Tommy fixed the problem and advised me that as long as I was careful driving it shouldn't come off. However, he stated to replace the part would cost a few hundred dollars at the dealership.
