I recently started experiencing some challenges with my car (after having it longer than I thought I would). I was having difficulty finding a place open nearby that could replace a specialized light bulb for my car, and I happened to drive over to Honest-1 Auto Care. Not only were they able to squeeze in an appointment for me, but they also helped me feel reassured that everything would work out...and it did. I stopped by a few weeks later when I had a light appear on my dashboard where I thought something may be wrong, but it turned out to only be my fluids were low. The Honest-1 Auto Care team came out and looked at my car, refilled my fluids at no cost, and then told me to head over for a regular check up (which I did a week later at my dealership). They also fit this appointment in between their busy day of appointments. All of the staff from the mechanics to the customer service team are all friendly and happy to answer questions even for someone like me who doesn't know too much about cars. They follow-up as needed (by calling you when your car is ready), and they are honest (thus their name!) and will let you know what you really need and what you do not need. I know they saved me quite a lot of money, time, and stress! They just quoted me $775 for a CV boot and axle repair, I just got it done elsewhere for $550 -- so not only do they not care about customers, they are now officially crooks in my book. Brought my car for an oil change early morning. They called me around noon said your car is ready. Ok cool. I came picked up the car then noticed that the sticker on a window was not replaced I checked the oil myself it wasn't changed, same old dirty oil I even brought it to a different place to make sure they confirmed my suspicions. At least they said it's ok and didn't charge me for anything that day. But what's the point I needed an oil change, just waisted my morning without car. They used to be good at the beginning last year when I first came to them but then lately started neglecting a lot and just seemed like they didn't care much. Asked them to check the brakes, belts, fluids etc. After a couple hours they called me back and said, "your car is in good shape. Really just need the tires rotated." No crazy repairs; no pushy upsell...just $13 to rotate the tires (didn't even charge me for the evaluation), and I was on my way. read more

I went in there today to see if they can fix my car, but the front desk person, i forgot his name didnt want to help out. I told him my engine light warning is on, and i asked him if he wana plug in the obd scanner device at least , he didnt even care or bother to come look at my car. First thing he said is 130$ to check your car. The dealers at least go check the car and then give you a quote. This guy thought im stupid to just pay him just for him to give me an obd code. This neighborhood auto shop started out on the right foot; that is, honest. Their work was good and their attitude was friendly and professional. Although, every time without fail that they provided service, something was left unfinished, I.e. left a can of soda in the car or didn't replace a bolt or left floorboards messed up without putting liners down, etc. That kind of worried me as for quality of work. However, they were fine with their repair work, just a bit sloppy. Most new auto shops start out with a bang to create a good reputation, build up a strong business, and gradually decline. This applies to this shop. I took it in for servicing, got the usual list with a quote for recommended repairs. One item was worn out suspension requiring new shocks and bushings for $600.00. They wouldn't include it in the computer printed quote but hand wrote it on the print out. I thought it was strange. I didn't have any indication of a flat or bumpy ride or unusual noises. I took it to Sun Devil Auto via a friend's recommendation. I wanted to get a second opinion. They were a little mystified over why I wanted the shocks replaced. They added that they were in undeniably great condition and absolutely nothing was needed. To get to the point, Honest 1 Auto has lost their honesty and my trust. Can be a bit pricey compared to some mechanics I go to in South Phx, but they live up to the name-- honest! As a woman it can be intimidating going to get a car looked at especially when it's common for women to get overcharged and taken advantage of. I have never felt pressured to pay for a service I didn't initially go in for, and they give honest opinions that a friend would give. Overall, I come back time and time again for the great service. This business is on the WEST side of Paradise Valley Nall, near JC Penney and Target, next to Krispy Kreme. By a twist of luck, I found this auto repair and service shop at Paradise Valley Mall, located next to the Chevron Car Wash, across the street from REI and Target. They serve Paradise Valley, Northeast Phoenix and Scottsdale. They saved me $2000 on my older automobile's transmission by taking the time to find out what was actually wrong with it and fixing it for a very reasonable price instead of just replacing it. The owner, Lyle, is a former GM troubleshooter from Ohio. He really cares about his work and his customers, and so does the shop manager Darren. It is very gratifying and reassuring to find an honest and competent auto repair shop with great employees who are personable and know their stuff. An important part of business success and customer satisfaction is the ability to develop good communication and a positive ongoing relationship with a customer. These guys are excellent with that. I just moved to the Phoenix area and will be using this shop as my auto mechanic and service shop. I've recommended them to several friends and neighbors. They're the best! Check them out! read more

We had a car full of 5 kids, trying to get back to San Diego from Phoenix on a 100 degree day. They were kind, caring, and so helpful. I love this place. Matt, one of their team members is, awesome. This guy has saved me and my family so much money over the years. I trust no one else to look at my cars. They're skilled mechanics and really know their stuff. Whenever I go in they do comprehensive checks along with whatever service I needed, so after, Matt reviews with me any pressing items that I should take care of. They're super honest and upfront, on more than one occasion they've recommended I check with the dealer to see if something was covered under warranty before doing the repair. They'll call to give me a heads up on anything extra they need to charge so I don't get a surprise at checkout. Honesty is such a rarity in this shady industry so it has made me loyal to their shop. Brought my car into Honest-1 a few weeks ago for an oil change. The guys there were friendly, fast, and efficient with my car. No complaints! I ended up bringing it back a week later because of a strange noise that started happening (and I was panicking because I HATE car problems). Called and asked about brakes. Have me a fair price and scheduled an appointment for next day. They did a free inspection and gagged me they same price for the brakes as well as recommending another repair that was actually spot on and needed. They did the repair same day as promised. read more

I went in with a bad AC on a Saturday. Left the car with them for good 3-4 hours. They said they will do a free inspection and let me know what is wrong. But they were not able to find the issue and asked me to bring the car back on Monday. And also I will need to pay 130$ for a detailed inspection. I went in today and left the car there. I was told that nothing is really wrong it was just a loose connector. They suggested to get it replaced for a tighter fit. I feel like finding out loose connections should be the first thing to check for. I don't think its fair to pay diagnostics cost for something as simple as a loose wire. Specially when you will pay for labor for replacing it. I ended up paying half hour labor for diagnostics and half hour for actual connector replacement. Total repair cost 200$ and 2 trips for a simple fix. read more

We've been taking our cars here for a couple years and I've always dealt with the same guy who sits at the desk every time and he's always very nice and he explains everything to me without getting frustrated. But the last couple times there's been this older gentlemen also at the front desk and he is just so rude. He speaks in a very condescending way, makes you feel like you're stupid. I was willing and able to pay for the engine to be replace out of pocket but Tracy just kept throwing obstacles up to both the conversation and the quote. I have been a customer here for a little over two years. I was first recommended this place from my Uber driver who told me he has been a customer here for years and was very satisfied. The guys here are always friendly and personable, especially the front desk attendant. I love that they offer a pick up and drop off service free of charge. They also leave a snack and note behind on the seat after each service. What a nice touch! I have never had a problem here and feel confident in patronizing their business because of their knowledge, their expertise in cars, and their fair pricing. They are not money hungry and truly are honest people -- never once have I felt they were taking advantage of me being a women and trying to get over on me. Location is great too. On quick services (" hey I think something is wrong can you guys check this?"), I can walk over to Dutch Bros and grab a drink, or walk around inside PV Mall. They have a user friendly website as well which makes scheduling appointments a breeze and there always coupons for various services available, too. I've even entrusted them with my first ever car purchase from a dealership -- which was a huge deal for me. The previous vehicle I brought here was a transition car I drove for a year while I saved up. After months and months of research, I finally found a car I was interested in purchasing and so I brought the car here for inspection. The inspection was very thorough and I felt confident they inspected all points and mechanical aspects of the car, they also did a test drive. I felt confident going ahead with the decision to purchase. I have had my car for almost a year without any issues. This place is honestly the best car shop I have ever done business with. Their name does not lie. Also, something to throw out there: I am 17 years old with my first car so I could easily be taken advantage of, and they have treated me with the respect and care they would give to their own family and their own cars. I have had two major car issues that I have brought my car in for. First, my car started leaking a fluid and I brought it in to this shop. After looking at it they concluded it was an issue with my transmission. Instead of fixing it themselves and charging me for it, they went above and beyond and called my dealership and found out it was covered under warranty and I wouldn't have to pay anything, saving me several hundred dollars. By the time I got to the shop, they had already scheduled me an appointment at my dealership and refused to charge me anything despite a few hours of labor they put into my car. Most recently, my ABS light flashed on. I went to my dealership first and they told me I had issues that would cost me close to $900 to fix. After that I went to H1 and told them what they told me. After their evaluation, they told me they could fix it for $140. Highly recommend! read more

I would pull in to Honest-1 practically every week to have my power steering fluid topped off. They would graciously do it at no cost to me. The following is a cautionary tale about the PRICE OF CONVENIENCE: I've taken my car here 3 or 4 times, due to fact that they're within walking distance of my apartment. I wish now that I had gone to another place a bit farther off and waited or taken the bus back. Here are some things I noticed: 1) They're "those kind" of mechanics who offer services you don't need. I'm not just talking about those kind of mechanics who offer obviously unneeded rack and pinion jobs. After the first visit, they said one of the things I needed was a new air filter. Since this is such an easy DIY thing, I declined it and went and bought an air filter. When I went to change the filter, I discovered the one in the car was white as a ghost and completely see-through. On subsequent visits, they have also recommended this. 2) They don't adhere to their own policy of not working on your car without approval from you. On what will be my last visit, I was told that a single tire change (yeah, I know it's dumb to get one tire but my guy became flat and I'm po' okay?!) would cost around $80. Maybe it was dumb to think that meant the total with labor, but ON PAPER I authorized up to a $90 expense, with anything further having to be approved by me, first. This was not done. They put on the tire and then told me it was going to be $117. As for the tire ordeal, there was more insult to the injury; I took the car in on Friday afternoon. Of course I knew I wouldn't be able to have it serviced that day, but left it there and was assured that it would be dealt with first thing. I told them I had to work the next morning as close to 7 as possible, and they said they'd get the tire ordered and put on as quickly as they could. I know it was a Saturday, but the car wasn't ready till about 1. That means it took them almost 6 hours to have somebody drive and get a tire and put it on. Like I said, I know it was a Saturday, but is it really that hard to order a tire from their supplier and have someone go pick it up? Did they even attempt to order the tire on the Friday afternoon? Who knows? 3) Also on my last visit, my ignition key inexplicably got stuck in the trunk when I was showing the tech my busted tire. He said not to worry about it, that they would get it out. Well, their method of doing that was to break it off in the trunk. Probably an honest accident and maybe I have a trunk-opening latch in the car, but they didn't even offer me a measly 2 bucks off to make a copy of the key at a hardware store- just a kind of "yeah, eh, sorry." I guess all I can really say else is that I never felt completely comfortable around these guys. It just feels like one of those big-name shops where you know you're bending over and they're giving it to you good. I'll just recommend Mitch's Econo Lube down the street for those who live near PV, and Larry Harker's Auto Repair for those in the West. read more

He took me out and showed me what needed to be done to the car and why. I was concerned they may not be able to make the repairs or do the work because I brought in a MINI but no problem! I have had an ongoing problem with sounds my car has been making. Pep Boys quoted me $1200 to change the struts, which supposedly would have fixed the issue. I took the car to honest 1 care, and they identified the issue as damaged engine mounts. They were able to fix the problem for around $750, and they got it right the first time.
