I have a 2008 Dodge Ram and I recently had quite a bit of work done. The service manager was fantastic at explaining each of the repairs by giving great descriptions of what would be done and why it was needed along with the expected charges in writing. I had other auto places also give me pricing previously but I didn't understand enough to be confident in getting the work done. A very big thank you AAA Paradise Valley Auto Repair Center for repairing our family car and taking care of us "out-of-towners". Our family is from San Diego and on Friday August 23, 2024 we were traveling through Phoenix en route to Flagstaff to take a daughter to college. During our time in Phoenix, our minivan broke down (low battery indicator on instrument cluster). AAA road side assistance was helpful in identifying the alternator as the likely source of trouble as the battery appeared to be fine. AAA roadside service referred us to AAA Paradise Valley Auto Repair Center, where I spoke with store manager Jose Benavides. Jose was great, he understood our frustration with a car issue away from home and assured us that while his shop was busy he certainly wouldn't turn us away. With some basic information about the car, over the phone Jose was able to work up a preliminary estimate that was fair, and by the time we had the car dropped off for service that day, Jose knew what parts would likely be needed and was confident the car would be ready the next day. We then continued to Flagstaff that same day, using other transportation. On Saturday I received a call that the car was ready. Jose stated that the technician confirmed it was the alternator that was failing and that the cost was under the initial estimate. I was able to pay over the phone for the repair and then made arrangements to pickup the car first thing on Monday morning since we were still in Flagstaff and the shop was closed on Sunday. Come Monday morning we arrived shortly after the shop opened and our car was there waiting us as promised. We are thankful for the quick repair of the car and were very happy that there were no further incidents with the car during our journey across the southern Arizona desert back to San Diego. I have been coming to this location for decades. Justin and Erik took great care of me and went above and beyond with the window motor replacement. However, when performing the oil change and inspection, it seems my coolant was low. I did not know about this until I was long gone and eventually got my vehicle condition report. Had they mentioned it, I would have had them top it off right then and there. In the past, this is how this shop conducted business - they'd tell you what was in need of attention, giving you the option right then to fix anything. Now, I'm dealing with researching the type of coolant and taking care of it myself. This happened with tire pressure a few months ago too. On Tuesday , I took my 2014 Hyuandi Sonata Hybrid in for a full check up. I waited initially at STARBUCKS AT 40th and Greenway. When I called to check on my vehicle they asked that I stop by I was told they would need to assess more about needed to be done! They provided me a Lyft ride back to my home and promised to call me when the car was in depth check-up was completed. Just after 1:30 I was called by my service Writer. A Lyft was called to bring me back to the Location. I was told my AC which had an issue was functioning normally. We set a work date of Thursday 09/16@ 7:00 am. I called on Wednesday to change the date to Friday at the same time. I dropped off my car at 7:15 am. They again sent me home via Lyft. St 3:30 Sandra My contact called me to say my car was done. Originally, I was told it would take until 5:30 pm. Was I delightfully pleased when I picked up my car. Awesomely Blessed!! The car now is in Top Shape and from the dealer's estimate of a week before; I saved a cool $575.00 ! This was an Amazing Experience. I used to take my car to AAA for oil changes and repairs. A few weeks ago, stopped by and told Gibson that my engine light was on. He said it would cost $164 for diagnostics. He couldn't even come out and take a look at it. I stopped at another car repair place, not AAA. They came out, looked at my car and told me I may need a new gas cap and that the engine light is now off. If it should come back on, bring it in and they would do some diagnostics. That was over 4 weeks ago and the light has not come back on. No more will I go to AAA repair, not as long as Gibson is working there. read more

Let me start off by stating that if you want a place that will rip you off on what you are actually getting go to this place. I asked for an oil change and for them to check my brakes. They said they have to charge $165 to diagnose the brakes as they can't just look the brakes and do a visual inspection they had to run a computer test and take it a part. Gibson Daoud from AAA Paradise Valley Auto said that they would have a diagnosis on the brakes by doing this test. I agreed to that based on what he said. Midway through the day he calls me and says that they need about 2-3 hours more because he's not sure of the problem as the time allotted for the test wasn't enough time. He said it would be $165 an hour for about 2-3 more hours. Why would I pay for more time when he said when I dropped off the vehicle that he would have a diagnosis and that why he was charging the $165. Now he wants me to pay more after they have it all taken apart. This is called bait and switch tactic. I told him I would pay for the oil change but not the diagnosis since he didn't have a diagnosis even though he said that's why they charge the $165. Never did he tell me that if he didn't have a diagnosis in the first hour that they needed to charge more. He said that I cannot pick up my car if I don't pay for both the diagnosis and the oil change. I know in the state of Arizona a mechanic can't hold a vehicle for non payment if a signed agreement hasn't been issued. Let me be clear there was nothing I signed. He was very hostile over the phone with me and even swore at me and hung up the phone on me. What a disappointment it was to use this company. I ended up having to pay for the diagnosis and oil change even though I wasn't given a diagnosis of the problem. Also, will be contacting AAA Corporate, BBB of Arizona and the Attorney General on Gibson's shady practices. Did I mention I have everything recorded.... read more

I was quoted $10,000 for a transmission and motor mounts for a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta with 167,000 miles on it. After speaking to several different German auto repair places I received quotes of $4000 for both items with labor. Do not go here. I paid $500 for the transmission service and had it towed back home to take to a place that does not scam people. Nice people work there. But trying to scam a women out of $10,000???? I was concerned about trusting a place I had never been before and at first I was a bit skeptical but after talking with Gibson a bit more and getting a ride home from Taylor I was feeling my car was in good hands. My car wouldn't start when I was trying to leave from a friend's house and I called AAA who send a tow truck taking it to the AAA Paradise Valley Auto Repair Center. I also told them about the problem with the coolant level light turning red intermittently, although the fluid in my radiator seemed alright and the engine temperature did not reach alarming levels. I was told that it was probably a sensor problem. Because I was scheduled to return to my summer residence I picked up my car to park it in my garage to address the red light issue upon my return to Phoenix. Numerous other issues were addressed and I received a bill for $1,609.36. A week before my return to Phoenix I contacted the AAA Paradise Valley Auto Repair Center to schedule a follow-up visit to fix the light indicator for a low coolant level. After delivering the vehicle I was called and told that a whole host of additional issues needed to be addressed. After these services were performed for $2,225.95, although the reason for the red light was not resolved. Later, I received a call that my head gasket was blown. In support of the diagnosis I was shown a photograph taken by a mechanic's cell phone. I told AAA not to fix the head gasket as I intended to drive across the street to Blackwell Automotive where a new refurbished engine from Jasper had been installed on 11/26/2018 at 71,167 miles giving me a warranty of 3 years or 100,000 miles. Since that time several other services had been performed (see Camaro 1997 Service Records at the end). Also note that the car was driven a mere 2,200 miles since replacement of the engine and other vehicle services. Blackwell performed two different block tests which showed no issue. Having been given two contradictory test results, I purchased my own testing kit from BlockTester, which showed no evidence of exhaust in the radiator system (see pictures 1 and 2). Blackwell also replaced the thermostat, because - in disbelief - they had found a disabled one in its place from which all functional parts had been cut out (picture 3). A normal thermostat from Autozone is shown in picture 4. MY CONCLUSION about the AAA Paradise Valley Auto Repair Center: A service pattern emerges which does not address the issue for which you bring your car in. Instead a lot of costly services are recommended to you. Don't do them but have them verified by another garage. It seems to have become industry standard to add unnecessary services like oil change, air filter and chassis lubes which could not have been possibly justified given the few miles since the last service of these items. Bogus issues are reported which an unwary customer would want immediately fixed like a blown head gasket. Again have it confirmed by another facility. But most concerning is the tampering with the thermostat by an ignoramus (see pictures 3 and 4). While I am not able to point out the exact time when this occurred, I can unequivocally claim that it happened either during my first or second back-to-back encounter with the AAA Paradise Valley Auto Repair Center in April or November 2021. read more

Made appointment to fix and when checking in , Gibson told me it would have to stay over night and blamed the female parts driver that made my appointment for not telling me during the appointment. I made another appointment through Gibson and when I arrived for the appointment, he said it would have to stay overnight. He said they were just busy and "even dealerships" keep the car overnight. I've come to this branch for just under 2 years. While the auto service has been phenomenal, todays conversations by staff in the lobby has changed my perspective overall on this AAA branch. I waited in the lobby for about 30 minutes for my oil change, and during this time employees cracked Arab jokes without any care that there was a customer in the lobby. Although I'm Caucasian, it's wild that that type of behavior is tolerated and promoted with laughter in response. Additionally, while they were on the phone with a part provider, they put the person on hold and stated that "she could get it", are you kidding me? I'm not sure if these were bad jokes or legitimate opinions of employees who didn't care that there was a customer in the same room just feet away. They have lost my business indefinitely and I don't plan on referring anyone to a mechanic that mocks groups of people/languages and is misogynistic towards women they do business with. read more
