I have been a customer (reluctant one at best) at this location for years. Not sure why I continue to come here, probably due to it being convenient. The staff here is condescending, rude and indifferent on most of my visits. I've been told the books I want to sell them are junk/garbage - yet they were purchased there for a lot more than the offer. The latest - ordered two booms that were not in stock locally only because the estimated receive by date was over the weekend. Today (Monday) I received notification my order was ready - drove over an hour to find it was not all there (my fault as I should have read the LATE email closer). The person checking me out questioned if I had paid, said "sounds about right" when I asked about the books not being there over the weekend. When I get notified of the 2nd book arriving I will once again make an hour drive to get it, then I will either go to other noon stores or go to the flagship store in Dallas. read more

Came here and sold 2 books; they were only worth $2.66 but I don't mind since I just needed to get rid of them. I went to the arts and crafts section and got a book. They have lots of unique books here. Definitely worth a look! The books aren't that cheap though (not the one I got), and when you sell your books, don't expect to make much money. read more

Half Price Books is just one of those bookstores that I walk into and can't walk out empty-handed! They have a huge selection of books to choose from including gifts like journals and even greeting cards. The staff member who rang me up was kind and inquired how my shopping experience was and was a good conversationalist. I LOVE book stores and saw this on my way into town. I knew I had to stop by. They have SOO many books to choose from. I found an Ali Hazelwood book for myself very easily and for a very reasonable price. I also found two cute little books for my kids to take home as souvenirs. I was able to shop and obtain a lot of quality magazines and other periodicals for my annual vision and mood boards for 2024. I'm also happy that HPB was having an additional 20% off customer appreciation sale from 12/26-12/28/23 which helped me substantially. Bomber that they no longer offer carry out bags to their clients as I didn't bring in my own. No worries as I'll I still appreciate the great service and discounts way cheaper than other brick and mortar and online stores any day!!!! So many great finds today but also no year end calendars as well as years prior!!! I just love this store!!! Disappointed. Tried to sell dozens of tech, real estate, finance and spiritual books here easily worth $700 but they only offered $23 something. Took books home and gonna sell somewhere else and or donate. Staff is friendly though. Store has free WiFi for the wait. (If you sang that, we can be friends) Anyway, TBH I've been to this shopping center a zillion times and never thought about checking out HFB because I assumed the selection would be bland AF. Wow was I wrong! I saw so much cool stuff! I could've spent tons of time in here looking at books, comics, albums and more, and I really wished I didn't have to be somewhere else within the hour. Lots of signs enforcing social distancing, though it was getting pretty crowded so I wished it was easier to browse. The employees were super friendly, helpful, and all masked up. I did find some rare punk and gothy vinyl in the lock box at low low prices so I decided to take it home, though it was kinda awkward asking for the titles specifically. I guess the moral of the story is don't judge a book (or a store) by its cover. Definitely returning when I have more time. read more

I first discovered Half Price books when I moved here over 11 years ago. Why weren't these stores up north????? I was hooked. I can't seem to leave there without an armful of new reading material. They have everything and all sorts of other knick-knacks you might want as well. What's also great is you can sell off your stuff when you are done with it and sometimes, just getting rid of some crap is a good thing. This is a store you can get lost in for HOURS and HOURS. You never know what you will find and you will always find something interesting. Many locations in DFW, many opportunties to lose yourself in a book. read more

This rating is for the buying process there. I came in to sell some movies & two Nintendo DS games & all they were going to offer me was $12! Like really when one of my games I was selling them was Pokémon Heart Gold & I saw they sell that game at their store for $85! Like seriously least you can do is offer half that price when I paid $50 for that game when I first got it. So of course I took that game back, wasn't going to lose that game to them when I know they'll probably sell it for more from my offer price. read more

My Lyft driver one time told me he spends a lot of time at Half Priced Books. I was happy to see it is a chain so while I was around Frisco, my sister in law and I went to check it out. She is a bookworm and I pretend to like books. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many books they offer here, and the very cheap prizes they have here! They have fiction, non-fiction, travel, gardening, cookbooks, music, DVDs, BluRays, toys, puzzles and more! A lot of the items are in very good condition, and some are even in brand new condition too! The prices and variety of items are what struck me here. Also the store is very clean and organized. Of course, you can also bring your old books here. They have a dedicated section to do that process. Overall, this is a great place for books and all sorts of media. My daughter and her 20 year old boyfriend visited this store today. He, a young black man, was job searching. He went in and came out empty handed saying he was told by a middle aged white woman that worked there that "they only hired teens"(after she asked him if he was a teen and he said no). Knowing that this sounded fishy, my daughter went back into the store minutes later and asked for an application (she got one) and then asked if they there were any age requirements and was told that you have to be 18 OR OLDER! I am...wait...used to be a half price fan. I take my son, a young black man, into the store on NWY in Dallas on Saturdays for special events but now I will probably give my money to some other bookstore. Who ever this woman is needs to be reprimanded severely! If she did it to him, I'm sure she's doing it to other young black men looking for HONEST WORK. Shame on you! read more

I'm a fan! I equally like this location as much as I do the Lewisville location. However, I do feel like the Frisco store's clearance section is made up of books that are in better condition than the Lewisville location. Most look new! The store is pretty big and well-organized. I really liked that they had a whole section in the middle related to earth-day today! Staff were very nice and approachable. I love this place. Upon walking in the smell of books hits you. YES! Smart phones, tablets, nooks, and all I want to do is read print from dirty pages, I'm old school! The store is large, yet organized, which is more than I can say about other locations. You can find everything from high school "classics" for required reading to college textbooks (a bit outdated). I find great stocking stuffers here, notebooks, and recipe books galore. My one tip would not be to rush your book browsing experience. Stay a while and see what calls your name. I come here quite often to browse and also sell items. Most things are reasonably priced, but some are just crazy overpriced. Mostly kids movies. For what you pay for used there, you can go to Walmart and get brand new. I just recently discovered the clearance section..never saw it tucked in the back of the store before. You can find some killer deals! Hardcover books that are pretty new, in great condition for $3. Some are even $1. Usually whenever I sell my things there, I get a very small amount. For example, I had 4 college textbooks from this most recent semester .. and they offered me $7 cash for all. I opted to list on Craigslist instead. I also bring in old magazines and get a couple bucks for them. It's fine because it's better than throwing them in the landfill. Will be back again and again. read more

Also, the guy working the sell-back counter wasn't very friendly. I ended up selling because I wanted to get rid of the items and they'd been sitting in my house for +1 year, but next time I'll just donate them and let a good cause get some use out of them... I love this place! This was my first trip to the one in Frisco. I had received a 50% off coupon good for Sunday only via email, and just stopped by to see what I could find. I ended up getting a great $80 Roy Lichtenstein coffee table book for $20. I also picked up some notecards. The girl working the register was very friendly. I asked if I could ring up the items separately so I could use the 1/2 off coupon on the most expensive item. She explained there was no need because they always give it to you off the most expensive item. That caught me by surprise, since most places are so strict on their equal or lesser value rules. I never leave any of their stores empty handed. After discovering Half Price Books during a brief stay in Dallas in '07 I was excited to find that they had two locations in the Phoenix area. I used to drive 30 miles in AZ just to visit a Half Price Books, now that I'm in DFW I don't have to make a long drive but sometimes I do just to check out the different unique locations. I definitely recommend stopping in one of their stores, it's a great place to kill a couple hours. read more

Their clearance carts around the place are marked $1-3, and offer some pretty awesome deals. They also have a clearance section in the back of the place. If you come here looking for a specific book, it's probably best to not expect it to be there. BUT, if you go looking for one of say five or six books-- you'll probably find one that you were specifically looking for, and if you keep an open mind and stroll around a bit, 2-3 more that you didn't know you were looking for. I really like this place when the price on amazon is high, and when I have a specific book in mind. I find it difficult to locate books they say are "here," as the shelves aren't always organized. This is no fault to the staff, because when it's busy in here people mess up the shelves pretty good. They do have a nice children's DVD section as well. read more
