For the ridiculous prices they charge they should have their food better seasoned. My wife ordered a steak that was supposed to be smothered in something called Creole butter and the steak was completely bland. I ordered fried catfish and they were so salty that I couldn't even finish them. It's sad that I couldn't even finish them either because they were so small that normally it wouldn't have been a problem. Charging almost $20 for those little tiny so-called filets that were two bites each was also absurd. We waited over an hour for very subpar food that ended up costing $100. The only thing positive about this place was our server. She was an absolute gym and I wish I could remember her name so that I could give her her credit. Food is delicious. Happy there is seafood locally. Enjoy coming here during lunch with no wait. Expect a wait late afternoon/evening. Next door is brewery. Bathroom clean! Went for lunch on Sunday , sat at the bar and placed order at 1:30 . At 2:30 we had not received our order and informed the bartender that we were leaving. He simply said OK . In the hour we sat and waited, he never once checked on us . Don't think this is a common occurrence but on this occasion this particular bartender had very little concern. read more

Visited the restaurant 12/20/25 around 1:30. Just 2 of us and we sat at the bar. Not very crowded only 4 customers at the bar. The person serving the bar was Andrew. Service was less than adequate. Took a while for us to place an order for drinks and an appetizer. Had the green tomatoes with crab cake and a top shelf margarita and a beer. The margarita was pretty much all mix and not much tequila. Wasn't sure the brand of tequila but it wasn't a familiar looking bottle. After we got our appetizer which was good we ask for a shot of tequila to put in the drink because it was so sweet and not a hint of tequila. We had the sampler dinner and it was ok. Very small portions but u would think u would get at least 2 of the smaller items. Nope. Also no restroom in the restaurant. U have to leave the restaurant go down a hallway and on the day we visited wait in line for a one person facility. There were 5 people ahead of me. Anyway got out check and saw a $11.50 charge for a shot of patron we added to our Top Shelf margarita that didn't come with patron but they had no problem up charging vs the generic they put in. We drove over from Madison and we would definitely no make a special trip to re visit. Food was ok oysters were really good but in u live in the Madison County area Chucks Fish is a tremendous upgrade from them. Also more affordable if u consider portion sizes. read more

Was told they were trying to find us a table because we had a baby. Finally got a seat. At a table that was empty when we came in. Was not offered a sling or baby seat. I love love have shell oyster house! I have been there four times since it's opened first time was for brunch and every time I have not been disappointed. Food is delicious. And the wait staff are All amazing. They know what you need before you need it, food comes out on time. They check on you but not when you have a mouth full of food. And already to feel any request you have. Can't say enough wonderful things about the restaurant. I will continue to go there for brunch, lunch, dinner. read more

Been to Halfshell in Pelham AL and was never over the top enough to write a review. We went to the one in Cullman and I thought I was at the beach the entire time. The venue is charming but the atmosphere was happy. Everyone there was carefree and happy from the staff and patrons. Beautiful location and building. Very nice. Their menu hit me better this day for some reason. We started the meal with the grilled oyster sampler and it was totally spot on! The sautéed crab claws were very good but overly oily and hard to handle. Stick with fried. It's just how the universe wants you to eat them! We all shared our meals. I had the Filet Orleans and it was tender and very flavorful. Ranked right up there where it should. Very satisfying! The cheese grits and fried okra were a welcome compliment for my sides. My wife had the Royal Redfish and yes it was fabulous. Tender, flaky and wonderful mesh of the right spices to meld the flavors into a perfect melody of white wine cream sauce and parm. The kids meals were very high quality with the fries making memories! The star of the show was the REDFISH ORLEANS. Wow. Just wow. Topped with Gulf of America Shrimp while being sautéed in New Orleans style smoky Cajun sauce and topped with lump crabmeat and parm. The melding of the spices and flaky fish will have you ranking this place a 5 star! I will now go back to the Pelham Location and see if the same experience holds there as well. Very impressed as I have been to Pelham location 4 times and for some reason was not overly impressed but it may have just been me not in the mood for the food.
