Great service! Great Food! Love the French quarter vibe and low lights within the restaurant. We sat at the bar for quick and easy service. It accomplished just that!

OMG. I would eat here for my last meal. Really beautifully decorated. Booths big enough for any size person. Wait staff was great. But now for the food. And sorry I missed pictures of the appetizers. Appetizers were crab claws(New Orleans style). Probably the best crab claws we've had in a long time. Only issue was not enough bread to soak up the sauce and I was told it was impolite to use a spoon. Voodoo chicken was really delicious. Main meal. Redfish Orleans was beautiful and really tasty. And side of asparagus was mighty tasty. Seafood Fettuccine was really good. Seafood pot pie was tasty and the crème brûlée sweet potatoes ought to be illegal in every state. Seafood bisque was delicious. Definitely a return visit in the near future.

Stopped in while in town for a volleyball tournament and this place did not disappoint! We had eaten at this restaurant in Biloxi and loved it, so when we saw there was a location in Cullman, we had to give it a try. We LOVED everything! Started with the Orleans style snow crab claws and they were so tasty. The spicy butter sauce is excellent. We wished we had more bread to sop it all up because the sauce was that good. I had the Orleans Red fish and it has the same sauce as the crab claws and I thoroughly enjoyed the fish as well as the crab and shrimp that it was topped with. Hubby had the Royal redfish which had more of a buttery cream sauce and it is served with asparagus, mashed potatoes and an additional side. He was STUFFED and could not finish it all. We both paid the up-charge for the crème brûlée sweet potatoes with honey butter and they were divine. Nothing like a side of dessert to complement your savory dish. The service was super quick for a Saturday night and the restaurant has a super cool and elegant atmosphere in an older upscale building. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in the area!

talk about a comeback…read more The Southern Table staff and management sought to ensure we had a great experience this time and excelled. Great customer service and I greatly appreciate their accountability/ willingness to make up for our previous visit. Last night we started with the crab croquettes, STELLAR. Absolutely loved and devoured these. The crunch on the croquette was to die for, topped with a refreshing crab salad, perfect. For my entree, I had the lamb rack with house potatoes & broccolini. My boyfriend had the blackened catfish with the grits. Both dishes were phenomenal . To finish up we tried their new chocolate strawberry bread pudding, so rich and delicious. This restaurant is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in Northern Alabama. Go give them a try! We'll 100% be back.

One description said this had a hunting lodge atmosphere. I suppose that's true If your hunting…read morelodge looks like an early 20th century brick building with a few deer heads grouped in one spot on the wall and a small black bear above the door. This seemed to want to be a foodie destination. The half, fried chicken included a small drumstick, small wing, piece of breast, and another piece that was unidentifiable but might have been a thigh. It had a spicy sweet sauce covering, which we opted to have on the side. That was a good choice because the hint of cayenne was still too much for one diner. We asked about the slaw -- whether it had a cream or vinegar dressing. The server described it as a "creamy vinegar." It made no difference because the dressing was so understated that the side tasted more like chopped cabbage than anything else. Disappointing. Finally, I asked the server whether the grilled green beans were actually that. I was more curious than anything else because grilled green beans would take longer to cook. She said yes, they were grilled. I don't think so. They came out fairly quickly and were pretty universally blackened all over like they were cooked in a skillet. Once our food was delivered, we never saw our server again until I asked for the check. So, what I believe was intended to be an elevated dining experience was simply under executed.

Goode fried food is hard. The fried menu items I had here were the best I've had in years!…read more The setting is far off the beaten path, but I found out why as we were leaving. Service was quick and cheerful from all the staff. I had the fried catfish, baby lima beans, fried okra, and hush puppies. Spouse had shrimp basket, hush puppies, and homemade potato chips. As you can see, multiple fried foods. Fried okra is how I test "country" cooking. This was the best fried okra I have had in years. The catfish, shrimp and hush puppies were all excellent. It seems like they use a very light oil, but however, they do it the results are crunchy, non-greasy and bring out the flavor of the food. The way frying is meant to do. Very light breading but just enough. The baby lima beans were excellent. So many times I've had side orders that tasted just like they were scooped out of a 5 gallon can of Sysco product. I could be wrong, maybe it was the very very mild seasoning, but these did not seem commercial. A few caveats. There was a single catfish fillet and it was quite small. I recall getting the catfish fillet meal at the old Gibson's on the Parkway before it burned down. Two large fillets. But actually they could not compare to this. Hush puppies were excellent, I like more onions in them. But that's my preference. But for me, this does not takeoff from the overall five star rating, which I rarely give on a first visit. If you like country food, by all means go here. We will be back.

In town for a conference and the restaurant was a block from my hotel…read more Inside is very casual. Kinda bar-like with a nice restaurant vibe! We sat at the bar since it was packed. Service at the bar was good considering every seat at the bar was taken. We ordered our food and it was out within 15-20 minutes. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken, but subbed the sides for the whole fried okra and Gouda grits. When I say those grits and okra hit.....somebody in that kitchen knows what they're doing! The chicken breasts were juicy and flavorful. The spice level was typical for Nashville hot chicken, which I sometimes I can't take. But I loved the flavor so much I couldn't stop eating it. I will eat here again when I return to the city!

I found The Southern Kitchen & Bar completely through Yelp and the Yelp reviews, and I am glad I…read moredid. When I came in, the place was crowded, which is usually a very good sign. It had a good energy right away. I had been looking at a few things on the menu and was really going back and forth. I was interested in the hot chicken, the Brussels sprouts, and also the ribeye Philly cheesesteak. They told me both were really good, and I ended up going with the ribeye Philly cheesesteak. Great choice. I also got a side salad with the chipotle ranch dressing and that was very good too. Picture below. For dessert, I was planning on getting the key lime pie, because that is usually my move, but Hayden my server talked me into trying the blueberry cobbler cheesecake instead. I am glad he did. It was very good. Picture below. Between the crowded room, the good service, and the food, this was a very strong experience all the way around. I am giving The Southern Kitchen & Bar 5 stars.
