My husband and I were in town visiting and decided to try this spot out! Really cool vibe inside and we had the BEST bartender, Eden, take care of us! Eden was super friendly, easy to talk to, and kept us laughing all night. She made incredible drinks, was attentive from start to finish, and made sure we were always taken care of. Great service like that really makes a night memorable. The food was just as impressive. The chicken Alfredo was especially yummy and the sweet potato casserole was hands down one of our favorite dishes. Everything was delicious, and the combination of amazing food and outstanding service from Eden made for a perfect evening. We'll definitely be back and asking to sit in Eden's section! read more

I've been to this location twice now the first time we had a waiter who was awesome very personable and helpful with the menu. My dad is older and he came with us and he's very picky about where he sits and how loud it is and the waiter was just really accommodating. Also, obviously the food was fabulous. I used to go to the one in Spanish Fork and then they closed and I was devastated so I was really happy when they reopened over here in Foley. I don't know if they're the same owners or what I know it's a chain, but I would really looking forward to the crab soup which did not disappoint. The second time we came there was a waitress who was OK, but she had someone trailing along with her and the person trailing along kind of made it a difficult experience. First of all they put five of us at a four topper, and it was rather squished. I am not a small person and I don't like to be squished, but they didn't seem to have any other alternative. Every other table in there was a four topper. They didn't have any two toppers that you could move over to the four topper either which I think is a mistake. I also felt like the person helping us was really rushing us through in fact they were both rushing us through. I understand it was a Friday night and it was busy and they wanted to make room for other people but it I don't get to visit with my dad that much and when I do, I want to sit and talk to him and enjoy myself not feel like I'm being rushed out the door. My food was also not hot. Not cold but not hot. Everybody else seem to love the food though so maybe that was just mine. The soup was delicious again. And my dad really couldn't speak enough good things about this place which tells you that at least he loved it. I would definitely come back. I don't give one star reviews...this experience tested this. Let me start positive. This place has an awesome vibe and decor. Whoever designed this location and decorated it, killed it. Comfortable and quaint Cajun feel. I love the Half Shell brand, this is the 5th location that I've tried. Prior to this, 3 of 4 of the Half Shells I've tried have been fabulous and consistently very good. This is the first Half Shell location that I've dined at that only our server checked on us and our experience. No interest from management or other servers. Late brunch arrival, but I think our server was over sat, so reduced fault to him. This is the first review I've written that possibly involves fraud. I took pictures because the food pricing on the menu does not match what they charged me. I don't know how my wife's "happy hour $7 Bloody Mary" turned into +$14.00 on the receipt...we did ask for Tito's, but does this double the price? Ok, maybe we give a pass on that, but it did not come with olive and the glass was not seasoned as described in the drink menu...and like every other Bloody Mary that we've ordered at the other Half Shells. I chose the brunch country fried steak as my meal. I will say the hash brown sticks were fantastic and the gravy wasn't bad but my filet "country fried steak" was over fried and salty. I did not finish it. Guess what folks, the price on the menu did not match what I was billed (and paid). Yep, that over fried and salty steak costs $20. The front of house staff were hustling, so I don't blame them though I did see one of the managers several times. They did not check on us, and I didn't see them check on any tables. This is uncharacteristic for the brand, I love the brand and group. Does a $3 overcharge from the menu price break me? No, I've reviewed Spago and done reviews on multiple continents. Whether I'm paying $450 for a meal or $50, don't deceive me. This was a 3 star review prior to me receiving my bill and 4th out of five Half Shells, but given the fact (in my photos) that the food and drink did not match delivered product and/or price, I struggled with maybe giving this a one star review. Our experience was clearly the worst of the Half Shells locations. I will not try again, this is the first establishment that I've reviewed where the prices on the menu did not match the bill. To be fair, I did ask our server about the discrepancy in the drink Delivery versus description and he brushed it off. I still did tip my server 20%, because I really didn't think any of this was his fault, though he could have told us there was an up charge for the drink selection, if there really was that resulted in doubling the price. I made it for the first day grand opening and it is pretty much like the other Half Shell locations I've visited. They do nice shrimp, oysters and fish. Their sweet potato casserole is very well done and is the absolute best thing they serve here! Their sides are generally better than most places. The service is generally around fine dining quality as is the ambiance while still being a bit laid back. All of my friends have been extraordinarily impressed with the sweet potatoes. read more

Thrifting on a dreary day visiting the beach and ended up in Foley. We stopped for lunch and being from Louisiana this place was our choice! We took quite a while to decide what to order for everything on the menu looked amazing! We started with the fried green tomatoes and crab cakes, did not disappoint! Entrees were red beans and rice, really good smoky flavor and beans cooked to perfection! Voodoo shrimp poboy, somewhat sweet and spicy sauce on shrimp, Gambinos bread always amazing! Fried shrimp and charbroiled oysters, perfect! The service was a bit slow for the time of day we were there, 2:00ish. Our waitress Amber was super friendly! Loved the atmosphere, jazz in the background, brick and oyster shell clad walls. I branched out and got the watermelon splash, very tasty and 1 of the only pictures I got! Went just for some oysters (raw & charbroiled). I like that since the charbroiled had a small oyster they added an extra one (that's doing it right!). We added a shrimp and crab bisque to the order and did not disappoint. Waiter was efficient and did not hover which was well noticed. The menu is very inviting and prices are reasonable and the portions looked like a good value. The atmosphere feels like you are somewhere other than Foley. We will return and explore more menu option read more

Avoid the tourists and enjoy a fantastic meal in a relaxed environment. I'd give this place 10 stars if they'd let me. The food was amazing. So many great choices. Prices were reasonable--certainly better than the traps not far away. The service was welcoming and warm. We decided to eat here on July 4th and were surprised there was no wait. Unfortunately, we were seated at a table right next to the area where they rip the paper table coverings from a giant roll. This is the same area where all of the staff were standing around. That was a little annoying...especially since they had several other empty tables available. The house salads were good. The sweet potato crème brûlée and bananas foster cheesecake were delicious. The chicken alfredo was dry and too spicy. The filet came out too rare. The waitress was very nice when I asked if they could grill it a little longer, but the steak came back charred and tough as shoe leather. I tried two bites and couldn't eat any more. We appreciate that they offer a military discount. We will give them another try and order seafood next time. read more

Our experience here on an early Friday evening was great. I checked in online to the waitlist and it worked like a charm. Super nice interior. We were visited by management to be sure everything was going well. We had oysters "almost" Rockefeller which were good but missed the mark in my opinion. We went to the Foley location opening day for lunch. I have to give it a ten. I'm not sure I've ever gone higher than a nine. Good drinks, redfish Orleans was amazing and the crem brûlée sweet potato side dish (that's right) was incredible. We never heard of that before. Excellent seafood gumbo. Fast, friendly service. If I could think of even the slightest misstep I would mention it, but I can't. Prices weren't cheap but in line with similar places, so I'd say they were fair. Very nice atmosphere. Oh, our table was a little wobbly, but I'm not taking off for that. Maybe the management can check on the tables. We'll be back soon and I don't usually say that. Next time we'll have to get dessert. I went for the Brunch. Upon entering the building, I noticed a strong off-putting alcohol-based smell. My shrimp po'boy was ok. Tomato was not good. The staff was sweeping under the tables after a crowd left, but my problem was they were sweeping towards the bar while we were there eating. Then they turned the lights off in the bar area. Didn't make us feel very welcome! Don't know what message they were trying to send, but it didn't feel good! The strong alcohol cleaning smell was off putting in the bar as well. read more

Im not much of a drinker but their cocktail menu looks interesting. Not really expensive considering quality of food. Service was above average. Will be back often. read more

The food was good. We went on a Sunday the waitress was overly slow. I had to ask 3 times for ice tea. The food didn't come out right away like promised. We sat for at least 1 1/2 hours. We tried Half-Shell Foley today, July 9, 2026 for lunch around 2PM. I don't want to be too critical as they've only been in operation a couple of weeks. The short review is that the service was good considering the staff was clearly still getting up to speed. Not fantastic but completely fine. We had gumbo, bisque, blackened catfish, grits and an oyster sampler with Oysters Rockefeller, Bienville, Orleans and Charbroiled. Most of the items were really good, above average even. Not necessarily great but perfectly acceptable EXCEPT (ironically) the oysters. It wasn't even that they weren't great, they actively tasted just wrong, kind of bitter but otherwise no real taste of the featured ingredients. I don't really know how to describe it other than edible but certainly not good. I'll probably give 'em another try in a few weeks. I think they have the potential to be really good, the atmosphere was very comfortable and the staff was eager to please. It's just that with competition like ACME Oyster House, Tin Top, Original Oyster House, etc. within a 15 minute drive, you better have your seafood chops on display every time. read more

First time at the Foley location. I must say I was disappointed. The Tuscaloosa restaurant has a constant experience of great food and service. The food was definitely not up to par. Asparagus was old. Food was lukewarm and missing the sauces. Service was lacking although the waitress was very sweet. We walked right in and had the best experience. Colby was our server and he did such a great job taking care of us and making great recommendations. The food was DELICIOUS! We had raw oysters (the best), fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, snapper special, Argentinian Shrimp, fried okra, cheese grits and nobody left unhappy. We recently visted Half Shell Oyster House in Foley,Al and this place is amazing. It has a nice ambience New Orleans vibe. The food is delicious everything tasted like it was cooked with love.
