I ordered the blackened red snapper with etouffee. The meal came out fairly quickly. The fish was good and a good size portion. This restaurant is located right by a marina. It's the definition of a fish camp. There were a lot of kids running around and screaming so it was quite noisy. Once we were seated, we waited almost 10 minutes before our waiter showed up, and he didn't seem too happy about it. We were only given food menus, so we asked for the liquor list. He neglected to bring the Happy Hour list, so we had to ask for that. It was all very time consuming. Now we were as irritated as our waiter. We ordered drinks and when they finally arrived, my husband's Gin and Tonic was just tonic water. So, the circle continued. We eventually got around to ordering food from the Happy Hour menu. We had the Bang Bang Shrimp, the Southwest Egg Rolls and Chicken Tacos. I can't say we were thrilled with any of them. The shrimp was the best of the bunch, and they were mediocre. The Southwest Egg Rolls were overcooked and, oddly enough, had no flavor. The small tacos contained very lightly seasoned chicken and lettuce. There was no salsa or any other condiments. First time visiting after a day on the water. They gave pull up dock so you can step right off the boat and enjoy a meal. Patio is dog friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Server was friendly and the food came out quickly. Everything was fresh and delicious. Teenagers liked their build your own burger that had plenty of options. The nachos were good and even the half order was a large portion. The shrimp tacos were very good and flavorful. The pork sandwich had a very generous piece of meat lol! We loved our meal here! We finished a jet ski excursion at 7:30 then went next door here for dinner. We had to wait 39 min but they have a good text system and we played cornhole in the waiting time. We were seated outside and the view is exactly what you hope for. Food was great! I don't like a lot of fried stuff. We got the grilled shrimp tacos and the bbq tacos. Both excellent. Side of sautéed veggies was mostly broccoli and just fine for me! Son had bbq brisket Mac and cheese and enjoyed it. OSO is a staple stop every time we go out in the boat. We stop in for gas and while we are there we usually grab some brunch and or drinks. The service is fantastic. We have some regular wait staff that we love seeing. The vibes are immaculate. Definitely worth a stop if you have never been. read more

OSO has been around awhile now but they are the newest restaurant in their current building, which has hosted other restaurants in the past. This was previously a restaurant named Flipper's and for the most part the building hasn't changed but they no longer give away free ice cream like they used to at Flipper's bar. OSO at Bear Point Harbor seems to offer a bit more of a fancier menu than the old Flipper's did. They do seem to host more live music these days at OSO. The food and service is ok but after eating at OSO a couple of times I really haven't been that motivated to return for the food but I have been back for the music. While the food is good here it is a bit further to drive out here than a lot of other spots and it can be crowded with a wait for a table sometimes. The ambiance and building of OSO is very cool and you can get some nice water views from many spots. They also have a big bear statue in front of the restaurant which I have also seen the same huge bear in Helen, Georgia and in Nashville, TN at Von Elrod's Beer Hall. read more

I'm a local and have eaten here many times but the food has degraded over time. This last experience sealed the fact I will never eat there again nor can I recommend them to anyone else. The food was horrible. Ordered the snapper, grilled but it came out severely overcooked and blackened. Waitress took it back with the request to not overcook it and not blackened. It returned exactly as before. It was so dry that I nearly choked on the single bite I ate. I asked the waitress to just have it taken off the bill as I could not eat it. Of course, she said she'd have to get the manager's approval. When she gave us the bill, there was no mention that the manager agreed to take off 50% of my platter. I paid $14 for what?! Because it took forever just to get that far AND the fact the manager did not come to our table, we chose to pay and leave, never to return. Do yourself a favor, skip this one. Oso at Bear Point is tucked away but easy to find with ample parking, this spot is a winner! We sat outside, and our server's great suggestions made our meal perfect. I had the coconut shrimp bowl, and my husband got the shrimp platter--both were fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. The live band was fun, but watching boaters and the sunset steal the show. We had the sweetest waitress named Sasha(if I remember correctly) she was very helpful and on top of things. Oysters weren't great but they made up for it with the Big Tuna and the Shrimp Poboy. We were able to call ahead and get "on the list," which is always a plus! However, they don't officially have reservations. We ordered a variety of items in our party of 10 and we were all VERY pleased and portions were just right! We had the gumbo ramen (rated a 10), proud Mary (rated a 10), blackened red fish (10), tempura tantrum (7), fried shrimp (9) and kids ate a variety of items and they all loved their meals! Great little spot with a good view! Gravel parking lot, large interior with an outdoor bar with live music. We had the Bao buns (delicious!) I had the Cajun pasta which was very oily and lacking in the unique department but was very large in portion size. Garlic bread was char burnt French bread slices. Husband got the grouper and it was absolutely delicious. Asian slaw tasted heavily of what I think was sesame oil? Not a fan. Tater tots lacked seasoning. Would go back for grouper alone and to try another dish. read more

Absolutely the Worst Attempt at Dining Experience I've Ever Had I don't write reviews often, but after what happened at OSO, I feel compelled to warn others of a one woman trash tornado named Brandy. We came in with a group of 15 and were told it would be a 45 minute wait. An hour later, we were still standing there, even though a large table sat empty the entire time, the same table we eventually were told was ours. Once finally seated, things only got worse. A powerful fan was blasting directly onto my wife, son, brother-in-law, and 80-year-old uncles face. It was clearly making them uncomfortable. My wife politely asked if it could be turned off. The server's response? A ridiculous excuse: "If we turn that one off, all the fans go off and everyone outside will be uncomfortable." This was a blatant lie, as all the fans were independently plugged in and within arms' reach. The solution? Unplug one fan. It would've taken two seconds to prioritize the comfort of a large party of paying customers. After the dismissive attitude from the server, I quietly unplugged the fan myself once she walked away. What happened next was truly shocking. The manager--a woman who clearly has no business in hospitality--stormed over and yelled at me in front of a full patio: "Don't ever touch my fans! And don't ever speak to my server like that again!" Here's the kicker: I hadn't said a single word to the server. Her unhinged behavior was not only embarrassing but completely unacceptable. The only explanation I can think of for the manager's unprofessional, aggressive outburst is that she was either intoxicated or on something. Her behavior was erratic, loud, and absolutely disgraceful. I've never witnessed a "manager" so hostile, condescending, and out of control. To make matters worse, we waited 15 minutes for drinks that never came--because, as we later found out, the server had dropped the entire order inside. She came back 10 minutes later with new drinks and dropped those right before getting to the table. At that point, 8 of us had had enough and walked out. On the way out, my wife approached the manager to express how poorly we'd been treated by the her, and was met with more verbal abuse. The manager made it crystal clear: she didn't care about customer satisfaction, didn't care if we reached out to the owner, and didn't care if we left bad reviews. Her level of defiance and disrespect was off the charts. Honestly, I don't know how OSO is still in business. The phrase "fish rots from the head down" comes to mind--and the rot here starts with a bitter, power-tripping manager who has absolutely no place working in the service industry. I can't imagine how miserable the staff must be working under someone like her. If I were on that team, I'd quit within 30 minutes. Avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of restaurants that know how to treat their guests like people. OSO is not one of them. read more

The wait staff seemed uninterested and lacked basic knowledge about the menu, which didn't instill much confidence. The biggest red flag? Peel-and-eat shrimp that weren't local -- imported seafood at a waterfront restaurant in Orange Beach just doesn't sit right. What was supposed to be a relaxing evening quickly turned into one of the most disgusting and poorly handled dining experiences of my life. While we were sitting at our table, a patron from above literally vomited on us. Yes--you read that right. We were thrown up on mid-meal. You'd think in a situation this extreme, the staff would step up, take accountability, and do everything in their power to make it right. Enter Brandi, the manager on duty--rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in both empathy and professionalism. She showed zero urgency or concern, barely offered an apology, and told us there "wasn't much she could do" besides a measly 50% discount on some items. We couldn't even finish our food or drinks after what happened, for obvious reasons. No comped meals. No genuine apology. To the owners of OSO Point: You seriously need to reconsider who you put in charge of your guests' experiences. If this is how you treat paying customers in a health hazard situation, it's a wonder you're still in business. Absolutely disgusting. Never again. read more

We arrived to OSO on this beautiful day by boat with a group of friends. My husband and I enjoyed the game day special of 2 sausage dogs with fries. This entree was enough to share. The sausage was cooked in boiled peanut water which sounded quite tasty and it was delicious. Perfectly spicy with grilled onions and bell peppers. The loaded tots were different... topped with corn and black beans with less "sauce..." The chips and dips were just okay and the bushwacker was all alcohol! Very disappointing experience. The hostess sat us at the closest table to the door. It was a cold night so I asked her if we could sit by the window instead because I knew we'd get blasted by cold air each time the door opened. All but one window table were available but she refused saying they're for large parties. 6 tops, 2 of us. Okay. I get it. The problem is, within 10 minutes, she'd seated two of those tables with couples, like us...couples who'd not specifically requested to be seated there. As she passed, I said, "That's not cool". She said "There was nowhere else to put them". No apology or offer to reseat us. She just blew me off. I'd chalk it up to bad luck but one of there was always one open window table the entire time we were there. And meanwhile, my wife was blasted with cold air every time someone entered or left. Our food was good, but the prices are a bit high for what you get. We had a lovely server who did a great job. But that hostess and her lack of customer service really impacted our meal. The manager, Brandi, needs to be fired. Horribly inconsiderate and rude in a health hazard situation where our table was literally vomited on from the upper deck as we were dining. No apologies given AT ALL. Multiple of our families vacation here every year and will NEVER give our money to this establishment again. Instead of asking what the restaurant could do in this situation, Brandi offered to get the person who was vomiting so we could confront them ??? No confrontation was needed or wanted to be had. Fun place on the dock to get a good beer and appetizers! Ambience is a little lacking but is made up by the friendliness of patrons and wait staff. After a day on the beach you can hit this place in shorts and flip flops and have a great time in a neighborhood gem. Hard to find but worth the look. read more
