Love the divey feeling of this place within a neighborhood. It's almost easy to miss it driving by. But the service was really great, and the Paddy Shack burger was great. Kind of a cool little place. Bocce ball in the basement. I have never ate here but drank my fair share. Don't order anything goofy because this is a working mans bar and the bartenders frown on that. I will never forget the stare I was given trying to order some goofy shooters for a group I was with a few years back, he wouldn't make them and told me "this is a workings man bar", so I ordered straight whiskey instead. read more

Dive bars are cool and a vibe i can roll with... The bathroom however smelled so nasty that even the impressive mountain of ice that filled the latrine couldn't keep up with the hard to describe stench the poured out of that room...How anyone could consider eating at a place that smelled that unhealthy is beyond me. Message to the owners: yes its an a neighborhood favorite, but you seriously need to address that issue. Keep everything thing else dingy and divey if you like but for the love of all that is holy fix the bathrooms. Gross!! read more

I cannot state more strongly that the paddy shack burger is the best burger I have ever tasted. The sheppard a pie is also really, really good. I have been there 6 times and cannot get past either of these two items as they are so good. I really shod try other things but that burger..... Four stars because the alcoholic regulars near the front door leave something to be desired. read more

Visited here for lunch with a friend who uses a walker. Because this is a "dive bar" I was a little hesitant, but we wanted to try the food so took a chance. As we arrived we noticed a step up into the entrance, but a nice gentleman must have seen us pull up in front and magically appeared to open the door and help my friend up. My friend had delicious tomato soup and she also loved her fish and chips. I ordered the corned beef sandwich with fries. The bread was toasted nice and crisp, the corned beef was delish and was topped with a tangy slaw. The fries were nice slabs and crispy, not greasy. I am a big eater but ended up bringing home half of the very filling sandwich. When it was time to leave, a thoughtful crew member helped us out the door. So kind. I will be back and next time it will be to enjoy beer and free popcorn and live music as well as food. I can't wait to try some of the other Irish favorites on the menu. read more

Ok this review is mainly on the Classy Lassy chicken sandwich. Nothing Classy about it. It was billed as a chicken sandwich stuffed with cheese with watercress on top. I thought that sounds healthier than mac and cheese or a burger. Wow either option would have been better healthier option. They should call it a cardiac chicken sandwich. When the waitress brought it I said I'm sorry I ordered the Chicken sandwich I think you brought me the wrong meal. She said no that is right and I gave her a look of disbelief and said is there chicken in there? She said there was and left. There was so much beer batter breading and so little chicken... I cut the breading off and had a few bites of chicken it was ok but very oily and the apple jam and cheese stuffing which sounded good was an odd combo. She did apologize and I said maybe you should list it as beer battered for those looking for a healthier option since chicken is a go to for many. She said everything here is fried except the salad but she will let them know. So for $12...I had 2-3 bites of chicken and no offer to get me something else. On the upside my friends mac and cheese was fabulous he said. Also on the down side our glasses of soda and tea were completely empty so she offered to bring us water??? I said can't we have a refill and she said she guessed she could do that. So I thought they must charge for refills on soda and tea... I will say for a dive bar with the appropriate amount of ripped seats I thought the place was clean.. so I might go back for happy hour, but I think lunches will go somewhere else. read more

Used to love this place, but in the past year or so the service has gone down significantly. The bartenders are more drunk than the patrons and would rather stand around socializing with each other than pour someone a beer. I have gone on some of their busiest nights in the past few months and it is always the same thing...bartenders taking shots with each other or the people they know and then they turn their backs and count their tips and act like they have no clue that 20+ people are waiting for a drink. This was my first time coming here but it won't be my last! I had the cod fish and chips, something I frequently order when eating out. The fish was lightly battered, crispy on the outside, and melt in your mouth moist inside. The potato wedges were cooked perfectly crispy on the outside soft and yummy on the inside. Then a side of mushy peas for a bit of spice. I thought it was nice at the end of the meal when Chef Jack Riebel stopped by our table to check if we enjoyed our meal. Stopped in on St. Paddy's Day for lunch only to find out that they RAISED the price of drinks for the day and changed the menu to an OVER PRICED, reduced selection menu. I ordered the fish & chips for $12.00. The burger option would have been a better choice - the 2 small pieces of fish looked more like 2 pieces of shrimp. $6.00 for a 22 ounce green Coors lite. Bars jacking up their rates on special occasions is just plain taking advantage of its patrons!! read more

We returned to visit the Half Time Rec 15 years after leaving our old neighborhood. The food and service was awesome. Lost at pull tabs but the Bloody Mary made up for it. Great food and atmosphere. Kid friendly read more

I went to the bar last night (1/13/15) for the first time. I asked which hot dog on the menu the server would recommend and her response was "I don't know?" I then ordered a Lift Bridge, Farm Girl (beer) and the server brought me out a Summit, EPA. I told her that it was the wrong beer, she said that she was going to bring me the correct one and never did. Good thing she left the EPA on the table so I just drank that. When It was time to get the bill, I asked the server to grab our check. After a half hour of waiting for the bill and the beer that I did not order finished, I had to go request the bill from the Bartender. The best part was this morning when I noticed that they charged my checking account twice for my meal. One charge was for $48.00 and another charge was for $25.00? I called the bar to talk to someone about this. As soon as someone picked up the phone I said that I needed to talk to someone about being charged twice for my meal last night. His response was "You need to call back later, I am very busy right now and I might charge someone else twice for their meal by accident." I have never written a review for anything or anywhere before. I just find my experience to be worth sharing. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in town! The hardest thing is to decide what to have, it is all that good! The corned beef is incredible. The fish and chips and mushy peas are as good as British fare. The hamburger is great too! And, don't forget the lobster roll! read more

My son and I went there last night to watch the baseball game. We originally were going to go to Gabe's but it was packed. So by default we ended at Half time Rec This place used to be an Irish bar with Irish music, but even back then it was a real quirky messy place. Now it is remodeled but still it lacks charm. The service was very poor. No one seemed to mind that we were just sitting there waiting to place an order. Eventually my son went up to the bar and ordered 2 beers. The worst part of the whole experience was that the music was so loud that we couldn't talk. Having ear crushing music is so 70s and 80s. I get that they attract a certain blue collar crowd but really? Does it have to be that loud? have heard that the food was good but we were there for a beer and to watch the game. 2 TVs had on the baseball and all the rest the same football game. Will I go back? Probably not. I am not the type of people they want at their place. read more
