This was a special, private tasting experience meant for the discerning wine lover. We were treated to a private cave tasting that had eight pours from various small lots. The information given was exceptional. The wines were pricey (over $200/bottle), so keep this in mind when visiting.

Cortney was our wine educator and she was fabulous. Gave such a great summary of the history of Hall and its wines. The chandelier tasting was beyond special and experience we won't forget. This is a must if you are passionate about wine and want a breathtaking setting.

cheese and wine pouring was perfect!

I had such an amazing time at HALL's Rutherford location! I booked an Appellation Experience for 2 people on a Monday afternoon - there were no other guests for the day, so it felt like a private tour. WINE Each of the wines were amazing! My personal favorite was the 2017 Bergfeld Cab. HALL is definitely known for the cabs - and they are GREAT - but I was also pleasantly surprised by the other wines. I loved the WALT Blue Jay Pinot Noir and purchased a bottle to take home! EXPERIENCE The Appellation Experience includes a tour of the property + a tasting that includes a small charcuterie board. It was a great experience and felt super personalized. We could choose to have our tasting at either the chandelier room or outdoors (we chose outdoors because the weather was amazing). VIEWS 10/10! The views while you're on the property + the art in the property itself + the interior = amazing. HOST Trisha (who is mentioned in other reviews too) was an incredible host and wine educator. She is so friendly and truly makes your experience feel personal and special. MONEY THO At about $125/person (with tax), this tasting experience is pricier than most - but worth it! At $195ish/bottle, the cabs are super pricey, but my Pinot Noir was a steal at $40ish.

We started off with this crisp WALT Chardonnay and an amazing view perched above the valley.

unparalleled opulence!!! this tour & tasty is an absolute must for anyone visiting the napa valley!!! no expense was spared with this breathtaking property!!! this vineyard is truly a labor of love!!! the hall family obviously love wine, they obviously love art & architecture and they obviously love creating & sharing those loves with all of us!!! thank you for sharing your beautiful, breathtaking estate with us!!! we truly appreciated the opportunity to experience it!!!

Incredible experience from beginning to end....the wine, the wine, the wine plus an incredible setting! Can not say enough about DGreen and our time at Hall!

Spectacular! What a great start being welcomed and greeted with a glass of wine upon entering the room with practically-floor-to-ceiling-windows, while taking in the views from inside and out. The tour was very enjoyable.. I loved the beautiful Swarovski crystals adorning the elegant tasting room, and how the table was already set with 3 glasses of the wines we were tasting, a stemmed glass of water, and a small plate of meat and cheese. Considering this location's elegance, beauty, and lovely wines -- as well as pricey tour-and-tasting cost ($60/guest), we were surprised (and rather disappointed) that our tour guide was admittedly new not only to Hall Rutherford, but very new to wines. Having someone (at least) seemingly more knowledgeable, and more of a veteran, would have seemed more appropriate for this sophisticated establishment. Other than that, lovely place and delightful wines. Very enjoyable experience.

HALL Rutherford was a winery / tasting experience unlike any other! Our wonderful host, Natalie, was extremely knowledgeable of the history of HALL/WALT wineries, and she was such a joy to be around during our early afternoon (exclusive) wine tasting and tour. For context, they only see 15 guests a day at this location! HALL Rutherford is in the hills, exhibiting views across the beautiful Napa Valley. We were given a beautiful tour of the winery (and learned of the improvements and iterations the owners have instilled into their winemaking processes). The Chilean Red (chandelier) was worth all of the hype and we felt so lucky and blessed to be able to experience such a beautiful tour on our trip! To close, we were given Kathryn Hill's book (The Perfect Score) - can't wait to read! In short: HALL Rutherford is a must stop in Napa, and we can't wait to visit the St. Helena room as well. Thanks, Natalie!

Awesome tour and tasting! Another unique location in Napa. Hall is rich in history and tradition - both in Napa and outside the valley. The owners spared no expense in putting togther a magnificent wine operation and guest setting, to complement the portfolio of amazing Napa valley wines.

I was sold quick quick because I bought three bottles. We also learned that this family makes balsamic vinegar. Not the type you buy in the store. This is the 25 year commitment stuff. Their vinegar is older than some marriages. Let that sink in. They're only in year three so this vinegar is not available to me and you yet. Stay tuned. Frog's Leap is simply our favorite winery in Napa Valley, and the reasons run deeper than the wine itself. In a valley increasingly dominated by cabernet sauvignon monoculture, John and Rory Williams have stayed true to a different philosophy -- growing and making wines that reflect genuine passion rather than market trends. They are also committed to responsible farming practices like organic, dry farming that are not only good for the land, but result in wines that have a sense of place. That commitment shows in every bottle. Not every varietal will suit every palate (I haven't quite gotten behind Charbono yet - sorry Rory!), but each one is exceptionally well-crafted and represents remarkable value, especially against the Napa marketplace. The wines are site-driven, elegant and balanced, not just over-oaked fruit bombs. The property is gorgeous, the tasting room staff are consistently warm and accommodating, and the winery is genuinely family-friendly -- something that matters to us greatly, as we often visit with our son. It's important to belong to a place that makes you feel welcomed, and not some of the sterile, hoity-toity atmosphere of many wineries these days. The club events and regular pickup party are highlights our whole family looks forward to when they come around. We have many great memories there like getting to help sort grapes in the 2023 vintage, cookie decorating around Christmas timeThere's also something special about seeing John and Rory at those events, hearing directly from them about their philosophy and how the current vintage is unfolding. That personal connection to the people behind the wine is rare and deeply appreciated. If you're looking for a winery that leads with integrity and craft over trend-chasing, Frog's Leap deserves your visit.

It is a 5-course luncheon with wine pairings hosted in their private enoteca overlooking the vines, complete with a personal attendant and private chef to curate the experience. The food was delicious, the wine selection was superb--including their Howell Mountain Cabernets (Cold Springs, Croquet, and Cima)--and the private room was the perfect intimate space. It was such a relief to have a private area where I didn't have to worry about disturbing other guests while having an infant in tow! However, I'm giving this experience 4 stars instead of 5 because it felt surprisingly generic for a winery that typically excels at personalization. In advance of our reservation, I was sent a questionnaire requesting our music preferences and celebration details, but neither were acknowledged during the visit. Why ask for that information if it isn't going to be used? It felt like a missed opportunity to make the experience truly magical. Overall, it was a good experience with top-tier food and wine, but I expected a bit more of that "Clif Family magic" when it came to the details.
