Always great bbq! The beans are a little spicy but still super good! Yelp needed an updated menu for the bbq so here it is! Date of menu post: 11/30/24

This review is purely for the bbq restaurant inside the gas station/beer/wine/liquor store. Don't get me wrong, I will easily give this place as a whole 5 stars, but today I'm here for the bbq. To start the people behind the counter are super friendly. You walk in, look at the chalk board and they ask you in a nice way what would you like to order. Since I'm on a brisket kick I went with brisket on a hamburger bun with onions, pickles and sauce. Not sure if it was the sauce, bread or brisket, but it was heavenly. It was an absolute orchestra of deliciousness in my mouth. I highly recommend it, as a go-to for this bbq joint. This is the type of place where anything you order is going to be great. Next time you need gas, beer or booze and you have a rumble in your tummy, be sure to pick up some delicious Bbq to go!

Two meat plate. Turkey, brisket, jalapeño corn, Mac and cheese

The his place is pretty good and has a unique vibe. Decent brisket and turkey, Mac and cheese was good, I really liked the jalapeño corn

What in the WHAT?! The bbq here is legit!

Okay I'm updating. I used to stop in here for vino only and would smell the heavenly smells. Forever I have been hearing incredible things about the BBQ here and have always for some reason ignored the recommendation. Not sure why as it's so convenient - perhaps because it's tucked away inside of the gas station so too easy to ignore. Let me tell you I will be a fan from now on! The brisket is thin sliced, juicy and delicious! And moist. I went there. I prefer my brisket that way instead of super thick. The lunch portion is simply perfection. It comes with 2 hearty sides for $10. So amazingly filling! Ask for the onions on the side too. There's other things I peeped on the menu I will be going back to try. I also love going into the wines and spirits section to grab something to go. The food is not too shabby on the wallet either especially with it being good quality BBQ. It's not super easy to find that in the mid-cities area. Continue to support local businesses during these times! And don't be like me and judge every BBQ shop inside of a gas station by its cover.

Red barn's atmosphere reminds me of a local mom and pop shop which I appreciate. I had the hatch chili Mac and cheese, sliced brisket sandwich with spicy bbq sauce and banana pudding. The hatch chili Mac and cheese was delicious, the sliced brisket sandwich was decent and the banana pudding delicious. The brisket could have used a bit more seasoning to take it from decent to great. The banana pudding was fluffy and sweet. The hatch chili Mac and cheese was flavorful. I look forward to trying out more things on their menu. The prices are comparable to local barbecue places.

My husband found the Red Barn Bar BQ a few days ago and could not wait to go back - so there I was - a Saturday afternoon where the heat was over 86 degrees. And it was the best brisket I have eaten so far. It wasn't heavily smoked (so I didn't taste it for the rest of the day) and I didn't feel heavy and had that normal regretting feeling l have when eating this when it's warm outside. I enjoyed every single bite. They also have hand cut fries (love that as you don't see hand cut fries often around where I live). This one is worth the drive, friends. And it's owned by the original person who started this place years ago.

As a Texan, I'm almost embarrassed to admit I prefer pulled pork over brisket, but both were really good. Hot links were actually spicy. I was surprised. Turkey was really good as well. Not a bad side with our order either. Beans, Cole slaw, Green Beans and Broccoli & Cheese Casserole. All, very good. The service was kind and enthusiastic just like at many of the other reputable Texas BBQ joints. Barbecue folks=Good folks. My husband just had a side of the cowboy beans to enjoy for lunch. I thought the beans were excellent. I noticed too that they also have burnt end beans that are more like a baked bean dish. We chose a two meat brisket platter with brisket burnt ends, sliced brisket, the cowboy beans and Mexican street corn to take home. We paid a premium because our platter was essentially a double brisket platter. No problemo! Just give us that brisket goodness! We thought everything was fantastic and would definitely recommend as a great place in North Richland Hills for barbecue. I appreciate the patriotic theme of the restaurant and simply adore the name.

They also suggested the plate dinners were ideal for a single diner. While I considered the ribs plate, I went with my favorite, the brisket. Unfortunately, they had run out of fried okra, so I chose the vegetables and barbecue beans for sides. Do bread, I opted do the jalapeño corn bread. When I was about to pay, I grabbed one of the banana pudding cups. My intent was to sample the sides before I had the brisket. After the first bite of the squash, I could not stop eating. Half the squash was gone by the time I started on the beans. The beans were just as scrumptious. The brisket was okay. A significant amount was dry; not too dry to fetch the barbecue sauce. The jalapeño corn bread provided more flavor than heat. Finally, the banana pudding was also okay. There were enough sliced bananas to cover the bottom of the cup. If it meant smaller sized wafers, I would have preferred more pieces. Fortunately, the pudding itself had a strong banana flavor.
