Everything from beginning to end. I have been an advocate for this restaurant but today was NOT a good experience. My salad was, well...not good. Service was average (being kind), food was ok. I ate lunch there today @ around 1:00 PM Ordered a few items and also ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Skillet plate. The sides were excellent and so was the French Toast. I took 2 bites of the meat and had to stop eating it. Pushed that entree aside. The waitress asked me why I didn't eat the Chicken Fried Steak, if there was something wrong with it. I informed the waitress that "I'm not here to complain and as you can see I can eat a lot of food. BUT there is something wrong with the meat. It is Rotten. It tastes sour and rotten." Man o man!! I guess everything really is bigger in Texas. I wish we could rate with half stars, as well, because I would give it 's and a half but... the format doesn't allow that. (What do you think, Yelpsters? Should we be able to give half stars?) Either way, this cozy Mom n Pop style experience hit the Hungry Hungry Hippo spot for sure. The size of the portions were ridiculous! So-Much-Food! And the prices were incredibly fair and surprising lower than many of the over the top breakfast joints. First thing I look for is a good fresh hot cup of Joe, and I begin my reviews from there. Side note: why is a cup of coffee called Joe? Why not Walter, Jose, Bruce Wayne? Nonetheless, coffee was smooth and not bitter. Our server checked in on us quite regularly to top off our cups, so we never had to ask. Once we placed our order, it was delivered relatively pretty quick. Now for the plates... man let me tell ya... them pancakes were thick and fluffier than Gabriel Iglesias. No joke... unless you're Gabriel... then you're all jokes . The French Toast was probably some Texas Toast, 'cause they be thicc like Lil' Kim! The omelettes were plumped and stuffed with all kinds of happiness. I chose to have Home Fries with the omelette, which were as if Wolverine sliced and diced them himself, 'cause they were chunky. That Breakfast Burrito was astoundingly huge and easily could have fed 2-3 people (that's what she said- Michael Scott). The Blueberry pancakes were made with real blueberries, and the Banana pancakes were made with real Bananas, and the Snozzberries taste like snozzberries! All joking aside... this place was more than what I'm giving it credit for... screw it.. hold up... changing that 3 to a 4 right now! We had lunch here yesterday. I ordered a hamburger with French fries. The fries were great. The burger was good too, albeit a little greasy for me. The Pattie was huge. Dr. Pepper was perfect. My daughter had a ramen dish that she really liked. She also had some kind of latte (huge) that she quickly consumed. They have a very nice coffee bar. My son-in-law had a Mexican dish that he also liked. We took a chocolate cream pie home that everyone enjoyed. We had great service from our server, Veanae. We will be returning. read more

Texan Kitchen is definitely a locals place, but that does not mean they are not friendly to new comers. I've been here once before and found it to be a nice breakfast place with great options. They also serve lunch dishes. I try not to review a place into I've been there at least twice. Gives me a better basis to build a review. I should have gone with my gut and reviewed them after the first visit! This is a seat yourself kind of place so we found a booth and settled in to wait for a server to bring menu's. It was a very short wait (maybe a minute at the most). Daniela arrived with menus and to take our drink choices. She also pointed out they had a new "specials" menu. Most places the specials menu is just a rehash of current menu items with something added to make it "special". The Texan Kitchen doesn't follow that process and instead had unique items staring birria, If you are not familiar with birria it's a slow cooked beef in a adobo marinated. I ordered the Birria Skillet which included two eggs on a bed of potatoes and served with sliced avocado. Jane order her normal three breakfast sides, grits, hash browns and sausage gravy. All three of Janes sides were in her words "excellent" and the Texan Kitchen has replaced her favorite breakfast place! My birria skillet was served on a cast-iron skillet and designed to keep everything warn. The birria had a nice spicy without being overly spiced. Eggs were ordered over medium and perfectly cooked, yokes were still a little liquid. Potatoes were chunks and well made but the birria is the star of this plate. The avocado added a nice touch to the dish. The atmosphere has a locals vibe and not "fancy brunch place" but it is clean and the noice level was low enough to have a conversation without felling like you had to raise your voice to be heard. They have a nice selection of coffee, lattes and iced coffee drinks to go with the sodas and teas. Daniela was very helpful and made sure our meals were perfect and checked back to refill our drinks. She also suggested pie to go as we needed a take home box for our breakfast. The coconut cream pie is still in the frig but it looks delicious. We will be back soon. Texan Kitchen is a hidden gem right off Hwy 183 and Euless Main if you are close or going by on Hwy 183, you should spot and have breakfast or lunch. read more

It does have the space for large parties, we had a group of 5 people. The food was good and fresh. The coffee was good and not bitter. Our waitress was always ready with a coffee top off. We didn't have to wait too long for our breakfast to come to the table. The pancakes were thick and fluffy. The French toast was thicker than a simple slice of bread, with fresh fruit and sprinkled with powder auger. The omelettes are a bit over sized and plump full of the yummy fillings. We chose to have the home fries with our omelettes, thick diced and very good. The breakfast burrito was amazingly big. Could feed two or three people! What a let down. Recently I've seen advertisements posted to Facebook and the photos made the food look very appealing, in particular the meatloaf and mac n cheese. So I ordered the meatloaf w/ mac n cheese to go and when I got home and opened the container my expectations weee immediately deflated. Went here with a friend and though we were welcomed by a friendly staff, we were also welcomed with a weird odor that just continued to get worse even as we ate our meal. Not sure if it was coming from the kitchen or the restrooms, but it was very unpleasant especially when you're trying the eat. The food, well, I'm a big foodie that always takes pictures of my food and I didn't want to take a picture of what I ordered. It was the Southwest Chicken, which was decent I guess. I've had better chicken sandwiches out there. I guess without the chipotle mayo sauce, it would've just been a very bland sandwich. I'm also a French fry lover and I was disappointed. Not sure how long they've been frozen before being cooked, but they were so pale that I wasn't sure if they were fully cooked. In the end, I didn't finish them, and I always finish what I order. We came with a party of 6 and were immediately seated. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The dinner menu isn't huge but has some good old fashioned Texas comfort foods. I got the chicken fried steak and it was really good and filling. Our group decided to share a few pieces of pie for dessert and the banana cream pie was my fave with the Oreo pie being a close second. Overall, our entire group enjoyed the food and we got in and out in a reasonable amount of time. They were also playing some great Texas country music that we enjoyed listening to as we waited in our spacious booth. One of my favorite quotes from my bartending/serving days is this: "A server enjoys some of the finest food in the world on a daily basis.... while standing over a trash can stuffing it in their mouth in 5 seconds." That is kind of what it felt like eating here. I had passed this place quite a few times, and the Texas aesthetic always appealed. Once inside, you see a giant bar wasting away. They don't serve, but you can BYOB. Sadly, the bar is the most beautiful part of the restaurant, but that is sort of a microcosm of what you will experience. The restaurant is in gross disrepair. There are completely collapsed and wet ceiling tiles just feet away from the booths. Fixtures covered in dust and the booths were dirtier than a seat at the old Mesquite AMC 30. The place didn't smell musty, but with little air moving, it was stuffy even in February. The staff is a bit seasoned and jaded, so complaints would likely go ignored, but with a smile. Another cool fixture of this place is the stage. In this way, I really see some potential. The old pics here show some nights that look jumping. It's a small venue, but appealing in that you could listen to some karaoke country and feel at home. It just needs some work. So, the food - delicious! The front in the shape that it is may give the impression that a giant rat is likely cooking your food, but I don't care. Those biscuits were truly homemade. The gravy had flavor without using a meat base, and the hash browns were so tasty and not greasy. A perfext after church meal.
