First time visit. I ordered the eggs benedict, extra crispy English muffins with home fries. When my food arrived I have to be honest I was not sure how it would taste for me because the Hollandaise sauce looked a bit thicker than most places I've been. I have to say I really enjoyed this dish and the home fries were good. My friend ordered the raspberry white chocolate pancake with a side of home fries and I ordered a blueberry pancake to go for the next morning. Everything was really good and the coffee was tasty as well. Service was quick and we were seated quickly for a Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. Very attentive staff and a nice atmosphere. Solid breakfast place in what I imagine is Deep River Center. Nothing too fancy. Just a good, but no frills diner type experience. I asked for a recommendation and our server said Hally Jo's has good corned beef hash. She was correct. They do. Definitely made in house and better than most places. I came across a couple bigger than normal pieces of corned beef and it was quite tasty. The rye toast was good too. I asked if they have iced coffee and our server said yes. I suspect it started at least somewhat hot because the ice didn't last very long. Service was friendly. Some Yelp reviews suggested Hally Jo's can get crowded inside, we actually ate outside at prime breakfast time and we were seated right away and had efficient service. Four Stars read more

Great breakfast and perfect prices. We sat outside on the side walk because the weather was perfect. The waitress brought my son crayons and a coloring book which he loved. They have sourdough for toast and it was fantastic. Their pancakes are huge! We will be back. Deep River is a cute town with a lot of other great places to stop in after breakfast. read more

Listen. The food, great. But, it would be A LOT greater if the workers weren't ASSHOLES. They are never happy and everyone I've talked to agrees. The workers will barely look at you when speaking to you, they don't great you, they don't say goodbye. I am not ordering from there anymore. It's still bad. Even worse. I worked in a cheap diner and our coffee was never this horrible. How can it be both flavorless hot water and offputting in flavor at the same time? It's a mystery of awfulness. How can you continually mess up eggs? How can you continually butcher toast? My town is simple and working class, but that doesn't mean people have no taste. This used to be a regular breakfast place. Stopped going there because it was out of our way and then the covid shutdown. Just returned since I was in the area. Ordered the sausage hash omelette, which had been a favorite of mine. I think they changed the recipe, it was awful. The only good thing is how they changed cooking the eggs, they were cooked and not runny. I also ordered rye toast. It arrived burnt. Went to pay and charged extra for the rye. It is specialty bread. Wow! We were once again blown away ! This time by Hally Jo's brisket hash!!! Delicious as well as reasonably priced. Waitstaff was diligently cleaning tables, booths and seats. The coffee ,"Baronet" is top notch! I spoke with the salesman/delivery van driver who informed me that Baronet is headquartered in Hartford and has been in business since 1930... GREAT STUFF! The pastries and breads made in house are fantastic. The "Cinnabon" bread is wonderful, however it probably could induce a diabetic coma if you consume a second slice! Very Hearty Breakfast. The corned beef hash was chock full of quality meat. The OE eggs were cooked perfectly. The home fries were very good as was the rye toast. The waitress was slammed but managed to stay out in front of it. Very friendly staff and to watch the kitchen bang out meal after meal was fascinating. This was a great small town breakfast restaurant find! Set right on a corner off Main Street, the inside is small but well set up and very inviting. There is limited counter seating in addition to booths and tables. Everyone seemed to know everyone there, and the waitresses were very attentive and kind. The coffee was regular diner type coffee, nothing special. The food was great, we got two of their specials (eggs Benedict and scrambled mix w/smoked kielbasa) which were filling and delicious. It was a little pricey for a breakfast for two, but seeing as we did order two of the specials that is to be more expected. Wow....Sarah F. giving this place 2 stars after an omelette not made to her liking is nit pickingly harsh. I have eaten here numerous times and the results have always been the same. Consistently good food, good service, reasonable prices, and a friendly staff. If I were the owner I wouldn't put much stock in Sarah's review. I think it is nice he listened to their "criticism" but personally I find it off base and judging by the local crowd in there this morning it hasn't hurt business much. read more

I love the outdoor dining and the wait staff is always amazing but the food has gone downhill over the years. The hash brown potato recipe needs to be fixed - it tastes like rotten onions and slimy peppers. The eggs are not cooked to order - you get what you get. But my biggest complaint is that they don't have a restroom for customers! You have to get up and walk across the street and used the restroom at Cumberland Farms. I hate to write a poor review about any restaurant because it's a tough business but this place needs to improve. Small, independently owned cafes are disappearing too fast. This place is a must. There was 5 of us and we showed up just as they were closing. Did they send 5 wet cold bikers away? No way. George and Jessie gave us a place to hang out clothes to dry and stayed open an extra 2 hours to feed us. All of the food had a home town flavor. It is as another reviewer said predictable diner food, but it was good and the portions were generous. The prices were reasonable. It is a fairly small place so if you have a large group you may not be able to all sit together. There tends to be a wait if you come and it's busy because of the lack of space. Visiting my parents and my dad suggested this quaint restaurant in the center of Deep River for lunch. A very friendly greeting by George and (oops forgot the waitress's name) and we were seated by the window. She was very attentive and our drinks arrived quickly. My dad said their chicken salad sandwich was the best. I took my dads suggestion and it was the best chicken salad I've have tasted in a long time. The salad had bits of celery and the right amount of mayo. The sandwich came with chips and a deli pickle. While enjoying lunch a homemade apple pie came out of the oven. It smelled delicious!
