I had a scheduled and confirmed MRI appt yesterday. Unfortunately they didn't have what they needed to perform the MRI. The entire staff was apologetic and very nice. I understand things can occur. This MRI required of me, to abstain from Intimacy with my wife for 72 hours and to fast from midnight until the procedure. Okay not a big deal, nothing to get angry about. Here is where it gets worse!!! I called the next day to reschedule and the automated answering service said they were busy and would answer when available. After being on an automated hold call with music for over one hour without anyone picking up the call, their system ended the call. To me that's way way worse than an honest mistake which occurred at my original appt. What do you think? I had to edit this review, as obviously I needed to call back after their system ended my call without answering. So on my second call, again I've been on automated hold again. I'm over an hour again of hold time to reschedule my appt that was postponed by Halo not me. You'll never guess what happened. Yes you guessed it! Same thing occurred on this call!!! Over an hour and their system ended the call. No patient should ever have to wait 2 hours to talk to a live person to make an appt for a medical procedure. That's an indication that the patient is of no concern to the provider. It is a reflection of their professionalism. It should also cause concern for the rest of their ability in other aspects of their business to provide professional service. My new rating is 1 read more

I can't warn enough about not having anything to do with this business. They care 0% about patients/patient care and 1,000% about profits. Patients are told they would owe a certain amount for testing, only to get a bill for significantly higher. When staff attempted to get an answer from HALO billing, we never got one, which left patients in a horrible position & (understandably) very upset. Patients would ask to talk to our supervisor & we were told not to give it out. The managers at the business are anything but leaders-they bully, threaten and do not take accountability. I was so excited to join this medical group & be part of the impact they said they would have, but seeing the way patients were treated was beyond unethical. read more

My sister recently had an ultrasound performed at this center. She was brought back for her ultrasound and a student (who did not identify as a student) scanned her. There was another sonographer in the room who was on the computer doing other things during the entire scan. My sister felt uncomfortable. Had there been communication- I am sure she would have understood what was going on and felt more at ease. After leaving the facility- imaging and the sonographers worksheet were examined. The sonographer that performed her ultrasound was completely incompetent. Her uterus, ovaries and endometrium were all measured incorrectly. The worksheet had comments on it that did not make sense. Overall- this study was undiagnostic. I called the facility to speak to anyone that could help us out- in hopes that this scan would get read correctly by the radiologist. Today marks 3 days since her scan and it still has not been read. The lack of professionalism was identified at this location and clearly the technician and student have been scanning patients incorrectly and need additional training. Still waiting on a manager to call me. My sister was told that no one could call until she signed the medical release form. That is now done and still have not received a call. Horrible experience. If you want optimal care- do not come to HALO. read more

Received a referral from the VA for an ultrasound at the Indian Wells office. I called them last week for an appointment and was told they would call me back, never did. I went into the Office and was told they do not have a contract with the VA at this office but would refer me somewhere else. I said that all my VA paperwork says to come here in Indian Wells for the ultrasound. Needless to say the staff was very unprofessional and kept interrupting me while i spoke and to the point of being rude. A patient heard what I said and commented her husband had the same issues with staff and VA referrals. Of course, I got the standard run around and was told a supervisor would reach out to me, that never happened. Today I reached out to the VA and informed them that Halo Diagnostics does not accept VA referrals at this location, and I requested another vender. It is time consuming to get this type of runaround and unprofessional assistance. read more

I got an MRI for potential cancer. That was 3 weeks ago. I still don't know if I have cancer because I cannot read my report. They sent an email which put me into a circular process resulting in my just being sent back to the original email. If I had gone to Eisenhower I would've had my results in two days. I had an ultrasound appointment ordered by a doctor. When I got there and checked in, I was told I had a $115 co-pay. When I asked why they said I had not reached my deductible. Having just spent 4 days in the hospital and had many tests and imaging, I knew that was not true. I also believe that through Medicare if the procedure is ordered by a doctor there is no co-pay. I told them that and they said they would check and get back to me. They never got back to me and I was told there was no additional action needed on my part when I left. BILLING FRAUD Dr. Steven Gunberg at Halo Diagnostics in Indian Wells reviewed 2 Sonogram films for biopsy evaluation. The medical service was fully covered / paid by my insurance, incl. biopsy. After Dr. Gunberg (allegedly) completed his review of the films, I asked for a copy of his report. Brianna Ibarra at Medical Records demanded 300,-- USD for it, though everything was covered by my insurance. They still have not released a report copy to me. Medical Records copies may never exceed 25,-- USD per CA Medical Board Medical Records Release Policy, but in my case it's all covered by my insurance. This is a classic billing fraud case. I already reported it to the Inspector General of California, my insurance, and the Federal Trade Commission. More to come. Halo Diagnostics is run by thieves and fraudsters. Don't go there. They don't care a bit about your health. It's all about profit and scams. read more

For approx. 8 years, my son has been a patient at Desert Medical Imaging (DMI) now called Halo Diagnostics. He is part of their "focal laser ablation" study. Our experience has been one of top-notch quality. ---- Unlike some reviewers here, we don't mind waiting. And--honestly, if you have cancer--goodness just wait to be seen..for pete's sake. Bring a book to read, ear buds to listen to music or whatever--play a game, do a puzzle--text some of your friends/relatives you've been meaning to touch base with.-- Lack of patience is a 'disease' we all must deal with. Things typically go real fast..but so do our minds..and this contributes mightily to this nation having a lot of people suffering with insomnia at night & anger--even rage-- during the day. --BTW: Sadly, our suicide rate is mushrooming as well. NOTE: I subtracted a star because at this point in time, we feel that Halo should have additional locations --at least in California-- where one can get C-T scans, removal of cathethers, etc. If not possible to have another branch of Halo outside of Indian Wells/Palm Springs area, then at least a medical facility that "partners" with Halo. We are traveling from northern california, paying for hotel/food--- financially, this isn't ok. read more

This specific location in INDIAN WELLS was literally a lifesaver for me. They discovered a cancerous mass on my right kidney before it had time to grow and spread. I've since had that kidney removed and I am cancer free. This specific location in Indian Wells was fantastic mainly due the fact of one employee named Michelle D. From the very beginning, until after the procedure, she answered all my questions and researched everything I asked of her to get the correct answers. The Operations Director Patrick also responded to me very quickly when I sent a nice review about them. I recently discovered the significant fact that "To avoid Hearing Loss - which doesn't always happen - Clinicians Recommend that patients be fitted with earplugs, earmuffs, and sponge mats BEFORE undergoing an MRI!! I was not aware of this very relevant information. There was no mention of any such amenities. I was not offered a sponge mat to place under my head - what a difference that might have made! There was no offer of earplugs or earmuffs. Had I been offered the option of wearing earplugs or earmuffs - I would have jumped at the opportunity! There was no mention of these amenities. Consequently, I immediately following this brutal MRI experience, - I am suffering with MRI-Induced Vertigo! And it continues to this day, June 8, 2021. read more

HALO Diagnostics - I only wish I had known this prior to my MRI ! - Medical Centers Near Me - Indian Wells, California

I have waited a couple weeks to write this review....I was trying to let my fury cool off so I could write a legitimate review. Well as time goes on and other friends have heard of my situation, I decided it was time. I feel this CAN NOT be swept under the rug!!!!! I went to Halo Diagnostics in Indio to have a hip injection guided by a CT Scan. I have an incredibly strong fear of needles so I had struggled with myself trying to decide if I could do it. I canceled it once due to overwhelming needle phobia. BUT....my orthopedic surgeon who ordered the test assured me that the shot would go relatively fast because it the CT scan would show exactly where to insert the needle....no "digging around to find the correct spot." My surgeon told me it was a necessary step to getting me out of the pain I was suffering every day. SOOOO........I actually went to the Halo Diagnostics on Hwy 111 in Palm Desert to talk to them in person and find out which of the 4 (I think) locations they would recommend for this procedure....and which radiologist. They recommended the one in Indio because of the doctor who would perform it there. My anxiety about the procedure was extremely high so I got medication to help me through the injection. It turned out to be a Terrible.....bordering on Malpractice experience. It started with a CT Scan as I was told. THEN 4 (FOUR) times.....he pushed the needle in...scanned me again with CT....then said it was the wrong spot...then he had to push the needle in AGAIN!!!! He did this FOUR times!!!!!! Each time they did another CT Scan....exposing me to more radiation each time! AND more PAIN!!!! Once he was pushing on the needle and saying " I'm hitting something hard or dense and can't get through" After four (4) times he stopped. He said he didn't really feel that he really got the spot and that after all that it might not work. Due to the lidocaine they use for the injection, if they actually got it in the correct spot and it was going to work......the lidocaine would have it numb and relatively pain free for a few minutes to several hours. When I got off the table the pain was as intense...or more....than when I walked in. I went home so terribly discouraged. One that it did not work. Second...that after dealing with days of anxiety leading up to it...and all the pain of him jabbing the needle in FOUR times....it was all down the drain!!!!! That was Friday. The pain from the needle injection sites very bad all weekend. Monday the doctor called "to check on me"....... ......AND to tell me that he had INJECTED THE ENTIRELY WRONG spot!!!!! The wrong spot. I asked how in the world did that happen??? I don't remember Exactly the way he phrased it (because I was so shocked and angry) but it was that he didn't "check my doctor's orders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I was almost speechless. He then offered that when I came back in to get it "redone correctly " they would make me a priority in scheduling and would not charge me". I was so appalled I didn't really respond. Not just all the anxiety I had to deal with...the pain of the procedure.....BUT also being exposed to 4 times the radiation I should have had. I was raised to not be rude....because I wanted to shout at him that he must think I was crazy to go Back to him and let HIM stick me again! I saw my orthopedic surgeon the next day and he was absolutely appalled at the incompetence of the radiologist. As he walked into my exam room, he told me how upset he was for me. He knew of my anxiety and just how much it took for me to go get the injection. He said he would personally arrange another app for me....and oversee it if I would please go again. He did.....and I DID. The next time was at the radiology dept in Desert Regional Hospital. I was Extremely nervous....even much more than the first time...BECAUSE of the first time. BUT.....it went really great. One "almost painless" stick.....and it is MUCH MUCH better. I just had to warn people and share this experience read more

I went yesterday for an MRI with contrast for large cyst on my ovary and I couldn't have felt more supported. I was very scared as there is chance of malignancy. Wes the technician who has been there for over 23 years was amazing, comforting and made me feel very safe and I was even fortunate enough to meet with a Doctor Who took the time to go over my images with me. The front desk girl was nice. However, once I was doing my procedure, the tech did not communicate what I was having done, what to expect, nothing. She was not friendly and almost forgot to do the one procedure (the main one) I came in for. After each of the procedures, I was never offered any towel or anything to wipe off the lubricant from the ultrasounds. Never told how long it would take to get results, nothing. Left feeling uncomfortable and totally violated. I'm more scared about results now than I was before. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

Billing Nightmare, Broken MRI and Doctor No Show. I had a guided MRI for a biopsy in August of 2022, (almost two years ago). Kaiser Permanente referred me to Halo and authorization was received from Kaiser and the appointment was set. First appointment the doctor didn't show because i was told he was in a deposition, ( I was in a gown and on the MRI table when they told me he couldn't make it). When I went back for the rescheduled appointment I was told that their MRI wasn't working, again already in the gown when they told me. The MRI was finally done. Over a year later I received a past due notice for $531.00 for "Supplies and Material". I called Kaiser and they said Halo never submitted their bill and that it was passed the timeframe for them to do so but that they would call Halo and ask them to resubmit the bill which I also confirmed with Halo billing in Florida. Today I received another past due notice for the same billing date almost two years past the date of the MRI. read more

I had my MRI done in this facility. The staff are pleasant and friendly. You cannot expect excellent service with everyone but Mari and Jennifer made my experience good. If you value your safety, avoid this place at all costs. I suffered severe pain and internal bleeding in my arm from the mishandling of the IV that was inserted for an mri with contrast. I ended up going to urgent care 4 days after the procedure, and the Dr. ordered multiple ultrasounds to assess damage. Two weeks later later I again had to see my physician. All at my cost. It took a full month for my arm to heal. read more

Went there for an MRI on my prostate, firstly the directions were wrong so that did not set a good tone as I was stressed about the procedure and possible outcome. Went in arrive early as stated, there was dark glass at the reception I said good morning and no response, then the glass pulled back about 3 inches and a young lady appeared I again said good morning, my Name is, no response then she said whats your name and do you have an appointment, I told here again and said yes at 0930, no please or thank you. She asked for for my ID and medical insurance, i gave them to her and i told her that the proper answer is please and thank you. No response. Very rude. then I asked her does she want my paperwork, no response she just moved off and started printing paperwork out. She went to had them to me on a clipboard, I told her again I already had the paperwork. She took it looked it over no please thank you, I told her that is all the paperwork I am prepared to fill out. Then she asked for my copayment it was 325 dollars. I gave here my credit card, again no please thank you. She asked me to sign the receipt, I then was told to sit until someone came to get me. I then was greeted by the technician, he asked me if I had already cleaned out my bowels? I told him according to my instruction form Halo it was to be given to be on arrival hence the 45 minutes early for the appointment. I had to ask for a gown so I was able to use the bathroom, the area is very open no privacy. I told the technician I was upset by the rudeness and unprofessionalism of the front end staff. He said he was sorry and will look into it. I then had to ask for a receipt of my payment as they had not offered it to me. The actual MRI went well the technician was professional polite. However I was not told i was going to get and IV with dye on my instructions. Denise who had sent me my instructions and who spoke with me on the phone was nice professional and has since helped me with regards to my complaint. However the manager Shanon who was meant to be calling me regarding the issue spoke with me and claimed she had not read the e mail from me regarding my issues. I am still waiting for her to read this and respond, not holding my breath. Their customer service other than Denis and the technician is terrible. Would not recommend however inthe valley we do not have the same choices sadly. The MRI was on JUly 28th 2020. read more

I had an appointment and arrived a few minutes before the time I was told to be there. I then waited slightly over one hour in a crowded waiting room that had more people waiting than chairs available before walking out. The reception staff members were very polite, friendly, and welcoming, but the office apparently has no respect for patients' time. Also the office made no effort to provide additional chairs or seating for those people forced to stand and wait. When I explained that I was unwilling to wait more than an hour past my scheduled check-in time without an explanation, my copay was promptly refunded as if they were used to dealing with walkouts. I am suggesting my doctor reconsider using this office for imaging referrals. read more

Glossy exterior, poorly trained staff on the interior. At entry: rude receptionist, has zero client interaction skills, clearly behaves as if this establishment is an In & Out drive-thru not a medical office where customers are PATIENTS. I was in the reception area long enough to observe multiple interactions. Each of them unimpressive. In room: 2 techs, not sure why, but luckily the 2nd more experienced woman took over. First tech exhibited the worst bedside manner, basically refused to answer the most basic question, "I don't typically interact". Really? Hmm. That's unfortunate maybe people aren't your business dear. Perhaps visit an imaging center that knows how to engage PATIENTS and take notes. Or, hopefully you will examine your own areas of improvement, and learn from your colleague. If this tech was in training, that should have been disclosed at the start. I've visited many imaging centers over the years, in major cities, this experience was by far the worst, barely saved by the 2nd tech. The 2 stars are only for her, and saved this location from 1. Given the choice I will not return, nor will anyone in my family or circle of friends: treatment matters and I put my dollars and energy where they are deserved. read more
