The young man who helped us today is always consistently hospitable and pleasant. Love the different flavors of ice cream and Halohalo.

Mark needs to learn how to listen. When I ordered, I told him I wanted the longanisa and egg with yellow rice for here. I didn't notice the mistake until I got this receipt on the food tray. There were three ladies having dinner who also had to tell him that they were waiting for their water while they were nearing the end of their meal. One ended up asking for 7-up instead. During my stay, whoever was working in the kitchen called him to the back to ask about a possible mistake on an order for halo-halo. Bro, bingi ka ba? He didn't even say excuse me when he asked if my order was for here or to go. Longanisa and egg are hard to get wrong, but he struck out on the rice part and really making the visit worth it. If you get Mark, double check your order.

I came down to San Diego to attend the funeral and pay my respects to my Uncle Nesting. At the celebration of life after the ceremony, I found out one of his favorite Filipino treats was... halo-halo. So, my cousins had Halo-Halo Cafe cater. MmmMMmMMmmMM... I remember growing up with my parents (I'm Filipino, btw) and how they'd light up making halo-halo for all of us kids. Everyone sitting around, mixing, sipping, laughing, pure happiness and joy in a glass. And great childhood memories. "Should I check this place out?" If the rest of their food is as good as their halo-halo, absolutely. Their version comes stacked tall with all the mix-ins -- beans, jellies, fruit, leche flan -- and of course that big scoop of ice cream on top. They use Magnolia brand Filipino ice cream, with ube as the star, but you can switch it up with buko pandan, mais queso, and others. That little touch makes it feel like the real deal, not some watered-down version. It's refreshing, creamy, and filled to the brim. Generous enough that you almost need two people to finish one. The kind of treat that cools you down and makes you grin at the same time. The staff (shoutout to Myrle) were kind and easy to work with, which made the whole experience even better. You can tell they care about what they're serving. At the beginning of the after-party, the bartender was a little busy -- but when the halo-halo showed up? He had no customers. LOL, I went and got him a Halo-halo as well! I've been told calories don't count when you're grieving. For me, halo-halo isn't just dessert, it's family, it's nostalgia, it's watching everyone's face light up for a moment, even on a heavy day. So if you're ever in San Diego and craving something sweet that feels like a taste of the Philippines, have a halo-halo and raise a glass in honor of Uncle Nesting. I'm sure he'd appreciate it. And, I promise, those calories won't count!

Great spot for filipino food and treats. I ordered 2 Halo-Halos with ube mac ice cream and they were delicious. Service was great and there's plenty of seating inside.

    palabok 10/10

The workers here are super sweet! I had about a thousand questions, and they stayed attentive and helpful the entire time, really appreciated that level of service. Beyond the delicious food, they also carry a wide variety of Filipino snacks. I've seen most of these at other Asian stores, so it wasn't entirely new to me, but it's still fun to see so many options all in one place, including Magnolia ice cream being freshly served which is a nice touch! Now, the star of the show for me? Hands down, the palabok. Probably one of the best I've had, perfectly cooked noodles, super flavorful, and if you upgrade to the deluxe, you get crispy fried pork on top. I make a point to stop here every time I'm in San Diego, just for their palabok. It's that good.

The staff from Halo-Halo Cafe are the best. They catered a birthday party in Coronado. They set up before our party so that the food was hot and ready to serve once guests arrived. All the entrees were super delicious. We had chicken adobo, bistek, pork sisig and combo pansit bihon&canton. I almost forgot the crunchy lumpia. At the end of the night, I was one of the lucky ones that took home sisig & pansit. I made sisilog for breakfast the next morning. I highly recommend Halo-Halo Cafe for your next event. You and your guests will be delighted.

Known for their fresh, daily-baked pastries, it features a self-service (tray-and-tongs) experience in a clean, welcoming environment! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Always making great recommendations for their customers! Parking can be a bit tricky with very few spaces available. Pricing is somewhat higher than it used to be, but then again so is everything else (like gas, lol). They have a great selection of conchas, polvorones, fresh bolillos, empanadas (chicken, beef, jalapeño cream cheese), and custom cakes! Typically, I get the empanadas de piña 10/10! They're so freaking delicious! They feature a golden, buttery, and flaky crust that shatters perfectly when bitten. Inside, they're filled with a rich, jammy pineapple filling that balances bright, tropical sweetness with a sharp, fruity tartness! Highly recommended!

The moment you walk through the door, the smell of fresh baked pan hits you and it is everything. The selection of pan dulce and bolillos had me feeling like I was back in Mexico City. So many options, beautifully displayed. That part alone almost made the trip worth it. But the customer service... yeah, I'm not the only one who noticed. I asked the lady at the register in Spanish if there was any chocolate pan de muerto and she completely ignored me. Like, didn't even look up. Just called someone from the back in Spanish, which, mija, I understood every word. The girl who came to help me was a little better but not much. She told me the chocolate pan de muerto was sold out, which fine, I get it, it was a holiday. But that's literally all you had to say. No smile, no "sorry we're out," nothing. Just took my money and that was that. The panadería itself deserves five stars. The staff needs some work. I'll probably go back for the pan because it really is that good, but I'm keeping my expectations low on the service side.

I've been twice to the new location including its soft opening weekend. I would skip the somewhat overpriced spam musubi. It tasted good but it wasn't life-changing, which I sort of expected for the price. The couple times I went, I found the tables to be sticky so I'd watch out for that as well if you're dining in. The fruit sandos are good if that's your thing. I always find them to be too rich with all the cream and this place was no exception. I've tried all the savory sandos on the menu though, and they're solid. You really can't go wrong. The bobas are pretty good but don't compete with the elite boba shops like 3cat or momofuku. The corn hojicha is what I liked the most out of everything I've tried. Finally, service is average to above average. The person behind the register is usually a disinterested teenagers or 20-something employee but an older guy in the back, presumably a manager, tries hard to accommodate customer requests. So hats off to him.
