I brought my car in for a recall service, and while I was waiting inside the dealership, one of the Halterman's Toyota employees hit my car while driving it on the dealership property. The last thing you expect is for your car to be damaged at a REPUTABLE Toyota dealership where you should feel confident your vehicle is in good hands. This was completely unacceptable and extremely disappointing. After the incident, I refused to have the repair done there because I no longer trust the dealership or the way I was treated. Their response and attitude after the accident were unprofessional and unacceptable. As of today, my car is still not repaired, and this situation is now being pursued through legal channels. I will never return to Halterman's Toyota, will never use their services again, and cannot recommend this dealership to anyone. BUYER'S BEWARE! TDLR; DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE MANY YELPERS/ CUSTOMERS HAVE MADE ALREADY! Where do I even begin? Halterman's Toyota is a very CROOKED and unethical dealership when it comes down to the honesty and integrity of their salesman. My experience begins with an inquiry for a BMW that was listed on their website as a pre-owned vehicle with roughly 800 miles. For context, I am located in Los Angeles, so I decided to give the dealership a ring to inquire about this particular vehicle, and let me just say, I did not get a bad impression from this dealership at all given the many 1-star Yelp reviews that were already posted. At the beginning of my inquiry I was contacted by a saleswoman by the name of Britany, who later put me in contact with a salesman by the name of Nick - this is where things start to go downhill. Upon inquiring about the BMW that this dealership had listed, I promptly asked Nick if I could get a PPI for this particular vehicle to ensure that I would be buying a car that has PROPERLY inspected and cast no doubt on its condition. For reasons that did not make sense to me, Halterman's denied access for a PPI to come out and check the car because they did not want anyone to drive this particular vehicle - reason; "the car mileage is low and we do not want anyone driving it". Ok, that's not a problem, so I gave Halterman's the benefit of the doubt, and I decided to continue with my inquiry for the vehicle. Before I storm into the biggest problem, I do want to address how much of a hassle Halterman's made the paperwork and registration in this process, but, this is not what I want to emphasize. Upon signing any documents, I wanted the condition of the vehicle to be concisely and explicitly addressed to assure myself that I was not buying a car with any issues. Given that this vehicle is a BMW and that it is at a Toyota dealership, I felt that I needed a proper inspection of the vehicle. So anyway, I had requested detailed pictures of the vehicle along with the condition report stating that there be any issues with the mechanics, engine, electronics, etc... Upon my request, Nick did forward me a few pictures of the vehicle and stated that the vehicle is running well and that there are no cosmetic or exterior flaws. However, Nick was not being truthful to me. When the car was delivered 2 weeks later, I received the car with a few flaws. So while skeptical about whether or not the car was properly checked out and cleared through Halterman's inspection, I decided to take my vehicle to my local BMW Dealership - Center BMW in Ventura. Post-inspection, I was told that there were a few serious problems with the vehicle - I was shocked. First, every single tire was cracked and UNSAFE TO BE DRIVEN ON (more on this later in this review); Second, the exhaust was bent and improperly installed; Third, the vehicle had a great amount of rust on the undercarriage to the point where the rust had entered into the Springs, shocks, and control arms of the vehicle. At this point, I had no choice but to dish out an immense amount of cash into something that should have inspected, caught, noted, and fixed by Halterman's Toyota. But no, Halterman's could not care less to note that this vehicle WAS NOT SAFE TO BE DRIVEN! Imagine that - buying a car that has cracked tires and finding out that you have been driving a car that has CRACKED TIRES THAT COULD SOON SEPARATE AND FALL APART! Before I changed the tires, adjusted the fitment of the exhaust, and replaced thousands of dollars worth of rusted cosmetic car components, I thought I would get a second and third opinion from well-known mechanics in Los Angeles. Funny enough, they all addressed that these are not minor but serious issues that should be taken care of AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Clearly, there is A LOT to say about the integrity of this dealership, but just know that they do not take the proper precautionary measures to assure each and every one of its clients that what they are buying/leasing is as described in "new" or "excellent" condition. I have a brand new 2022 Toyota Camry XSE. I recently took my vehicle in for service, because I hit a pothole. I told them I hear a humming noise. They told me that my vehicle has something called heavy choppy tires! I explain to him that I have the tire and rim protection. I was told $1064.00 out of pocket for two tires. I feel like I am being taken advantage of! Choppy tires is something that is out of my control I physically didn't do anything to the tires to make that happen! Prior to this incident I took my car in and was told I needed a wheel alignment which they did. I am taking my vehicle on Tuesday to get a second opinion. There are two parts to the Halterman's story. Part one began in the fall of 2016 when I decided to sell my 2010 Tacoma and purchase a new truck. Between my business and personal life, I own six vehicles. I knew what I wanted and had the cash in my bank. I found the truck I wanted on the internet at Halterman's Toyota in East Stroudsburg. Since I was purchasing the same truck, I didn't need a test drive or financing this should have been a simple transaction. I visited the dealer walked around the truck and agreed to the price I was quoted on the internet. The salesperson wrote a contract my next step was picking up a certified check from my bank and return for the truck. When I returned with the check, the whole process came to a stop as the salesman decided to try to sell me financing. In providing the salesperson with the documents needed to transfer the registration and insurance the salesperson asked for my social security card. I quickly figured out that he was doing a credit check for the financing I did not want. I warned him I would not purchase financing yet for more than an hour I would be sitting at his desk with the check for the truck. He would stop at his desk and tell me the paperwork was taking longer than expected I told him I was late for an appointment. When I couldn't wait any longer, I picked up my check and headed for the parking lot. The salesperson came running after me, and I ignored his pleas to return to the showroom. I would learn that not only did Halterman's run a credit check on me they also had my insurance company add Toyota financing to my insurance policy. Later that day I heard from the Sales Manager, and I agreed to return to the dealership but refused to speak to the salesperson that ignored my warning. The Sales Manager promised he would not mention financing and the paperwork would take less than 10 minutes. I buy a lot of cars trucks and equipment I don't want to waste my time with a song, tour, or any of the garbage car dealers use to shake down customers. If you have a few hours to waste and don't mind the overselling salespeople who won't give up this is the dealer for you. Halterman's Part 2 All new vehicles come with some form of free inspections and routine maintenance. While Halterman's is somewhat of a distance from me, my wife visits her sister in Stroudsburg. This makes it convenient for my wife to take the truck to Halterman's for the Toyota Care service. My truck was scheduled for the 15,000-mile service that should have been a quick check over without an oil change. That evening my wife informed me that this free service cost $213.00. It seems that Halterman's convinced my wife that this low mileage truck needed throttle body service and front end alignment. As a mechanic by trade, I understand the need for occasional front end alignment. What I couldn't understand why I had to pay $100.00 for a throttle body service. A dirty throttle body leads to a rough idle and is very easy to diagnose. It is unlikely that throttle body service is needed before 50,000 miles. However, since this truck is used for long trips, a throttle body can go 100,000 miles without service like my last Tacoma. When I questioned the Halterman's service writer, I was informed that the front tires were wearing unevenly. This contradicted the Toyota multipoint inspection sheet that was written when the truck arrived for service. The multipoint inspection showed the front tires had more tread than the rear tires. Also, my wife was not shown or given the start and finish report provided by the computerized front end alignment machine. The service writer explained that the throttle body service was recommended by Toyota. However, throttle body service is not listed in the owners manual as recommended service for a low mileage truck. I asked the service writer to provide me with a start and finish alignment reports and a Toyota document that recommends throttle body service on a low mileage engine without symptoms. What I got was a sloppy cut and paste job for the alignment, and she did not provide a Toyota document for throttle body service. I see this as taking advantage of a woman. Halterman's may have cheated us once, However for the remaining Toyota Care period and any future vehicle needs I will not be returning to Halterman's read more

The detailing sucked, have been there three times to fix a simple molding, 7 hours to do tires.. the tires they forgot to order. I paid $1000 for them and the total bill was only $800. They did not transfer my registration on my trade in so now the State is going to suspend my license for no insurance, registration... Problem after problem and it hasn't even been two months. I have purchased 2 vehicles from Haltermans and have my car serviced by them frequently. I will never return to this establishment after the treatment I received yesterday. As I read in previous reviews on this page, the story is much of the same. Brian was beyond rude to me. I dropped my car off on Friday evening for a Saturday morning appointment. I have done this many times in the past. When I arrived Brian was speaking with a women regarding an issue that happened previously in the day. The women had no mask on. I waited for a few minutes before being acknowledged which is completely understandable prior considering they were working through a problem. When they were finished talking the women held her mask to her face asking me if I needed assistance. I told her I was there for a drop off and Brain said he would help me. She then left the building wishing everyone a happy thanksgiving with several added adjectives that made me thankful I did not have my child with me. When I looked at Brain in regards to the women's language he told me the last hour had been rough. I then gave him my car keys and explained I was dropping off for an oil change. He told me he had to pull the car into the garage. This is new to me as I have dropped off for service many times and was able to quickly hand over the keys and leave. As I waited for him to pull in the car I noticed that there were an additional 3 employees not wearing masks and 2 within 6 feet of me. He then brought the car in and I told him that I would like them to check the breaks. He then told me that the car was up on inspection, which I found strange but I was in a hurry because I had my infant son and husband in the car waiting for me to drop off. I then began to attempt to find the papers that I needed for inspection. During this time Brain either handed me the keys back or I picked them up off the seat of the car in my rush. Then Brain brought me back to his area and began to right up a detailed list of everything that he wanted to do to the car. When I explained that I just wanted him to change the oil and check the brakes he become frustrated stating that they are running a great service deal and I am losing out on money. I then left feeling very frustrated. Upon getting home I realized that I had the keys in my pocket. I immediately called the dealership and left a message saying I had the keys. At 730 the next morning Brian began calling me several times in a row to inform me that I had the keys and he had 7 cars waiting to be serviced. My husband was disgusted by the way he spoke to me on the phone and off we went to retrieve my car from the dealership. Upon getting my car I noticed that my inspection was not up until January. I then called the service manager regarding this experience and he said that employees wearing masks have been an ongoing issue because they get hot during the day, but he would speak to them. He said he did not know why that would have happened and he would speak to everyone and that he was sorry. I will say that I will never purchase a car from this place again. I am currently looking for a new car for my household and have been dealing with Ray Price Honda. It has been a dream compared to this place. Never again. read more

I was very disappointed with Haltermans. I traded in my 2011 tundra for a 2017 tundra. Everything they said they would do they didn't. I've spent more than 500.00 within the first week fixing what they said they would. Problem is I purchased the vehicle with the understanding that they were going to correct the issues on the truck. They didn't and I got screwed. when I came to pick the truck up after 4 days "of being worked on" it was more like here you go, we didn't really do anything. Really they should be ashamed for that. I took it to my regular mechanic and his jaw dropped with the lack of anything done. Just plain sad on how they could care less. I bought a used car at Haltermans on February 2017. First off, the car I wanted had a rust spot and some scratches on it, so I was on the fence about whether I should purchase it or not. The manager came out, asked what he had to do for me to buy the car.. I told him I wanted those issues fixed. He said done. The sales person I was dealing with, Gwen, gave me her personal number and told me to text her so I can schedule it. I texted her for a week after the purchase.. no response. I called the dealership a few times, each time I was put on hold for such a lengthy period that I'd end up hanging up. On top of that I was promised free oil changes for my entire finance term.. which was 4 years. The last three times I took my car in, they tried to charge me.. and each time I explain that I was told it was free for the four years... Last week, I sent my fiancé in last time to renew my inspection and get an oil change... the woman, Ms. Finkle, tried charging him AGAIN, and told him I only got a few complimentary oil changes and then we had to pay. She ended up rechecking her system and then supposedly determined that we still had a few complimentary oil changes left..... Great. but EVERY TIME I take my car in, the car leaves with a new issue! Last time I took the car in, literally the day after the oil change, the check engine light came on. This time, we needed new tires to renew the inspection, ended up getting it done with them for convenience... when my car came out, one of the tire sensors on the left rear tire was completely removed... now it beeps every few minutes while driving, stopped, etc. Pretty annoying. I was considering trading my vehicle in to get a new one.. but I'll be taking my business elsewhere. There is NO WAY I'll be going back to haltermans, not for future "complimentary" oil changes, tires, nor to fix the issue with the tire sensor which THEY caused. STEER CLEAR OF HALTERMANS... Unacceptable terrible service. Never do business with Halterman's. One week ago, it did not check the nail on the tire even though I have tire air pressure problem. This week when I revisited for the same problem, it did not keep the promise to replace the tire in time until the end of business hour of all the tire supplier even though I asked to do so because I have to drive to Manhattan. I had to drive from halterman's to Manhattan with doughnut (spare tire) at night. Servicewomen told visiting and requesting the tire replacement is my choice, not her problem. Yes, my choice and not your problem. Then what is the dealer service for? I bought an SUV at Halterman's. I never visited other auto service station since then. But, now I know how terrible Halterman's service is. Never do business with Halterman's. One of the young lady service rep even rebuked me against my complaint. Went with a female friend to pickup her new G4 Mitsubishi. She had an appointment to pickup the car and the wait was long to sit with the business/finance manager that tries to up sell you everything. Best part was that when she went to leave the tire pressure sensor light was lit on the dash. That means that one or more tires are low on air or flat. I mean you cannot miss it, it's up high and bright yellow. They said "you just have to put air in one of the tires". I said no, you have to do that since it was obvious nobody checked out the car before it being sold. Wow...no class and inconsiderate to say when we were leaving and they were closing. I made a stink about it and I drove her car to the detailing crew at another location since they had an air compressor and their service department was closed. I mean they had no keys to a part of their business to access an air hose? Really?! The detail guy Kevin (big thank you to Kevin for helping us and doing somebody else's job!) and I remove the hubcaps and air upped all four tire to the manufacturer specifications listed. We had to add air to all four tire since they were ALL different air pressure readings and the passenger front was very low. Really ridiculous and if I was not there they would have sent her on her 1 hour trip back home on a flat tire. Do business with someone responsible. They told me I needed a new gasket and all of a sudden when I parked my car back in my garage I started seeing oil leaking. I will never go to this dealership again for anything. Went online to schedule an appointment and it said my truck (verified by VIN number) was due for it's 20,000 mile service and was covered by Toyota Care. I then called Halterman's Service to confirm this and was told they would do the recall and the 20,000 mile service and there would be NO COST since I was covered by Toyota Care. I made an appointment and dropped off my truck early one morning. I was soon contacted by them to let me know that my truck was actually no longer covered under Toyota Care. Move along to Saturday we decided to stop in again and met with ray and Camilo. Camilo had introduced himself Thursday night as well. We went over numbers, went over my husbands SUV for trade in. Nearing my daughters nap we told ray and Camilo we would be back later on. Camilo called me a hour later and said he could increase the trade in value, so we decided to go back around 3pm to close the deal. We went back and another manager nick came to explain the finance etc. I was puzzled because the nr wasn't what was agreed and when I asked maybe he didn't hear and I figured it was probably the old sheet. Fast forward to 5ish pm nick comes back explaining the rates etc and I said again that isn't the rate we agreed on. He said he couldn't do it that's why he had come over and that's when my husband and myself got up. We explained that isn't the deal and my husband said this is a scam and reason for why car sales have bad reps. He said this is void and ripped up the paper and nick commanded him saying hey hey sit down sit down now while he was getting my daughter ready to leave. The tone and way he spoke to my husband was like him speaking to a child and at this time my husband looked at him and said who do you think you are to tell me to sit, we wasted two hours here and this is a scam and rightfully cursed at him, especially since this is our 3rd time here and we had our daughter with us (anyone with a child knows they have attention spans of 10 mins) who the staff helped entertain her. We left and another manager Junior talked to us apologizing, he was very professional and pleasant. We explained our part and I even said this wasn't what was told to us and we wouldn't have wasted our time especially since there was another similar deal at another dealership. Nick even had the nerves to say Camilo shouldn't have agreed he's been here what 5 days. That itself is so unprofessional as well as Thursday night when we were leaving speaking to karrie he lit up a cigarette right while our daughter was next to us talking. After letting that incident calm down, we called Camilo and he was apologetic, we returned to the Mitsubishi side to meet ray and finish the deal. I have to say Ray and Camilo were both very professional and understanding, they worked with us and worked with what we needed with no sense of pressure or pushing us. Other staff members we encountered were very friendly as well. Would I return? Yes I would but I wouldn't deal with nick based on his gruffness and not having the ability to stick to words. It isn't even the fact of the amount but rather on principles. Camilo called saying the trade was higher, thus why we went back. To be quite honest I'm not even sure why nick butted in our sale to begin with. There are many managers there and I think that is confusing itself. The gm Anthony was very nice as we were at the Mitsubishi showroom he was there too and I explained what had transpired. It's a family run business and I hope it continues to succeed especially being here local we wanted to buy from a local dealer, had it not been for karrie who showed us every detail of the suv (im sorry we didn't get to see u on the weekend), the professionalism of ray and Camilo, I am sure we would have gone elsewhere based on what happened with nick. I have also spoken to their chief of staff Chuck who was understanding and professional. Also met Lisa from the boutique store in the Mitsubishi section, who was very friendly and sweet when I went back to use the halterman cash.
