These people are consistently lazy and rude. I can't believe I've come back repeatedly. It's convenient and I thought that it would be a safe place to take my cleaning, but the Customer service is the worst. Once, I waited for like 10 minutes for someone to come to the front counter. All the while, someone in the front sewed away, not even acknowledging me. Tonight, I was 5 minutes late, they were still in the store, and I said that I was leaving on a trip, the next day. One star based on the bad customer service and price. I walked in and a loud bell sounded. I stood there for a minute with no one acknowledging me. There was an older Asian woman on the left of me working on a garment and in the back were about three (3) people who just looked at me and then got back to what they were doing. I stood there another minute in silence until I said to the woman, "Excuse me, can someone help me?" She walks over to the register looks to the back and says, "very busy." Then she walks back to what she was doing! I stand there another minute typing my "Tip" and finally someone comes to the register. I had accidentally washed my blazer for work and I just needed it steamed. She told me it would be $5 something. I asked her how much it would be if I wanted to dry clean it. She said $8 something. So it's $5 something to just steam it? She said yes. I said never mind and walked out. Won't be coming back. read more

We've gotten quite a few pieces dry-cleaned at Halvorson's over the past few months -- both the typical items (my husand's dress shirts) and a few more "special" pieces (like my husband's suit and a few of my sweaters/dresses) -- and were super happy with how everything turned out. I also appreciate the little touches--how they "wrap" (is that the right terminology?) each piece, especially the suit -- it's not just all on one hanger--but on the more "heavy duty" hangers that don't feel like they're going to break because of the weight. As a disclaimer, we know the folks that own it (there's a video of them here on Yelp!) but if anything, that makes me want to give them the full 5 stars even more--they're really nice people and care about doing well in their business. I also know for a fact that Mrs. Lee is really skilled with alterations and tailoring and would trust her with anything. If we lived nearby, it would definitely be our go-to place for dry cleaning. read more

We have been looking for a quality cleaner to take some of my wife's grandmothers heirlooms, some of which are over 100 years old and we found that at Halvorson's. They shrink everything! I have had so many things ruined. I kept going back because I have their stamp card which offer discounts. They are so expensive that the discount simply makes the prices reasonable. I'm pretty sure they don't dry clean anything they just normal wash and dry like you would at your own home or laundromat despite what is best for your clothes. I'm done with this place. read more

I wore a new dress one time, bent over reaching for my dog, and ripped a shoulder seam clean across. I took the dress into Halvorson's, lying it out on the counter to show the damage. When I came back to pick up the dress, they brought me the dress bunched up, off a hanger, and told me that there were rips all over so they hadn't tried to fix it. I'd inspected the dress before taking it in, and again at the counter-- I don't know what to tell you, there wasn't a gigantic, gaping seam at the bust. It was very obvious because there's black lining underneath. I know how I did damage to the shoulder-- I reached and there was a rip. Nothing happened that would cause a rip in the bust. The annoyed woman working the register told me to come in back so she could show me the security footage of her trying to go after me the day I dropped off, supposedly to tell me that the dress had more damage. I watched the footage, and it did show her stepping out the front after I left, but I couldn't see the dress, couldn't see what had happened to it. If she discovered extra damage after I left, why not call me? Why let it sit there for the rest of the week until I came in? It just doesn't make sense to me. I really don't know what happened here, but at the very least can't fathom why, if they found unseen rips, they didn't call me to discuss, but instead just left my dress wadded up on a counter until I showed up to ask for it. In the past, my silk blouses often got destroyed due to cheap chemical in other cleaners. But never here. My wife and had been going there for about 5 years and They were ok... but recently I noticed that they had ruined several of my suites by pressing them incorrectly (probably too high of temperature). Also, my wife's sweaters were coming back with random holes in them that were not there before. I have to echo the other reviewer. This is an old school cleaner that cares about taking care of their clients. It is in the details. Example, getting your suit coat back on a hanger with a plastic insert the keep the shoulders from peaking. Finishing the collars of your shirts...taking care not to break buttons.
