Best to avoid if you like your clothes and choose another place. All cleaners are legally required to exercise care of customers property. This cleaners has burned me twice - so shame on me I guess! I hope no one else experiences issues so I'm putting this on blast. - they took it upon themselves to UNSTITCH the blind hem on the sleeves of my vintage blazer (was permanent rolled up sleeves and now it's ruined and long sleeved) - my husbands favorite dress shirt (which is old btw) came back with the collar RIPPED across the entire crease where the neck is and they didn't say anything about it when he picked it up. Just discovered yesterday when he pulled it out to wear. Not sure if they use abrasive chemicals or what but why didn't they just launder it?? Seriously worst dry cleaners ever and not even worth my time to address this directly to them bc what would they even do for us? Already damaged two items!!! PS - my degree is in textiles and I know for a fact they do not understand fabrication limitations and use cheap methods. read more

I have been a customer of this cleaners for some time now and I took in my dress that I was set to wear for both my maternity shoot and baby shower. I would like to add that I do not buy expensive clothes often. And when I do, it's always for something super special - in this case, my first child. I took it in for a normal cleaning and the tag said dry clean recommended. I dropped it off on Saturday and picked it up Wednesday with the maternity shoot on that Sunday. The dress' fabric was completely different. It was pulling and the once fine knit jersey looked completely cheap and fuzzy. They said they would try and fix it and that I should call back the next day. I went home completely emotional and balling my eyes out. I had gone on an extensive search for this dress and I'm 8 months pregnant. The stress was palpable. I called the next day and they said they couldn't fix it and that they really couldn't do anything. He offered either a $75 dollar cleaning credit or a check. Since I would never go back the check seemed like the best solution. Mind you, the $75 bucks only covered a fraction of the cost of the dress. So by Thursday I was out out over $200 bucks and a dress for my maternity shoot. I picked up the dress after work and he said that if I wanted the check they would have to keep the dress What really gets me is that there was no actual attempt to make the customer happy here. Not only was my dress ruined, they denied any responsibility and said it was the fabric. Made no attempt to rectify the customer dissatisfaction and really had no empathy to the situation. What I would have expected was a check, an apology and my dress back. More of a, how can we make this right. I understand that they are running a business but please note that I spend more than $75 bucks there in a year. So now, they are out even more money because they lost a loyal customer. I have contacted the dress's manufacturer and they, who did not even sell the dress directly to me, have been going above and beyond by trying to help me in this situation. Now that's good business and they have gained a loyal customer who will continue to spread goodness towards the Rachel Pally line. They also said that that fabric isn't supposed to act that way and that they haven't really gotten any other complaints but that they will be looking into it. This is a family-operated (and perhaps likely owned) business, the kind I strive to support. Look, I get it: you don't want to force it. If the chain store is better than the ma-and-pa joint, OK. Shop at the chain store. But here in Northeast L.A., we're a neighborhood of immigrants in a city of immigrants in a country of immigrants. The family running The Cleaners Mt. Washington was here before me. There's a decent chance they'll be here after me. I don't want to ruin it for them. I gave them a chance. You should give them a chance too. They're friendly. Their prices are fair, and they'll give you a discount if you pay up front. If they tell you the garment might be done on a Monday or Tuesday, count on it being done Tuesday. Maybe Wednesday. But it's OK because that stain will be gone and they won't give you a hard time about ... anything. I've already thrown everything but the kitchen sink at them -- a comforter, a duvet cover, a pair of slacks -- and each item has come back looking and smelling as good as new. I was told I can pick up my dresses at 10am and I said I will be there between 11am or 12pm so I can give them some time. I get there @noon and the guy just look at me and said your dress is not ready we had a problem with 1 of our machines we will have it ready for you by 3:30pm we close at 5pm.... I understand that a problem could happen with their machines. What I don't like it's that the least they can do is a courtesy call & let us know ahead of time. I don't live close & yes I was mad but I just said ok. I return for my dresses n now he's like oh we were unable to fix the button on the dress as you requested, it's so complicate to get that type of pearl button. When I ask for their service I did ask him if he think that would be possible to fix it , the answer was yes np that button is so common, we will have it ready for you. read more

It's a rare day in the neighborhood when I can be bothered to iron a shirt, let alone have one properly cleaned and pressed. But when you live with a man who worked in retail clothing management for years and notices if a sock is folded incorrectly, you learn a little. Now I still don't know enough to know if most dry cleaners offer service so friendly I consistenly leave with a smile on my face. I don't know if most places consistenly have items ready 48 hours later, whether the items are there for cleaning, repair, or alteration. And I don't know if most places do all this at a fair price. Finally found myself a reasonably priced, friendly, and good dry cleaner on the east side. It's just a short drive from DTLA which I am more than willing to do to save 50% on my dry cleaning bill. They cleaned some old coffee stains from one of my shirts and have done an excellent job on my shirts, pants, and jackets. The services are reasonably priced and best of all, you get a discount if you pay in advance. That's what I'm talking about. read more

This place is good! I would like to give it more stars, but the pricing is pretty expensive because I had 5 dress shirts that I needed to dry clean and it cost $10 + tax! It's pretty much $2 each shirt. A tip, just pay when you drop it off, they give you a "discount" which is only a $1 off... Better than nothing. I would recommend it to those who live near by if they need a dry cleaners this is the place! Nice people too! I told them it was my 1st time and they gave me some info on what they do. read more

This place is awesome! I took my WeSC raw denim in to get them tapered because they were way too baggy. I left them a pair of my crates as an example of how much I wanted my jeans to be tapered. Couldn't do a Simple jean alteration. One leg longer than the other. The guy explains that the shorter pant leg was caught on my knee. He then measures and starts pulling the pant legs so they look like they are the same length. Pretty disappointing. First time here. Last time here. Too bad I paid in advance. read more

I am really disappointed with my experience at Mt. Washington Cleaners. I needed a place nearby to have a bridesmaid's dress taken in, and have spaghetti straps added that the bride provided. I found this place on Yelp and opted for it because of all of the rave reviews and 5 star ratings. Maybe they are great for dry cleaning, but I would not ever go here again for alterations. When I took the dress in, the woman working was alone so it took a while to get all of the fitting done, because she had to stop every time someone came in to pick up their clothes. I didn't mind this at the time, since I've worked for small businesses and have been in her situation. However, when she was done, I was told the tailor was not there and they would have to call me with the price. Since all of the reviews said this place had reasonable prices and since I needed the dress tailored one way or another, I agreed. About 2 hours later I got a call to let me know the price. I agreed, though it was more expensive than I was expecting. They said that because of the fabric and beading on the dress, it was going to be that much. I later found out that this price was at least 150% what other bridesmaids paid to get their same dress altered. Regardless of price, I decided it was okay as long as the job was done well. I got the dress back, took it home and tried it on. While the length and width seem to be fine, the straps (the easiest part) are way way too long and I will now have to fix them myself (since I spent so much money on the dress already). On top of that, I asked on the phone and in the store (two different people) that they please save the extra fabric, since one of the bridesmaids is pregnant and will need additional space. They assured me they could do that, but ultimately disregarded this request. read more

I found this establishment when looking for a place to have a bridesmaid dress hemmed and taken in . It was my first time altering any clothing, as a matter of fact, it was my first time wearing a fancy gown, so I wasn't really sure what to expect in regards to pricing, or even what was in the realm of possibility in regards to alterations. The dress has a built-in corset, so I wasn't sure how much of it could be taken in. The young woman helping me with measurements was very gentle, knowledgeable and a total sweetheart, I left confident that my dress would look great. When it came time to pick it up, the dress fit like a glove! Some of the lace on the back was a little loose due to the fact that the waist was now significantly smaller, they paid attention to my comments, and made the necessary alterations. I came back the following day and the dress was now perfect. When the wedding day came, not only did I realize I had paid less than every single bridesmaid who had their dress altered, but I also had the best fitting one!! I have since been back to have a coat dry cleaned. It's a vintage Pendleton with a faux fur collar which my boyfriend wore while smoking a cigar. I stopped by on a Sunday to have the smoke smell removed, unfortunately I didn't pay attention to their hours, and when I went to open the door, I found it locked and realized they aren't open on Sundays. To my surprise, someone was inside and let me in. They informed me that they aren't open on Sundays but that they would gladly take the coat off of my hands and have it ready in three days' time. The coat is now good as new, and the young woman who had helped me with my dress months prior, remembered me when I came in to pick up the coat. I don't usually write such long reviews, but I'm so happy with their work, and most of all their great customer service that I had to let the world know!! read more
