It's very rare these days to find a business that cares about their customers and providing a community service at an extremely elevated level like Magic. My first visit to repair a zipper on a beloved jacket. They fixed it better than I had expected, charged me an unbelievably fair, dare I say down right low, price and gave me a gift card to boot. 10/10 as usual. Rare for a business to feel so personal these days like remember remembering your name when you walk in. I think one of the best places about this dry cleaning service is the communication. They always call and confirm things if there's anything that's questionable. They are also very generous with the discounts, especially when I have a big order. I've never had a single item negatively affected, and they're really good at getting out stains. As I mentioned before the prices are not cheap, but I wouldn't go anywhere else. You get the service and the quality associated. read more

This place is great. They're so friendly, professional and fantastic at what they do. I had a vintage Pucci dress from the 60s that had a oil stain on it that I had taken to multiple other cleaners to try and get removed. Went their to find out how much it would cost to get some fire related items cleaned like curtains, jackets etc. First comment was, we charge $10 extra for anything fire impacted... and that was before the level of impact was detected or discussed. Secondly, the gentleman quoted $90 per curtain (6 x $90 = $540) and said he can not give me an estimate for all my other stuff and I should go to the website to figure that out myself. No empathy, just business. Not even trying to get my business. I went to a different dry cleaner... $15 per curtain and no extra fire impact charge. Just wow! read more

I've been here a couple of times, I've brought them suits, a silk robe, and a cashmere cardigan to name a few. I got back my silk robe in the best condition I ever had it in, so nice! beautiful, better than when I got it in the mail from ordering online with creases and all. They do good work, they're organized, professional. Very pleasant to deal with. I have nothing bad to say, no complaints! Very happy with this place. They seem to be super busy ever since the fires in Altadena, like bins and bags overflowing to the front area; so business must be going well. I'm always surprised with the price but I think it's comparable to other places. I'm probably not used to/not that familiar with dry cleaning prices. I used a discount the first time when I said I found them on Yelp. And once, one of the workers gave me a discount - that was really nice, took the sting away from paying for something that feels like an extravagance to do, but really it's taking care of your stuff, investing in keeping your clothes in good condition. I brought them puffer jackets with very specific care instructions on the tag. I've ruined a different puffer jacket before and tricks on how to fix it at home didn't work. So I brought these to Magic Cleaners to ensure these puffer jackets don't get ruined. After the worker checked the tags, we verified it's not for dry cleaning but for professional laundering. Got them back clean, fluffy, and puffy. Like that they also accept clothes hangers for recycling/reusing! read more

Terrible experience. I needed to have a beautiful silk kaftan hemmed for an event. I was not happy with the negotiated price, $90, but the location was very convenient for me. I felt extremely uncomfortable with the way the owner was highballing me as a tactic to make it seem like he was giving me a good price. When I went in to pick up my dress the day of the event, I tried it on and it was still too long to walk in without tripping. I had to rush to find another dress before my evening engagement. The seamstress came in to make adjustments, and was really nice, but when I picked the dress up for a second time, there was a snag on the front of the dress which was not there before (it had never been worn). It looked like it had either been ironed and almost burned through, or caught on something. I will likely only be able to wear the dress once before the snag becomes a hole. An honest business would have offered to replace the damaged item. Instead, I was charged $75, despite the very visible damage. I will be taking my business elsewhere, as I called around and discovered that Magic Cleaners rates are significantly higher than other places in town (2-3x). read more

My new sweater that I have in two different colors that I took to be cleaned at the same time, one came back a hole in the sweater and the business owner/manager stated that it was a moth hole however, none of my other clothes have holes. Additionally, when I went back to pick up my sweater and get a refund I noticed the guy putting a pin with what looked like had teeth to mark a coat, is how I believe my sweater got punctured, but rather than in good faith cop to it, the owner/manager got loud, insistent and rude. He gave me a refund for services, but now I have a hole in $99 sweater that had no hole when I purchased it. When we did speak to try to resolve it he waffled on making me whole and satisfied. In the end he back tracked when I called him out for not even acknowledging that maybe something did accidentally puncture my sweater. I don't recommend this place at all, the men that work there in my experience are angry for no reason, pert and rude. read more

I just picked up three heirloom cashmere sweaters and noticed they heat sealed barcodes into each one!! You MUST ask permission before altering property--adding a heat sealed barcode to my clothing without saying anything is completely unacceptable. If it's part of your tracking system, you need to clearly and explicitly get permission from the customer beforehand. Offering to remove them after the fact is not ok. read more

I was greeted by a very stunning gentleman by the name of Ari who said it was possible but pickup would be by 5 p.m. I needed the dress by 3 p.m. to allow for travel time. I just went to Magic Cleaners to get a pair of pants hemmed and a shirt shortened. The man that came to the counter looked at the 2 folded items and informed me that I had to wash the clothes before they could work on them. I had just laundered the items the day before and had ironed the pants about a half hour earlier. I told him that and he then said the clothes were covered in dog hair. They weren't. I live with a dog and I know how that can happen but this was not the case. After washing them, I had hung them in the bathroom. I looked at both items carefully. No dog hair. He suggested I take them home & put them in the dryer for a few minutes to remove the imaginary dog hair. He couldn't possibly offend the seamstress by giving them these awful clothes. This was truly one of the weirdest experiences I've had at a business. It felt like I was being pranked. I have no idea what was happening in this guy's life that would make him behave so badly. He didn't want to help me. That was clear. Why he found it necessary to be so rude, insulting and delusional is anyone's guess. I will never be back.
