There are more casual 'dining' options available around the gaming floor. A Tim Horton's sits right near the entrance and a small snack bar sits in the back. Prices are higher than you'd find in stand alone 'food court' type places, but not outrageously so. In fact the $8 cheese burger is about what you can expect to pay in several pubs and restaurants nearby. I've never really understood the 'vibe' of a slot parlor as compared to a full blown casino. Slots places always felt a little sad to me. The pile of retirement village vans outside only fuels that feeling of quiet desperation they seem to foster. If only my penny bet can pull down that $4m progressive jackpot.... if only. A full casino on the other had has that vibe of high risk and high reward that comes with watching people bet $50 - $100 on a single card turn at blackjack. I asked why and was told it is for contact tracing of COVID and that "all the casinos must do this" Since Jan 2022, I have been to five other gaming places in WNY. None of them did this. So you could be on slot machines that are only paying back at 0, 10, or 20% at the time your playing them because the payout percentage is based on the entire location not the separate machine or machines you are playing so you are at a total disadvantage gambling there. I would not recommend to anyone to gamble there very often because you will more than likely lose your money and if you are one of the very few that does win a jackpot take it and run and don't come back for a long while because you will give your winnings back to them. Went to Hamburg Gaming last weekend and the first thing I noticed was that their were tons of new machine & an increased number of machines. The second thing I noticed was that the layout was different than before, they used to have rows of machines. Now it seemed like they had them going every which way and you could tell that this was to increase the number of machines. Only problem was that it made it hard to walk around without bumping into a person or a machine and if it was hard for me I can't even imagine how it must be for the older clientele, the usual demographic the frequents the casino. It has to be difficult for those who have trouble walking, those using canes, walkers, or scooters to assist them in getting around. Another thing I noticed is that they machines are tough, at most gaming facilities I usually can play the money I intend on losing for a few hours, not here. What I do like about Hamburg Gaming though is the little Tim Horton's kiosk and the fact that smoking is not allowed, I really enjoy the fresh air.
