Came here on good Friday for a fish fry and was lucky enough to snag some bar seats. It was very busy so our fish took a while but nearly every single person was ordering fish so we expected it. Met friends for dinner on a Friday night. Had one thing on our minds (except beers and cider). Well except for a couple of us... 5 beer battered Haddock fish fries were delicious. Thickest portion of fish I have possibly ever had. Some got fries, some baked potato. OK, so we shared. Gluten Free West End Burger was a hit too X 2... and I saw a bad a$$ bowl of mac and cheese across the table too. We came to the newly remodeled/reopened restaurant in July 2025. It is my understanding they were closed for quite a while. I'd only been once before and just for drinks. First the service was great! Lauren was very attentive and funny. The new space looks nice! The food was just ok. They were out of most beer and wine (not a big deal since they just opened). My husband ordered a burger and asked for it medium but it was well done. I got the mafia chicken sandwich. It was just ok. I asked to have it hot instead of mild but there was still no spice at all. I went with friends to a murder mystery dinner event. We had to wait 20 minutes standing at the buffet line because they ran out of chicken. When it finally came out, it was undercooked. The roast beef was very red and bloody. The salad only had a few tomatoes and onions in it. The menu said there would be decadent desserts which turned out to be a tray of cookies and pastry hearts cut up into small pieces drizzled with chocolate. They were soggy and awful tasting. Because we waited in the buffet line so long the cookies were all gone. People are greedy and take more than their share! My two friends ended up sick in the bathroom at 1 am. I hardly ate anything so I was ok. My biggest issue was we each paid $71.14!! That was way too much for the half cooked meal and the entertainment was so so! Following the Tom & Jerry Trail, I came in for dinner and a drink. Dining by myself, I didn't want to take up a whole table but was invited to sit at the bar, if I could secure a seat. I walked around the bar, peeked in the banquet area, and got a seat for a lone high-top over by the popcorn machine. I placed my order at the bar and it came quickly. While I asked for no BBQ sauce on my brisket sandwich, I still wanted cheese. The brisket was rich, and the cheese would have held it all together. The fries were crispy and tasty with a side of mayo. The Tom & Jerry was creamy and delicious. I thought the mug was cute and classic with the gilded rim. I'd come back here in a heartbeat. We had a dinner party of 8, which included 3 children (under the age of 3). We went for Friday Fish Fries, during Lenten season. We were prepared for a wait because there are no reservations on Friday, during Lent. However, we got there at around 4:15pm. and we were seated immediately. The service was exceptional- the waitress and hostess were very attentive, making sure we had drinks, and took our order in a timely fashion. Four of our party also follow a Gluten free diet. The menu is very well marked for this option, and the waitress was very well versed regarding this. They utilize a dedicated gluten free fryer- so we were able to get the fish fries, including French fries and even had a gf macaroni salad available! All the food was well prepared and. delicious. They also had a GF dessert, but we didn't get it because we were stuffed from the generous portions. The only problem we had was that we had ordered regular macaroni and cheese for 2 of the children- this took longer to come to our table, than the fish fries. They were extremely apologetic and kept keeping us updated, and we were able to keep the children occupied, until their food arrived. We have come to the West End for several years and have always been very pleased with our meals and being able to get Gluten Free meals and feeling confident that the kitchen staff is being very careful, is a definite plus!! We used to love coming here top notch food. Unfortunately new management does not have the same level of quality of food as the previous owners. I ordered broiled Cajun fish and it wasn't cooked asked to have it cooked more and it literally came back on a new plate with new baked potato and fish was still not cooked, it was now cold. We have given the new owners 3 tries and they failed each time. I would highly recommend to stay away from this restaurant until they get it together. We selected this restaurant because of the gluten free options. We had a reservation for a party of 9 on a Sunday night to celebrate seeveral birthdays. It was trivia night and the bar was busy but there was only 1 other table being used in the restaurant area when we were seated. They only had one employee serving as hostess and waitress for both the bar and restaurant. Our table was not ready when we arrived. When we were seated, there was no silverware, and there were only 3 menus and one specialty menu for 9 people. Needless to say - we asked for more when she finally got around to us. It took probably 20 minutes to get our drinks. My grandson asked 3 times for a glass of water and never received it. They only have 2 seafood items to choose from and they were out of both. It was over an hour and a half before we got our food and it was cold when we got it. Very dissappointing and will not be going back. read more

We were seated in a nice cozy room for dinner and ordered French Onion soup which was good. Ordered the beef on weck per recommendation of our enthusiastic and helpful waitress. She didn't steer us wrong. It was delicious. My partner ordered the brisket sandwich which was thick cuts of meat. We didn't eat a lot of it in restaurant, but made some awesome brisket nachos for leftovers at home with wonderful smoked pepper jack cheese that they sell bricks of! The building is very interesting. There was a banquet wrapping up, a band playing the bar area with a good crowd, and the dining room was comfortably busy/winding down around 8. It was nice we could hear the live music without it being too loud. We ordered the French onion soup, shrimp alfredo, and Nashville hot chicken. Everything was cooked well but tasted very bland. The French onion soup was good, but sadly it was as if it had been watered down over and over. The chicken was not spicy at all, and came with nothing on the sandwich. The Alfredo was cooked properly but had no seasoning. We pretty much packed the entrees up to go, and brought them home to make edible. Exactly 1 year ago I gave this place a 5 star review. What a difference a year makes. We went for half way to St. Patrick's day which is the same we did last year. Last year they had fresh corned beef and cabbage with all the trimmings. This year overcooked salty rubber sandwich meat. First our waitress forgot my French onion soup and our food was out in less than 10 minutes, I can see why. It was awful. They didn't even put enough meat on it to have the audacity to charge 15 dollars. Our waitress did offer me a free dessert which I gave to my wife. When we left I asked to speak to a manager and she wasn't to be found, it's a shame we really like this place. read more

We've visited twice in the last few months. Both times had good service and food. We went this past Friday, of course you have to wait on Fridays during Lent. We had a 30 minute wait at the bar, and the drink prices were reasonable. $6 pints of Southern Tier and Blue Moon. I assume those were Happy Hour prices. My wife had the broiled fish special and it was very tasty and flavorful. I had the normal fish fry, but what I liked best was that they offered lazy pierogi as an option for a side. I'm sold on that an the lazy pierogi was great. The fish was beer battered haddock, and it was quite good. I found the batter to be a little thick for my liking, but overall it was a good fish fry. I usually like a light batter. The service was very efficient considering how busy it was. Overall great atmosphere, food, and reasonably priced. We'll be back. read more

The Nashville chicken was burnt, the fish used for the fish fry had a bad taste and texture, and I could not even swallow the macaroni salad, it tasted like paste and vinegar. This review is based on their Easter Brunch that I had the opportunity to enjoy this past Sunday . For $30 , I got my choice of beverage (alcoholic beverages sold separately) and to help myself to a selection of breakfast and lunch entrees at the buffet. Wasn't a huge spread, but what was offered was well made and tasted fresh/hot . My favorite items on the menu was their Mac and cheese, (so creamy ) fresh green beans , and the rolls . I was surprised at their selection of desserts too , and was sure to leave room for them. The New York Style Cheesecake was so good, that I paid for a slice to take to my aunt, who was unable to join us that afternoon. The service was pretty good and there was even an appearance by the Easter Bunny . If I decide to not cook next Easter , I would definitely consider doing Brunch there again . read more

We returned here last week following the pandemic. We were curious about the renovations we observed during the shutdown. The restaurant had been refreshed but not changed a great deal. Love this place and go at least once a month. The food is simple, yet good. The bar is like that friendly neighborhood bar. They will remember you and treat you like a regular. They often have live music and the crowd is happy and friendly. They also have rooms to rent upstairs which look nice on the website, and when we have guests visit, we plan to use them. read more

The live music was the primary reason we went to the West End, and he was exceptional. Unfortunately the bar service was slow and completely lacking in class. At 11:30, the bartender announced all were to "GET OUT" and immediately proceeded to flicker the lights. There had been no indication closing time was 11pm until the moment the crowd was rudely kicked out while the owners sat at the bar continuing to enjoy their drinks. Had we known the bar closed earlier than most and stayed open only for the owners or special guests, we would have gladly left earlier. We don't go out often, but we will certainly think twice before being insulted at the West End again. read more

So we had the strangest experience at the West End tonight and have never been asked this question before...we ordered drinks and water. The waitress actually asked us if we were really going to drink the water because if we weren't she really doesn't want to bring us any....I'm sorry...what? After we said yes, she was very "cool" towards us the rest of our time there. And when she brought us our water...they were in the tiniest of glasses...maybe four ounce glasses? Absolutely ridiculous...like a punishment for saying yes we want water. She ended up having to refill them three and four times. Absolutely the most odd and ridiculous restaurant experience we have ever had. This was our second time at the new West End...first was great...this time bad. Not sure there will be a third. read more
