Have been here a few times before and have never been disappointed. They have two location, one in Newark and the second one here in Kearny. I saw some complaints about service here but our experience was just fine. Quick and extra helpful. I had the cheeseburger and an order of fries. To drink I had an orange smoothie mixed with condensed milk. The cheeseburger was very good, it had mayo, corn, mozzarella cheese, lettuce and tomato. The fries were very good as well, huge portion. The drink was good but the only complaint I have was that it was a bit warm. Other than that it was good. The place is aging a little but the food is very good. We sat down to take a moment to decide what we wanted, and the woman attending to us immediately came across as rude and unwelcoming. Unfortunately, the experience didn't improve when we placed our order--the staff member at the front was equally dismissive and unpleasant. Good food can only go so far when the hospitality is lacking. The attitude we experienced made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, which is especially disappointing in the food-service industry. I went here for the first time and let me say, the food was amazing. I never had Brazilian style burgers before and I'm truly glad I went here first. The service was also good and very polite, despite all the other reviews. The price was also really good for the size of portions you get as well as the lunch specials and student discounts they offer help a lot. Overall 10/10, would definitely recommend. read more

I'm gonna go ahead and update my review to 4 stars. I came in the other day with a friend and actually got a burger and some fries. I usually opt for their small snacks but eating in has definitely changed my mind. I went for the California Frango. It was grilled chicken breast, ham, pineapple, cheese and lettuce. It was delicious!! Paired with their signature pink sauce, can't go wrong. I really enjoy that their chicken burgers are grilled chicken breast. Makes it that much healthier. They have so many options for burgers too and I'm sure you can customize your own if you wanted to. The fries! I used to come here on lunch break in high school and get a large fries with friends. They taste the same, super crispy and delicious. Probably some of the best fries I've had. I'll definitely be ordering from here more often. The staff is really friendly as well! read more

I had an issue tonight with one of the "managers" when I picked up they did not give me my complete order and i when I called she blamed me saying I changed to another register so that's what happened. Food was good, I've gone there a bunch of times. What I found to be HORRIBLE was the service, which wasn't much, I took my food from the balcony and went to sit down, I paid with card and total was 50 dollars. Later thinking about the 50 dollars compared to what I actually bought was a LOT! I went back to get a receipt because they didn't hand it to me and I didn't mind getting it, later to find out that I was charged 6 dollars extra of tip that I was never told about (of course she didn't say what the amounts for everything separately was, and as usual, people just sign the receipt). I was told they have to charge when it is above 25 dollars and that they had been doing that since pandemic. I was on my way to Altas Horas last night, but then I saw this place. Turns out it's another Brazilian style burger joint, except it's closer. It's a part of a chain, with 2 other locations in Newark. It is much more spacious than Altas Horas, but they're only open til midnight and they're a little bit more expensive. But the important thing is the food, and I picked up a chicken ball and a cheese tudo. The cheese tudo consists of a burger, ham, fried egg, corn, potato sticks, lettuce, tomato and mayo. The bun here is structurally better than the sweet bread bun they use at Altas Horas, actually the whole sandwich is better put together, it was not falling apart from its massive size. But the sandwich was also pretty dry. Could have used more corn/mayo mix and the egg over easy. The sandwiches from Altas Horas are clearly juicier, I can see the juices from the meats dripping onto my fingers and plate. The chicken ball, I didn't like too much. Wasn't sure what to expect, but it was basically chicken salad minus mayo in a fried ball of dough. Kinda dry. I'd hit this place in a pinch, but i prefer my usual spot, which is open 24 hours anyway. read more

Food is pretty good most of the time, but service is usually lacking. Todays review is due to an unexpected and 'forced' tip added to my bill. I'm usually a good tipper, tipping between 20-25% depending on service. So the issue here isn't the few extra bucks that were added to my bill, but the principle of unexpectedly adding it to my bill. I ate here on 02/25/22 at approximately 8:45PM, with my mother and the bill came up to 37.xx, I signed the bill and went to the tip section and noticed it read "additional tip." Which kind of took me by surprise, then I noticed there was already 4.59 added as tip. If I tipped my usual and left an additional 20%, I would have left a total of $12 tip. The point here is this. 1. Either the business owner is being a con artist and paying his employees with forced tips. Or fattening his pockets by forcing customers to unexpectedly double tip. Or. 2. The server(s) have gotten into the habit of forcing these tips, and taking advantage of the unexpecting customer to leave an additional tip. read more

We've been going to the kearny location for years but it has slowly gone downhill over the last 2-3 years and today was just the last straw. We ordered 2 burgers, 1 fry, 2 coke cans and a smoothie to stay and an açaí bowl to go. It took 25 minutes to get the burgers and they were both wrong, sent them back and waited 7 more minutes they came back out wrong again. So I said I'll pay for the fries and drinks and açaí bowl ($25.60) for essentially 3 drinks and fries. Wth really over 25 for this. Huge rip-off and totally not worth it. This Kearny location is nowhere near the level of the Ironbound location in terms of customer service. I was told on the phone that my order would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrive there in about 20 minutes and was made to wait an additional 40 or so minutes with me just standing there twiddling my thumbs like a toddler. The girl behind the counter, EUGENIA, never smiled even the slightest, and was extremely impolite, rude, ill-mannered, discourteous, and overall just unpleasant. Seriously, if she ever auditioned for the role of an evil villanous antagonist, she would get the part based solely on her seemingly perpetual angry facial expression. The most expensive burger is the Hamburgao Picanha, which is $7.50, which is a STEAL!! Hamburgao Picanha - SIRLOIN STEAK!, Mozzarella, Ham, Bacon, Eggs, Corn, Potato Sticks, Lettuce, Tomatos, and Mayo. This is my go-to burger. The potato sticks add a nice crunchy touch to the burger. And it seems to me that the Brazilian-style of burgers like to have corn in them, which adds a unique, yet good taste to it. And it is not a small burger, so you get the most out of your money here. The Hamburgao beef is similar, as it has just normal steak on it. They have a chicken burger equivalent as well with the same toppings (with chicken breast instead of course), called the Hamburgao Frango. If you do not like one of the toppings, they have many other varieties of burgers which have only certain toppings. In addition, they have "California" styles of these burgers, which has pineapples in it. I don't know what it is about their french fries, but these fries are good and addictive. Make sure you use the mayo-like sauce with them! I always get them with my meal and they do not disappoint. They also serve empanadas, soup salads, and other random assortments (including some desserts). However, I come here mainly for their burgers. If I do get anything else, I'll get the Coxinha Calupiry, which is a deep fried chicken meat shaped into a ball with cheese. The burger was delicious! $7.50 for a hamburgao picanha ("steak burger") with: lettuce, tomato, mayo, corn, potato sticks, a fried egg, and bacon. It was definitely made fresh for my order. The chicken/beef burgers were slightly cheaper. Their pastries were pretty tasted too. I had a brigadeiro (chocolate ball). Sweet, thick, and chocolately. I could not have been more disappointed with hamburgao. Since seeing it on Food Network back in the day, I thought it looked like an interesting take on a classic. Sadly, they did not deliver. The burger is an extremely thin, dry patty with no seasoning at all. There is seriously no flavor. I had higher quality patties in my high school cafeteria than what they're rolling out here. Potato sticks on the burger is welcome, but they are not nearly enough to save this mess. Plus they only add to the dryness. This is a Brazilian sandwich place with other locations in Newark. I had a Hamburgao Beef here, which is a steak sandwich. It is the most expensive sandwich at $6.50. I was surprised by how big it was - it was over 3 inches thick. On a sesame bun, it came with two thin slices of steak, a fried egg, lettuce, tomatoes, a slice of ham, bacon, bits of corn, and potato stix! The sandwich is so big and delicious, it is more than filling enough to be a meal. The potato stix were an interesting addition - they taste just like the kind you find in those potato chip bags and they probably are the same. Hamburgao offers grilled steak/chicken burgers and regular hamburgers, what's special about Brazilian burger is that they add ham/fried egg/corn and potato sticks in them. The ham and egg makes it taste a lot like a Taiwanese breakfast hamburger, and the corn and potato sticks adds flavor and texture to every juicy bite. The buns are lightly toasted, crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. LAST, the additional thousand island style mayo sauce fuses all ingredients together marvelously. Price is very friendly considering the enormous portion, I could barely finish a whole burger with no sides, whereas girls usually cut the burgers in half.
