Stopped in for Lunch on 3/16/19, and left disappointed. The stools are bolted to the floor, and they are placed around 3 long tables. 12 people can fit at each table which means the restaurant can only handle 36 total people at a time. When we arrived there were no seats available and there were already 2 people waiting ahead of us. We waited about 5 minutes and those people walked out. It was about that time that a few people were done eating and left. We had 3 people in our party and there was only a place for 2 people to sit down. The whole time we were there nobody acknowledged us, said hello or gave instruction on what to do. We waited a few more minutes and didn't receive anything but strange stares so we turned around and walked out. Customer service was non existent. read more

I've been going there for 55 years. They have the best chili, and it's still the same recipe from over 50 yrs ago. Everyone loves their homemade cinnamon rolls. Another favorite is their real ice cream shakes, hamburgers are pretty good, too. The diner still looks the same, too. The only thing different is the high prices, used to be able to eat there all the time, but now can only go about twice a year, if it was just for me, I could go more often but it adds up quick if you have family with you. Oh, if you look under your table, there is over 50 yrs of old gum under there because everyone, after their done chewing their gum, sticks it under there, lol! Still love the place tho! read more

If you haven't been to the Hamburger Inn, you should give them a visit. Community seating where everyone sits on little round bar stools and the table/bar is little islands coming out of the cooking area so the wait staff walks in the middle to serve you. My buddy and I stopped into this place while riding our bikes out in the country on the Monday after Independence Day. There were not a lot of places open, and we were happy to find this one. The Hamburger Inn is an old diner with U-shaped counters that the wait staff can walk into and that are surrounded by bar stools. It's old, probably would benefit from a good cleaning and some paint, but was very, very cozy and welcoming. They apparently do breakfast too, provided that it can be made on a flat-top grill or in a deep fryer. This is not a salad kind of place. Ambiance aside, the burgers and fries were really top notch. The staff were all super friendly, and they did everything to make us feel welcome. They were short staffed so the wait was long, but who isn't these days and it was one hour before closing on a holiday Monday. No points off for that in my book. The place was pretty full, and we noticed that the friendliness extended to other customers. There is just something about old timey diners that makes people relax. I had heard of this fantastic place many a time but never visited. Ended up going on a Saturday for dinner and a Sunday for breakfast with out of town guests. The service was friendly and impeccable. The hangover burger with onion rings for dinner and it was excellent, followed by the western scramble for breakfast. However, the highlight were the fresh cinnamon rolls. I lived in Delaware growing up and just recently went back for a visit. I got a bacon cheeseburger, fries, split a milkshake with someone I was dining with then had to take an order of their famous cinnamon rolls to go. The burger was delicious, and I am not even a major burger person. The bun was fresh and soft. The milkshakes are homemade and made with hard dip ice cream which makes them thick and creamy. And if you read any of the reviews, you will hear about the famous cinnamon rolls. Overall you will be able to get a great delicious meal for an extremely affordable price. There is street parking available out front of the establishment and throughout the downtown area then there are a few city lots that you can pay to park at throughout the downtown area as well. First time! Came with family. Read the reviews beforehand and was not disappointed. Started with onion rings which were enough to share with 2-3 others. Asked for ranch and the waitress suggested their horseradish ranch which was delicious! Had a couple beers and had the bacon cheeseburger with fries for my entree. Not the most seasoned burger in the world, but it didn't matter. It was still good. The bun was deliciously homemade fresh and perfectly grilled. The fries were delicious as well. When we went to pay, I pulled out a BOGO coupon we get in the local ads / coupons. Turns out there are 4 to a coupon, so the waitress was kind enough to let us use two of them (and keep two for next time) since we were paying separate checks between the 5 of us. I also mentioned it was our first time there, and to my surprise we were given free cinnamon rolls! They offer the rolls grilled or warmed up. Grilled is the only way. It puts a delicious crispy around the edges on the bottom similar to a pancake cooked in bacon grease. It was the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. It was served with whipped cream, butter, and topped with cinnamon and sugar. The service was fantastic. It was a fun time and I loved how everything in there seems to be original. OMG!!!!!!!! This was our 2nd visit and I got the Tex-Mex Scramble and DAMN what a dish. 3 eggs, cheese, chorizo, potatoes, onions, and tomatoes. When it was placed in front of me it looked too enormous to try and eat. Although it said it came with potatoes, it did not specify what kind. It came with deep fried small pieces of potatoes. Not a fan, they were very crisp and very hard to eat with a fork. I asked if the dish was always served with these type of potatoes and the server said yes, but you can specify what you prefer. I told her I did not care for them and without hesitation she brought me a nice dish of regular fried potatoes. The made the dish for me. Looking at everyone's plate, it all looked soooo good...and large portions!! I chose the Gyro omlette with Feta cheese, onions, and tomatoes. It came with Hash brown potatoes and wheat toast. Yes, it was VERY good!! I do love a good omlette... and this Greek style one was different for me. Something different and GOOD! All in all, its a great little place.... I don't think they have changed anything since it opened.... ok, maybe a fresh coat of paint every now and then. But the counters have to be original... very cool... if only they could talk... I bet they have some stories to tell!!! I can't wait to go back and try a lunch or dinner. Today we stopped by after a visit to OWU. We ordered burgers, a hot dog and a chicken pot pie. We also had an order of cheesesticks and waffle fries. My cheeseburger was good. The waffle fries were yummy. My wife said her pot pie was also good. The owner came by to chat with us and she gave us a free cinnamon bun. When we looked at it, it looked like glob of dough. But it was delicious, gooey and wonderful. It's cheap, pretty quick and tasty for a burger joint. If you want a decent burger or dog or wonderful cinnamon bun, you should drop by. My husband lived in Delaware for most of his life. We were up from Florida visiting family for Christmas and I finally convinced him to bring me into The Hamburger Inn. This place has been a long standing pillar in the community and I was tired of being deprived of its riches. The diner is adorably equipped with time-hopping serpentine counters that you mosey on up to and have a conversation with your neighbors and your waitress. Nostalgia reigns supreme with tokens of The Hamburger Inn's deep roots in the community on all of the walls. The food is simple and fresh and unpretentious. There's just something to be said about the flavor of a grill that's seasoned with years of burgers that came before yours. It's a flavor that can't be duplicated easily and deserves respect for the time it took to create. I ordered a single cheeseburger with all the fixings, waffle fries and a cinnamon roll for dessert. The buns instantly struck us as different. They just didn't look like your typical bun but that's wonderful by our standards. Slightly grilled, the added satisfaction of crunch made the perfectly cooked and seasoned patty that much more top notch. It's very evident the food is fresh and never frozen. The waffle fries were cooked to perfection, with a good layer of crisp giving way to fluffy potato. It was almost a crime to use ketchup. The cinnamon roll....let's all take a moment to reflect Ian the greatness that is the cinnamon roll. By virtue of its own merits, the cinnamon roll can stand on its own. It to is made fresh daily in the back, and even though we were there at lunch when it was a few hours old, it's perfect mix of dough and sweet made it a treat I'll think about until next year. However, things really went up a notch when our waitress Mary asked if we wanted it grilled. If we thought the crunch of the bun was satisfying, we didn't know what we were talking about. The grilling made the inside stickiness melt to a tremendous gooey lava that could only be topped by the accompanying whipped butter. I wish I could have gotten a picture but it didn't last that long. The only other thing sweeter than the roll was the bill- a whopping $22 for two very satisfied and stuffed tummies. If you find yourself lucky enough to meander into the tight knit community that is Delaware, Ohio, make sure you take a moment to stop in and treasure one of downtown's longest standing, nostalgia beaming staples. Ordered items that they were out of and instead of them calling me to advise and ask for a substitution they just omit it but still charged me for it. I had to call to complain and also received no toppings for the two burgers I ordered and was advised I needed to list what I wanted when ordered even though there is not that option on her order system. I am sure service is better at the restaurant but the world is still in a pandemic and online ordering is a common practice so keeping it current should be a priority.
