Look for the red white and green awning to direct you to this fabulous little mom and pop diner reminiscent of an old 1950s high school hangout ! Located in nearby Delaware, Ohio , The place has been around since 1932 , so don't expect potted palms , tufted chairs or flashy decorations ! The inside dining area is clean , but rather small and Seating is on swivel stools facing a U shaped serving counter . Weather permitting , table seating is also available on a small patio situated outside the front entrance . By the way , the food is cooked like , a foot away from you on an open grill , so just imagine the anticipation that the wafting aroma creates for a Really Hungry customer ! There are a couple of go-to items on the menu that are our favorites .....the hangover burger ( with the works )......The hand cut fries ( ask for them crispy ) ....any flavor milkshake , and the maple iced , grilled cinnamon rolls are to die for ! ( and I haven't even mentioned Their addictive chili .... oooops , I just did ! ) Breakfast is available around the clock , with a another couple of favorites : the Reuben omelette or the gyro omelette ( each made with 3 eggs ) Ya know , actually any of the menu items that I've tried here taste really great ! Service is always fast and friendly , with quick refills on beverages ,and the wait staff chatty and funny! Parking can be a problem , as there is no parking. Lot available .... only street parking , which may present a problem at times . In ending , I might add that in my humble opinion This place is a lot better than that big name transplanted burger place that's across the street ! First off, the staff is amazing! Tiffanie is an amazing waitress! The burger and mushroom sandwich are top notch. Hand cut fries are a must! I have grown up going to Hamburger Inn! When I was super young, my mom owned Toujours and we would frequent here for lunch. The cute, 70s style diner vibes and history that still exists here never fails to make me happy. Not only is this place a reminder of spending time with my mom, their food happens to be wonderful as well! Their fresh cinnamon rolls and doughnuts are to die for. We have been a few times and it's a really authentic experience of sitting on stools in a 60s style burger grill. Milkshakes ,burgers, and basics done right. Don't look for a salad with fancy lettuce, it's not gonna happen. We have gone to pick up cinnamon rolls that they make fresh every day and they are amazing! AMAZING! I understand COVID and we left a decent tip for our server, but service was very slow, mostly waiting for the food. Food was average, burgers seemed fresh, but rather bland and pretty greasy. Fries were cooked in advance and scooped into the plate so they were not very hot. Even though it took 30 minutes for our order to Come up (a burger and an order of eggs over) the Swiss cheese was not melted on my burger. There also seemed to be confusion about their patio seating, probably due to the 4th of July parade soon to start outside. Positives = friendly staff who did apologize for the wait. Also, price. was very reasonable. That's not why we gave them a 2. Quality of the food was not awesome. For a place with "hamburger" in the name of the restaurant, maybe they could explore a different beef mix. We finally returned to Hamburger Inn. So looked forward to enjoying breakfast there again. Sadly disappointed. Parties arriving after us received their orders. Ours finally came. My scrambler on obviously sat under warming lamps. But my husband's toast was barely warm bread. His hash browns were pale and soggy. As if they'd forgotten his order and rushed it. Our coffee was nice and strong. But our waitress seemed distracted, even though the diner was half empty. As we waited to pay, I noticed the fry cook eating a sandwich by the grill. Then turning to resume cooking without washing his hands. A little off putting, to say the least. We also ordered cinnamon rolls to take home. Should've checked the box. After our 30 min drive home, our kids opened the box to find sad little cinnamon rolls that weren't properly baked. Swimming in so much icing. Not the huge fluffy rolls we bought in the past. I called and spoke to Josh or Jason the manager. He said good help was hard to find. It's sad. I bake a lot and know sometimes things go wrong. Went here on first Friday in December and it was packed! We were able to get a seat fairly quickly and the service from Miss Karen was excellent. She was very attentive even with all of the other people at tables and/or standing around waiting. The food was very good and came out quickly. I arrived here obviously late because the place was empty. The servers were friendly and polite. I had ordered the bacon blue cheese burger with what I had thought were going to be crispy. I added the bacon cheese fries, a piece of pie and a chocolate shake. My hotel was only a couple of blocks away and I heard a waitress ask if she could leave early so I took the order with me. When I opened it up it was hard to tell what was burger and what was fries. I ordered the half pound version and med rare what I got was two nasty patties so over cooked they crumbled. Unlike the blue cheese because it wasn't on there . It looked like the leftover of someone else's meal. The onions were so greasy it almost made me ill. Don't even get me started on the fries. You can tell the counters have been their since the place opened and the seats aren't the most comfortable but it took me back to my diner days in New Jersey and I liked it. It was packing the day we visited but we managed to get some seats and ordered our food. We should've ordered the burgers (duh! hamburger inn) but went with breakfast instead. Our server was not on her A game that day and got our order mixed up (mine came out before his) and often was someplace else hustling when we needed refills. The cook and the guy who I think may have been a manager were wonderful and we were told all about how they home make everything. We even ran into a friend there - who knew! I like them have gone there often for Cinnamon Rolls for family and/or work. I like the burgers too! Always count your change Before you leave the place, have left with stuffing the folded change in my pocket. This place is like walking into a time capsule of the 50's with it's diner-style counter seating and historical pictures on the wall. Aesthetics aside, you may not find a better burger in Delaware county. Recently had the bacon double cheese with waffle fries. Homemade buns and big juicy patties grilled to perfection. Ok so normally I don't give 5 star reviews but when I do, it's because the restaurant deserves it. My relationship with hambo started in 2019 when I was a second semester freshman at Ohio Wesleyan University, when I had a burger with a fried egg and a milkshake. Since then I have been here for breakfast and dinner multiple times, and the food always tastes the same. I do wish it was open until midnight or later like it, maybe was back then? Either way ,hambo has something special that I can't quite put into words. Either way I am going to miss this place when I graduate and head back home to Michigan. read more

Visiting family for the weekend. Looking for a brunch spot in Delaware. Place really busy, we're able to sit out on the patio, although the space was very tight. Food was pretty tasty. Mimosas on the menu, but no liquor served on Sundays. A little bothered that the waitress did not mention the brunch specials, noticed them on my way out as these were posted on the sidewalk sign. New to the Delaware area and I was craving a burger. After doing a quick search on yelp I landed on The Hamburger Inn Diner after seeing so many good reviews. I placed a phone call to The Hamburger Inn Diner to place a to-go order where I was immediately placed on hold when I told the employee I wanted to place a to-go order. After about 10 mins on hold, I hear the phone go click and I was hung upon. I spend the next 20 mins trying to call back to place my order, but the phone rang busy every time. At this point, I decide to drive to The Hamburger Inn Diner as it was not too far for me. It took me about 10 mins to find a parking spot as it was a very busy Saturday night in downtown Delaware. I finally make it to The Hamburger Inn Diner where the hostess was sitting down folding napkins and barely even looked up to greet me. I walked in at 7:55pm and I told her the phone was ringing busy and I wanted to place a to-go order her only response to me was "I know it says we close at 10, but we are closing early at 8 tonight. Love this bar-top style of diner. The waiting staff can easily walk in between patrons of the restaurant and remain accessible. Came in on a Sunday afternoon. Did not wait longer than 2 minutes before there were some stools open for the 4 of us. You kind of just walk in, wait for an opening, and seat yourself. No hostess. The menu items are extremely affordable and portion sizes are a good size. I ordered the lumber jack, which is kind of a boring choice for myself, but I was feeling like some pancakes. My girlfriend and I also split one of the famous cinnamon rolls. WOW! It is large! I suggest splitting it, unless you are starving to death. It is warmed up and drenched with icing. It tastes just like a fresh, glazed donut. The waiting staff was very friendly, but we did have to wait a little while for utensils (my only criticism). The staff was fairly busy though, no worries. Just visited this place for the first time and had breakfast. All I have to say is OMG this place is amazing. I'm a huge fan of small town diners and this place was perfect. They're known for their cinnamon rolls and they did not disappoint! They're not small but not giant either, but they are tasty. Perfect with coffee. I also got the veggie omelette which was also delicious. There are no tables to sit at. All the seats are stools at a table top/bar, so probably not great for small kids. Great place though!
