First the pros. It has a great diner atmosphere. All seating is at a unique counter that's shaped with U's that allow the servers to walk in between customers. It was crowded with a happy "buzz". Service was friendly. The famous cinnamon rolls are enormous and tasty. Not the best I've ever had, but good. Breakfast is served anytime. Cons. The hamburger was just ok.I ordered medium well but it was medium to med. rare. The homemade hamburger buns were tasty but not special enough that I would have known had they not said so. What a great little friendly diner. Second visit ever. I arrived with my girls on a very brisk late Saturday afternoon. We were able to walk in and seat ourselves away from the door. Barb greeted us, The girls ordered the buckeye milkshake and strawberry milkshake right away. Figured I'd share with them since they are so huge and extra milkshake is provided. Never disappointed. I went with 1/2# bacon cheeseburger. Comes with 2 patties & waffle fries (per request). I rarely eat burgers, so if im ordering a burger they must be awesome! The girls ordered chicken strip/fry basket. I really wish I had taken pics of their food. They were the largest hand dipped tenders I have ever seen. More than enough for them. Very delicious too. Breading was light. They usually pick it off but they actually enjoyed this breading. Everything came out in orderly fashion. Considering customers were constantly coming and going, it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves inside this quaint diner. Highly recommend the breakfast here. Their portion sizes are huge (meaning you never feel shorted on the price). I have always found the food to be hot and fresh. I highly recommend the corned beef hash. I personally had a veggie omelette with sausage gravy (which was very good), but my friend let me try her corned beef hash. This for breakfast on a Sunday. Let me start by saying our server was great, we took care of her. I got the corned beef hash, scrambled eggs and a biscuit because you can't get an English muffin. Apparently they have increased the size of their English muffins for their breakfast sandwiches and they "can't just go giving them out", seems ridiculous. The biscuit seemed to be barely baked, it had no structure and just crumbled in your hand even if you tried to put butter on it. The corned beef hash was stringly and dry, the potatoes (home fries) were ok, thought you can tell they had sat a while, they were barely warm. The scrambled eggs were pretty brown, I'd say over cooked. The ketchup was a cheap generic, a large fail. We were visiting relatives but I'm sure there has to be (Waffle House) a better breakfast somewhere in Delaware. read more

The mystic that was the Hamburger Inn remains. But the quality food, big portions, and great service were lost when the restaurant was sold to an out-of-town group. Prices have gone up, and hey where haven't they? I could forgive that. We all got bills to pay. The portion size has gone down. We've all heard of shrinkflation so I get it. We can't expect to get giant plates for dimes anymore. The quality has disappeared. That I can't forgive. I'm paying a premium price for a cheaper quality meal. That's where they lost me as a customer. I would try it about every quarter hoping that the last time was just an illusion. After 4-5 times of this, you realize that the good old days of the Hamburger Inn are gone. Replaced by "Sisco" diner food that so many other places serve. read more

After passing the Columbus area we got hungry. Saw the Hamburger Inn on Yelp so I decided we give this a try. Great burgers, not so great breakfast. I ordered a single patty cheeseburger with fries and it was fresh and delicious--definitely recommend it if you come here. My boyfriend ordered the tex mex scramble and said it was mediocre -- even after the waitress said it was her favorite lol. The scramble itself was hot and fresh but it was laid on top a big pile of old hash browns which was barely warm and stale. I told him we should've said something but at that point he just wanted to finish his scramble so we could leave. How have I not reviewed this place? I've been a handful of times - back when we used to meet up for "burger days" and it was added to the rotation. Smack dab in the downtown Delaware, sometimes parking is a pain, but it's in the "main strip." The decor is diner - it's not polished, but that's not the point. The FOOD is the point. And the food is good. Every time I've been here, it's been a variation of a burger, and it's ALWAYS been tasty. It's not wagyu beef. It's not "elevated." It's not "we swap out ingredients and make it weird." It's CLASSIC burgers made how you want it - so it can always sate that burger craving. But the REAL reason I want to come back is because of my love for cinnamon rolls - which is GRIDDLED. And yes, it's as awesome as you think it is. read more

Sooooo Disappointed!! Horrible Hospitality. Couldn't believe it, it was a Friday night and we drove two hours to get here and arrived just a few minutes past 8. The Place had a dozen or so people in it. Web said they were open till 10pm. Girl behind the counter said they were closed. New hours just took effect. Hundreds of people in the street for winter festivities. Why would you send people away at 8pm?? Horrible hospitality. Hamburger inn used to be a household favorite. Has gone down hill recently, it could use a good cleaning. Two trips ago sat down on a Saturday morning, expected a small wait, but was never serviced, never even had our table cleaned. Left after that Came in again today, quick service and seat during the busy Sunday morning during the iron man. Service was good, finally had order taken and then waited 30 plus minutes for the food we could see sitting under the heat lamp for most of that time, once we finally received our food and noticed it dry and inedible. Well, after a great first visit, our second visit completely failed in comparison. Our receipt asked that we review on Yelp, so I'm happy to oblige. It took over 10 minutes to get a waitress to talk to us. Others who came in after us were waited on first (received drinks and ordered food). We were one of four parties in the diner at the time. When we did order, my fiancé ordered the special for the day (a chorizo burger and a side of fries for $8.95). The waitress was confused and had "never heard" of what we were ordering. We explained what was included with the special. She shrugged. I took what I hoped was an easier route and ordered a side of biscuits and a sausage patty from the sides menu. She didn't understand this order either, thinking I wanted biscuits and gravy. We just hoped for the best. The special came out first. It did taste good, which was promising. Another 10 minutes went by without my food. We watched my single biscuit get microwaved and delivered to the table. It was steaming from the microwave heat. I was disappointed because biscuits was plural on the menu. It took another five minutes for my sausage patty to arrive and it was dreadful. Then we got our bill, $20. What? The special was listed as $9.95 and we were charged another $3.95 for the fries. The entire special was $8.95 on the board. We explained to the waitress, who told us we weren't overcharged and showed us on the screen that she was correct (she wasn't). With a little back and forth, she got her manager. The manager was bitter-the board was apparently incorrect-but she told the waitress (thinking we couldn't hear her) she could remove the extra charge for fries but keep the burger at $9.95. It wasn't worth fighting over the extra dollar, because it'll be the last dollar this business gets from me! read more

This place is a must-visit if you are passing through Delaware. Anytime of day is a great time to cozy-up to their counter for a plate of just-plain delicious cheeseburgers and fries, but I really recommend waking up for a too-good-to miss breakfast experience. Great spot if you are looking for a quick, delicious, inexpensive bite! We are in town for Ironman 70.3 Ohio and this is typically a spectator's dream on race day, but we decided to try it for dinner! We had the kids chicken tender with hand cut fries, two western burgers (one with waffle fries). Our food was piping hot and ready FAST! Three people ate for less than $35, and ended up full.
