We used to love this place but at a recent dine in trip, we had to question our check twice. FYI: They charge the tip automatically and add an additional extra fee if you are paying by card. We never experienced extra fees with any other establishment for card use. And tip is only automatic if you are a party of 5 or more. It's one thing if you notify people ahead of time but to charge loyal customers without their knowledge is wrong. What about the customers who do not check the bill? Terrible service!!! You can't exchange food choices. When I asked to speak to the manager, the server lied and said they wasn't there. They do not give you an itemized receipt. Hamilton BBQ is quintessential portuguese fare. Portions are huge and I can put it away too!! I ordered the 1/2 order of pork cubes and 1/2 order of Beef Short Ribs. Trust me...the 1/2 order is big enough. I ended up having both for 2 days of meals. The beef ribs are similar to a grilled skirt steak and have a subtle seasoning. A very healthy portion of yellow rice accompanies all entrees. The pork cubes are slightly seasoned and are very tender. I loved my selections so much, I am bringing my coworkers there tonight for dinner to experience it for themselves. read more

I have come here a bunch of times for lunch. Good food. HUGE portions, at a good value. Be prepared for bad service. Waitresses here seem like it's their first job ever, and are kinda strange. Continuing our quest for a good Portuguese Churrasqueria, my friend and I decided to try this establishment. It is very similar to 28th St; the general decorations, set up, menu are nearly identical -- to the point where we think they are trying to become a 'chain' of sorts. The food is very plentiful and a good value. We both enjoyed the pork ribs here, which seemed fresh and well seasoned. Plus, the waitress gave us the option of having the ribs with rice and salad (as opposed to rice/fries while ordering a side salad) which was rather welcome. The bread here was also different than at 28th St., which by all accounts was a good thing. The service here was excellent. The waitress was very friendly and quick with our orders. She even adjusted the air conditioning for us (we were the only patrons there and she noticed we were a bit cold)! My only real complaint is that the dessert item we wanted to order (despite being on the menu) wasn't available and seemed to confuse the waitress -- probably meaning it is rarely prepared, if ever. Also, the restaurant seemed to vibrate oddly (probably from air conditioning units) which was a little distracting. The bottom line is that it's decent food for a good value and great service. We'll likely head back there when we have a craving for quick, filling meal. read more

This place is a great hidden gem and I'm surprised it isn't more crowded whenever I come here. I almost always get a full order of ribs to share with a friend and we often still have leftovers because the portion is so massive. The food never fails to disappoint! I especially enjoy the pork ribs but the bbq chicken was great too. One thing to keep in mind is that this is Portuguese bbq so it's a dry rub instead of sauce. I can't say the same for the rice and the fries. I thought they were pretty bland. The rice definitely needed a little more season and the fries needed salt. They have Portuguese soda (Sumol, which I love) and also a variety of Guarana. casual environment. I went to Portugal on vacation a couple of times and love Portuguese food. I wish they had a larger variety of side items and appetizers available, such as simple things like an olive plate that one would routinely find in Portugal, but they seem to be working on that with recent addition of a cabbage and carrots side. BBQ in Portuguese generally means grilled and in this case over a charcoal pit. The food arrived in a timely fashion and it was a generous, savory, portion of meat, rice, beans and salad. The price point on each item was phenomenal. Unless you are sharing a meal order the half portion. I consider myself a hearty eater and I was able to take home leftovers with a half portion. All for a whopping $9 bucks. The rice pudding was delicious, I ordered the pork ribs and they were finger licking good- sans the messy sauce. I also ordered a delectable shrimp appetizer which served and whetted the appetite of our table of four. The ambiance is simple, casual, and no frills. So I'll being by saying that this place is just not what it used to be. The steak and ribs are tough, you'll practically need a hacksaw to cut through them. The rice is unseasoned and tastes like uncle bens rice. On top of that, the chicken is usually very salty. read more

This review is long overdue. I work at RWJ in New Brunswick and we always order from here, especially for our large lunch gatherings. They don't always deliver so if you're looking for that, call ahead to make sure. They are always very polite and friendly. The food is so good! That's why they're our go-to for food. Seafood paella for two is actually a whole tray and they don't skimp out on seafood. The bbq comes with sides of fries, salad, yellow rice or beans (2 of the 3). My other half and I got take out from here the other day for a late dinner. I was rushed on the phone, as if they we're busy and had to repeat myself several times. We got there about 15 mins later, around 8:40 to pick up and there wasn't a soul in the place. The portions were huge, a 1/2 was a large take out box stuffed to the top and a regular order is a half catering steam tray. I ordered the 1/2 of pork cubes and shrimp. What I got was 1/2 order of pork cubes, no shrimp. My other half order the regular steak and egg. What he got was steak, no egg. The food was good, but its a pet peeve of mine when people don't listen- especially coming from someone with food allergies-you lose points for that! read more

But even better, two women who work there started a conversation with me and specifically addressed the complaints I had in my previous review that I wrote on 5/13/14 under the previous ownership. One of the women actually recognized me from my Yelp profile picture and said my name. That totally took me by surprise but it was really nice knowing that this business actually reads their Yelp reviews and takes them to heart.
