This place used to be a well kept secret by a friend's father. He introduced me to this place and I have been going here for the past 4 years regularly. For $13 bucks, you can get enormous platters for two even three. The chicken is savory and is seasoned to perfection. Shrimp and garlic sauce appetizer was excellent except it was slightly over salted. The clam appetizer was ok. Clams were a bit tough. We ordered 1/2 orders of barbecue chicken, pork ribs, beef short ribs and the Brazilian steak. Long wait. A lot of take out going on. Great authentic Portuguese flavor. May even be slightly better than My fave place in Elizabeth called Algarve's. The meat was perfectly seasoned. Only thing i would do would be to ask for fresh ribs as the ones i got had some over cooked parts. The Chicken was excellent. The rice was pretty standard not terrible but not the best ever. Over all i'd go back again for my Portuguese food craving fix especially for the meats and the price and of course location! 5 mins away from my new condo in New brunswick. Very good food for Portuguese BB convenient location on Hamilton Street in the Somerset section of Franklin Township. Generous portions of food, well-seasoned and for the most part consistent quality. the large portions come with a humongous serving of rice, certainly enough for a family of 4-5, although the amount of meat apportioned in comparison is usually enough for 2-3 people with a generous appetite, so you may have to order some additional to satisfy.Good flavor on the meats, but I found the pork to be overcooked and tough more times than not. The bisteak is tender and flavorful. We usually get take out, but the small dining area is clean, friendly and the service is acceptable. Definitely worth a try once to see if it is your taste. This place is a small spot on a corner. As soon as you walk in you smell their delicious signature BBQ sauce and see the chicken spinning and being bathed in it on a grill. We had dinner with friends a couple weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised. The place looks bigger from the outside but inside is very homey. We were seated immediately and had a bunch of questions which the waitress politely and patiently answered. She even told us that portions would be huge and recommended the half portion. A full portion Togo is served on a half sheet pan sized tray filled with rice and them topped generously with your meat of choice. Portions are huge, the meat is tender and the plantains are the best I've ever had. I highly suggest this place if you have never been before. I split it with one other person but it could easily feed 3. Solid Portuguese cuisine. Will be going back for more. They also sell somul, which is a fruit juice/soda. Hamilton barbecue is disgusting I ordered ribs take out when I got home, I open the container the meat was blue color and raw, I called and asked to speak to the manager the waitress told me the manager doesn't speak any English, so there is nothing they can do for me. And then, initially, we were going to each get a platter but the waitress recommended that we share a combo platter together. We ended up getting the beef and pork combo with rice and beans. I'm glad she told us to share because the portion size is HUGE. We shared and still had left overs for the next day! Both the pork and the beef were very good, though I had slightly more of a preference for the beef. The rice was also very flavorful as well.
