Been going to Spain92 every 4-6 weeks for 20 years, my wife and I order the same thing 90% of the time.. piquillo pepper salad & stuffed mushrooms for app, Galician octopus & shrimp in spicy garlic tomato sauce for main. it is always great. When I read reviews that mentions lack of flavor that is probably just less salt which is a good thing, food should be salted at the table to taste not absorbed in the cooking, I don't like salted food. I know the food is made right because I eat a lot and never got a tight or stuffed stomach, even if we split a flan. I suggest asking the server to toast the bread, it is awesome that way. I can't vouch for the other dishes but talk to a lot of people walking out as we dine at the bar, and had a couple parties over the years and never heard any complaints. The interior and service has always been attractive and clean. My all-time favorite spot and I was a regional sales exec and foodie that only eats in owner operated non-chain spots or I don't eat. Very poor service,seafood parks barely have any seafood in it. Unfriendly waitress, frowned through every contact. I must say waitress was Mrs pleasant to the Spanish speaking guests seating next table to us. I guess that must be the criterion for good service. I returned after a long hiatus. Everything I tried was something I had previously tasted. The shrimp in garlic sauce, fried calamari, and Spanish sausages were all ordered as appetizers. They were similar to what I remembered from my prior visits. However, there seemed to be enough sauce this time around for both the shrimp and sausage, so the bread that was served soaked up all the remaining. The calamari was the same too; it was not crunchy enough for my liking, but still had a nice balance of breading. I had the lamb shank special again, and it was very tasty, but there was just not enough meat on the bone. It was extremely tender once again. There was also a side of vegetables that were tasty. For Appetizers I started with CHORIZOS ESPAÑOLES grilled Chorizo with peppers, It was good. I also ordered CAMARONES AL AJILLO Garlic Shrimp. If you like garlic then this is the appetizer to get. I like to dip my bread in the sauce. It's very garlicky. For my Entree I ordered MARISCADA SPAIN 92 in Green Sauce. My dish had lobster, shrimp, clams, and mussels in a salsa verde sauce. I prefer it over the optional red sauce. On the side came a dish of yellow rice and fried potatoes. The potatoes were similar to thick fried potato chips. My Boyfriend ordered ARROZ CON POLLO- Chicken and Rice. He really enjoyed it and got two full meals out of it. My other friend ordered their TERNERA SPAIN 92 veal cutlets, stuffed with ham and cheese prepared in a sherry wine and lemon sauce. My friend really liked it.His wife ordered FILET MIGNON SPAIN 92 sliced filet with shrimp in a brandy sauce. She loved her dish. For Dessert I ordered a FLAN. Everyone was full so I only ordered one dessert. The flan was creamy and delicious. The caramel truly makes the dish. I would suggest getting a flan for each person. The impact of the pandemic is telling by the shortage of staff but it didn't show in the service, Atalo sat us, tended bar & waited on us. Sergio & Manny were there to check in on us & Santiago bussed and served us. When we arrived it wasn't so busy as it was early but as we left the tables were filling up. It seems like here as well as my other friends restaurants have the same problem finding staff. This pandemic/staffing situation has to end soon or we'll all be a mess. My SO and I visited Spain 92 for a small, private wedding and I was very impressed with the space. There was plenty of parking available and we were greeted upon our entry and told where to go. They sectioned off an area for the wedding, so we had full privacy to enjoy seeing our friends get married. The service was fantastic, and they were very accommodating with providing me with a vegetarian paella separate from the menu my friends made. He was very inattentive and lost the leftover filet mignon we asked to be wrapped. When we asked for a replacement he came out with some kind of meatloaf instead. It took several tries and the attention of the manager and we ended up with an overdone piece of steak. The receipt was not itemized. If you go here, I advise giving the waiter a sobriety test. I have been here many times, but this is the first time that I thought to write up a review for them. Good, solid food. The quality is the same as going to the Ironbound, and you don't even have to go to Newark! My wife and I both ordered the paella (me the one with chicken and sausage, and she the seafood-only one), and they make it with a "dry rice" rather than a "wet rice," which is how we like it. If you've eaten paella at different places, I think you'll know what I mean by that. However, my one criticism is that their paella no longer has scallops in it anymore. Tried the empanadas as an appetizer- nice golden brown crust, delicious pulled chicken filling, and an interesting little pink sauce for dipping if you want. One of us ordered steak, which came with a medley of potato pieces, with spinach and carrot slices and a side of onion rings. Everything was very nicely prepared. We also had the chicken and rice dish, which was huge, and had a mix of rice, peas, diced bell peppers, and cubes chicken and slices of sausage. Cappuccino, chocolate lava cake, and flan were also delicious. The service was great- everyone was friendly, professional, and prompt. As we sat, the room filled with customers, some you could tell are regulars and others seemed new, like us. The dining area is on a raised platform, covered by artificial turf, naturally eliminating that 'parking lot' dining feel. They are trying to cut back as much as they can on costs. You see it in the food. For appetizers, we ordered stuffed avocados. The avocados were so unripe, you couldn't get a fork in them. How much is a ripe avocado? They used to served potatoes and rice with the meal. Now, it is just veggies or fried potatoes. The stuffing of the lobster wasn't real crab meat. AND, to top it off, the A/C went out in the dining area, so we ate in the bar area which was under 80 degrees. Service wasn't great because they never checked on the bar area, even though there were only 5 tables of people. To my followers: Sad to see a place like this run down. I had a party for 40 people at Spain 92 yesterday. Everything was perfect! The food was delicious. The service was top-notch and the owner was delightful. He even played his bagpipes for us! They were very accommodating, too. I requested a vegetarian menu for a few attendees and they were able to provide that in addition to the menu.
