I wanted to stay inside (mosquitos are always an issue in the evening), so they have a really nice tap room area as well as their dining area. You might start with their award-winning American Brown Ale. I was very pleased with how well made this ale was, with real depth and richness without any cloying sweetness. I followed it up with a Pomegranate Odyssey, a wild fermented sour ale. If you like sour ales, as I do, you should like this, although I've had more strikingly sour ones. This, however, nicely balances just a slight sweetness of pomegranate with the sour ferment. Their veggie burger is very good, although it's not made in-house. Still, it's a quality burger. Perhaps it's changed since my visit, but the veggie burger was served only on a gluten-free roll. Like somehow they'd cover the vegetarians and the gluten-free crowd in one dish, like feeding two birds with one crumb. But I'd prefer a regular, wheat-based roll. Fries were excellent, too. But what really made them stand out was the excellent service and friendly staff. I was alone, and the manager and bar tend both chatted with me, but without being intrusive. Really great people I was happy to get to know a little bit, and they were quite willing share info with me about the menu and brews, as this was my first visit. Very walkable from downtown Hamilton or even from the main Colgate U. campus. Sidewalks or pathways are available to keep off the main road, Rte. 128. No need for the designated driver! Will be back!

Sat at the bar as I was alone but there were tables inside and picnic tables outside for a variety of seating options. I was offered water immediately with my menu. I sampled the Berry Sour Seltzer which tasted great. Not too fruity and too bitter. I ordered a glass. The food offerings were limited to one side of the menu, half being appetizers and half being meals. I was a bit surprised by the cost of the Elk Burger ($29) but made that my choice as I wanted more than an appetizer but good comfort food. It came with smoked gouda, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo on a thick yet soft bun. Salad greens coated with balsamic dressing accompanied the burger (fries were available for an up charge). One bite told me I'd made the correct choice and the price was worth it. The burger (ordered medium well) was hot and juicy and the bun did a great job of balancing that without falling apart or getting soggy. The Gouda cheese had such great flavor and it was in the perfect state of warm but not melt-coated into the burger. My water was consistently refilled and I sat there and enjoyed every bite of that burger and salad while I drank my Seltzer.

So they once didn't accept my buddy which they refer is my brother who come here regular customer buy liquors here since 2007. He is over 21 years of age and is legal to buy alcohol. These people are being very racist toward Asian people and want to look down on them. They think that the Asian people are uneducated and treat us differently. They ignored us when we come to the liquor store and didn't even bother to come and to talk or offer help. So second of all, I came back the second time to show my ID that I wasn't a baby and have a proof of my driver license that I'm not a minors. The person that sell the liquors is underage and he cannot sell alcohol until he's 21. So they are doing illegal work at the store and should be punish. As a Asian American people I feel denial for the very first time. All I want is a apology from them for being racist towards Asian customers and say sorry because this is American! We all have equal rights!!! So called the manger also posted on their Facebook story to mocked me. So the owner blocked me on all their social media platform when I revealed the truth. Hey, if you guys are racist just said that. I came back to your store with my ID and buy the alcohol it seem like you guys were very quiet. And also, the lady at the table tasty didn't even offer me to taste their drink lmao is it because I am Asian? Wow! Asian hate crime is real at the finest and you guys played yourself well. Congratulations!!! At least show some respect and sympathy to your customer no matter what the color or race! Thank you sir!

I went inside to order a drink and some food and was passed by twice before the woman said she'd be with me. Another younger girl came over and asked if I wanted to order something. Odd questions since I'd been standing there looking at the menu that was on the bar as well as looking at the beers they had listed on the board. I ordered a wheat blonde beer and told her I also wanted to place a food order. She told me I couldn't do that there, and said I needed to order from the food truck table. That table had a chalkboard with their three specials, different items than the bar menu so I ordered off of that, was given a pager and headed outside (The food truck girl was very kind and asked where I was sitting but I hadn't picked a table yet) I ordered a cauliflower margarita pizza which was just the right size to pair with my beer. It came out quick and hot and tasted good. I sat at my table eating alone and enjoying the music but found that that's what everyone was doing. Sitting at their own tables. Enjoying the music or conversing amongst themselves but keeping to themselves. For a brewery with live music on a sunny Saturday afternoon it was just ok.

We ordered - house salad - solid salad with house dressing. nice, nothing crazy - onion soup, this was excellent. really well done, from the croutons, cheese and flavor. wow - calamari - the only thing we didnt love - chicken schnitzle - excellent, authentic - scallops - fresh, perfectly cooked. a bit too sauced, but great - creamy garlic and spinach pasta - our kids didnt love, but decent The desserts were great as well. The restaurant was very accommodating to our casual attire and 3 young kids. Amazingly kind. The entire experience is a bit like going back in time, the historic nature of the setting is hard to explain, but you really feel it.
