Fast friendly service. Stopped in looking for some decent food and a cold beverage and made a good choice. Sat at the bar as I was alone but there were tables inside and picnic tables outside for a variety of seating options. I was offered water immediately with my menu. I sampled the Berry Sour Seltzer which tasted great. Not too fruity and too bitter. I ordered a glass. The food offerings were limited to one side of the menu, half being appetizers and half being meals. I was a bit surprised by the cost of the Elk Burger ($29) but made that my choice as I wanted more than an appetizer but good comfort food. It came with smoked gouda, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo on a thick yet soft bun. Salad greens coated with balsamic dressing accompanied the burger (fries were available for an up charge). One bite told me I'd made the correct choice and the price was worth it. The burger (ordered medium well) was hot and juicy and the bun did a great job of balancing that without falling apart or getting soggy. The Gouda cheese had such great flavor and it was in the perfect state of warm but not melt-coated into the burger. My water was consistently refilled and I sat there and enjoyed every bite of that burger and salad while I drank my Seltzer. read more

First visit this summer, was very impressed. Large outdoor "beer garden" seating area. Kid friendly. I wanted to stay inside (mosquitos are always an issue in the evening), so they have a really nice tap room area as well as their dining area. You might start with their award-winning American Brown Ale. I was very pleased with how well made this ale was, with real depth and richness without any cloying sweetness. I followed it up with a Pomegranate Odyssey, a wild fermented sour ale. If you like sour ales, as I do, you should like this, although I've had more strikingly sour ones. This, however, nicely balances just a slight sweetness of pomegranate with the sour ferment. Their veggie burger is very good, although it's not made in-house. Still, it's a quality burger. Perhaps it's changed since my visit, but the veggie burger was served only on a gluten-free roll. Like somehow they'd cover the vegetarians and the gluten-free crowd in one dish, like feeding two birds with one crumb. But I'd prefer a regular, wheat-based roll. Fries were excellent, too. But what really made them stand out was the excellent service and friendly staff. I was alone, and the manager and bar tend both chatted with me, but without being intrusive. Really great people I was happy to get to know a little bit, and they were quite willing share info with me about the menu and brews, as this was my first visit. Very walkable from downtown Hamilton or even from the main Colgate U. campus. Sidewalks or pathways are available to keep off the main road, Rte. 128. No need for the designated driver! Parents weekend at Colgate. Reservation for 3 at 530 PM One server, one bartender, one cook private party outside for 100 guests. Our table and every table had to wait over an hour for the order to be taken. It was a 3 hour ordeal to eat a burger. Told the hostess was new so couldn't take an order. They knew that this was one of the busiest times because of the campus homecoming and the small amount of food establishments in the small town. Owner not there. I suggested to them to have the cook make a dozen of this item, a dozen of many items and ask the tables what they wanted to buy. They couldn't pivot. Had a few employees in the brewery because it was glass to see in. No one helped. It was so bad that we laughed and more important all the parents had time with their children. I guess this is why the brewery is in the small town because it is small minded. Unthinkable. Did they call any of the reservation clients to apologize no. They should have comped the night and apologized to their staff who tried so hard. Beyond ridiculous. GOOD was not GOOD. IT was BAD. Should have closed off reservations, denied sitting more guests. I guess this is acceptable in the small town. If i was the owner I would have been there would have called Colgate and apologized. But when you are one of the only acts in town I guess you can do whatever you want. Makes the hospitality industry look so bad. For a place like this they should use POS system tablets, let us place our own food. My suggestion stop drinking your beer, wake up business is not grown this way. OR hire some robots. read more

Thank goodness no one was seriously ill but it was pretty rough. Additionally, the menu is completely inappropriate for a brewery in a central NY college town. The good? Their variety of beer choices. Very clean premises. Very good service....friendly, polite, attentive. The bad? IMO, their lunch menu of pub food should be available all day. I'm old school and love breweries Good Nature, but I don't go to a brewery for dinner and expect to only choose from full, nearly gourmet, and pricey dinners. Took a drive out to eat here today and it was incredible! The furniture and jewel tone design was beautiful and set a nice ambience. We sat at the bar and tried a few drinks that the bartenders came up with and they were all deliciously crafted, nothing like I've tried before (but am gonna want all the time!) We got the avocado toast and the garbage plate that was served in a skillet. They really elevated the flavors of the avocado toast and the "garbage plate" looked amazing. I'll 100% be back to try their dinner specials and the different drinks they create. One of my new favorite spots and it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon! read more

We ate here because we were camping here through Harvest Host. The college students had just come back for the new school year, so it was a little busy and lively. There is a lot of nice outdoor seating, and the views are gorgeous. There is a brewery here, so it had an extensive beer list and many wines. The food menu was more limited than I would've liked, but everything was really good. read more

Stopped in after a concert at the Earlville Opera House. A Sunday afternoon, and the place was mostly empty. They had a band setting up for a 4-6pm gig. Was happy that things were mostly quiet. We ordered a few beers (cream ale on draught!) and a bowl of the corn chowder (heavy on the cream). I got the black and bleu burger with house chips (very good), and finished with a bourbon barel aged imperial chocolate stout. Excellent, and just the right size. The band was ok, but you could tell their hearts weren't in it, since they played about five of us in total. Would be interested to stop in when the place is full of energy. read more

Happy Tuesday my fellow Adventurers! I've been coming to this location for the past 2 years when I'm in the area for a glamping trip. It never disappoints! Though I will say I happen to be there the day after their pizza oven wasn't working, which sucked because I really enjoyed their pizza. I ended up getting the flat bread, I wasn't really into it. The crust was pretty soft, and the sauce made the whole thing soggy? Tasted fine, but I have a thing with textures. I did order the fries, which were really good(good portion size), but definitely ask if they can fry them a bit I recommend asking for the aioli sauce aoili sauce, which made them more rich. I also ordered the mesclun salad and pumpkin ale. Both were really good, thought as far as pumpkin ales I do prefer mine with a cinnamon sugared rim. The best part about this is the patio ONLY is dog friendly! I travel with my pup and always love when I can enjoy the ambiance with him. I recommend if you come around the time I did (late October) bring extra jacket and bundle. The patio can be quite chilly when the sun starts to go down. Its a huge patio area with picnic tables and lights. I did not notice if there were heating lamps since the inside was open. This is a college town however I saw plenty of mixed groups. The beer saved this review and is the redeeming factor here. Without the beer... it would be a WEAK 3 to a MEDIUM 2 at best (Below average). Nothing special about the food and the service was all over the map. As I live over an hour away I will not be visiting again, which is too bad because I'd like to try It again to see if my experience is standard or if I happened to visit on an off night.. The kitchen is small and as they were doing a vibrant take out service the in-house order fulfillment seemed to suffer. Over 45 minutes for wings (tasty) burgers (better than average) fries (limp & soggy) chips (burnt) and pretzels to come out. However, if there was a place like this around campus When I was in college, I'd be a regular visitor for the beer. The beer was very good, and if this review was only about the beer and bar service I'd give a strong 4. BUT..... I had such high hopes. read more

Food was bomb. Pulled pork and garlic parm fries are 10/10. Beer was alright. We got 2 beer flights and the beer was kinda warm (thats why I took away 1 star). Theres live music on Wednesday which was a great vibe. Huge outdoor seating area. Our waiter (I WISH I GOT HIS NAME, he was wearing a sponge-bob mask) was absolutely phenomenal. Honestly a bit shocked by the service here. I've been here plenty of times, but twice in the past week and both the service and communication were awful. We had to ask four times if our outdoor table was ready after waiting over 30 minutes when all the table had to do was be bussed. Two parties who came after us were seated first. Then the waitress asked if we could wait even longer since someone with a dog came who wasn't able to wait inside. That is not our problem. Finally we were seated outside and got our drinks after 45 minutes. We proceeded to wait an hour more only to find out our food order was never put in. It was frustrating to waste so much time and have to constantly check in to check the status of everything. We left without our food since we were starving by that point. It's fine that they are busy, but if they would have set expectations upfront and communicated, not ignored. read more

Our 2017 December brewery was Good Nature Farm Brewery. Right next to Colgate University, this spot has a cool bar/kitchen with plenty of seating. We checked it out for brunch on a Sunday but wound up getting food off the regular menu. They have tons of vegetarian options. Highly recommend the Funky Goat sandwich. The veggie/vegan burger was interesting but flavor was just okay. Quite a few ipas on tap. We recommend the Moxie Fruit IPA. Also got a Bloody Mary. The bar tender offered us vodka or corn whisky for the booze in it. I went with vodka but he let me try a little bit of the corn whisky. Was pretty weird! Would probably recommend vodka unless you're feeling really adventurous. Great friendly staff. Thanks for a good time! read more

What a very nice establishment with equally nice staff. I'm only giving 4 stars as I didn't try to food but the menu that is posted is what they currently offer. We sat at the bar with a local couple and had a nice conversation with them and the bartender. We tried the blonde at first then I saw the smokehouse on the menu and she gave me a sample.. omg yum! Apparently it's smoked at a local BBQ joint (that everyone knows about and it's a must go to Ray Brothers BBQ). I'm not huge on smoked flavors but it was light smoke and the rest of the beer had a cream/amber finish. We didn't stay for food as we were trying to fit a variety of places into our dat trip. I cannot wait to come back in the summer to enjoy the outside patio, there was plenty of indoor seating as well though. read more

Small little microbrewery in Hamilton, NY. I got a flight of 6 beers for $10, a steal if you ask me. All of the beers were excellent. The blonde was very drinkable, the stout was pretty comparable to a Guinness. My favorite was "Annie," which is a double IPA, with a hefty 8.5% ABV. I sadly spilled half of that one all over myself, but luckily, they have 22 oz bottles you can take home with you for $10 (other beers were a bit cheaper), so I grabbed two to bring home for my roommate and myself. The bartenders were super nice and very knowledgeable about the beers which made picking a selection really simple. Only complaints would be that the place is very rugged and seems somewhat old, like, old chairs, wobbly tables. Not sure if that's intentional for the aesthetic but they could afford some upgrades. Great little place though! Can't wait to bring these beers home to my roommate! read more

Use to go to school out this way and today I just found out they opened a farm brewery while I was driving through. So I made it point to stop by when I swung back. This place is delicious. The beers at the tap room and old brewery were always good, they have this "Blight Buster" IPA that I think is delicious. I am not an IPA drinker if that tells you anything. Food wise, the all about sprouts salad was something I want for lunch every day of my life. Also had the Pork Bani Mai, twice. It was so good, I had to have another.
