There was no reason for them to touch, drill, or alter my two front teeth, yet they proceeded to drill into them, creating additional trauma and leaving my teeth looking worse and aesthetically unappealing. I came in expecting them to repair the tooth that was actually damaged from my accident--not create problems with teeth that did not need treatment. The situation made me question why additional work was performed when it appeared unnecessary, and whether they were creating additional dental damage in order to justify additional treatment and billing. Based on my experience, I am deeply concerned that the practice may be engaging in deceptive or potentially fraudulent billing practices, and I believe their treatment of my teeth and the charges associated with it should be thoroughly investigated. If you notice in the first picture, I posted there's only a crack in my back tooth. My front teeth are perfectly aligned. There's no indents, there's no drill texture, There's no lines. It's just a smooth Tooth however, in the second photo, this is me leaving the dentist office they did not address my original crack Tooth instead, they did their own thing on my front teeth!!! And look how horrible it looks

I started working with Dr. Dougherty about three years ago when I decided to finally do something…read moreabout my narrow jaw and slightly crooked teeth. First, he very patiently explained why I needed to start with a SARPE surgery to get truly transformative results. He showed me simulations of how the surgery worked and was honest with me about what recovery would be like (rough). After a few months of recovery, he fixed an expanding device to the roof of my mouth and we began slowly cranking the roof of my mouth wider and wider. I won't lie, I was a whiner; I hated wearing that device because it gave me a lisp. But Dr. Dougherty encouraged me at every appointment to hang in there and stay the course. Then, I had the choice of wearing traditional braces for about six months or Invisalign for about a year and a half. I chose to go with Invisalign, which ended up taking almost a year longer than we thought it would. If I could go back, I'd go the traditional braces route and just suffer through it for a shorter period (which was Dr. Dougherty's recommendation to begin with). After everything, I can't argue with the end results. Friends tell me that my face is totally transformed. My lawline is definitely more defined. Dr. Dougherty and the rest of the staff are so friendly and always check in with you about how you are doing at every appointment. He helped me work out a payment plan that made all this affordable for me, and listened to my concerns every step of the way. Dr. Dougherty cares about his patients and I highly recommend seeing him for orthodontics. I never had to spend long in his waiting room, and when I needed to reschedule appointments, the front desk staff were helpful and accomodating.

Fast forward to being 36 years old and living in LA, I called several places to find the best fit. I knew from the FIRST call with BHO that I was in the right hands, they were incredible. I mean this in every sense of the word. They were compassionate, transparent about pricing, genuinely happy to be helping me and smart. I was consistently met in the clinic for my routine appointments with the same technicians (I didn't notice any turnover) and staff who were professional, knowledgeable and held my hand every step of the way. They have a number to text which makes scheduling super smooth, and I probably rescheduled my appointments a million times during the process due to travel but they were always really chill and nice about it - helping work around whatever my schedule was that month. Like a lot of people, I used to look at an insurance plan, see certain services listed as benefits, and assume that pretty much told me what I would or would not have to pay for at the dentist. Ani explained that it really isn't that simple. Her advice was excellent: when choosing health or dental insurance, don't just compare the monthly premium or a few attractive benefits listed in the summary. Different plans have different networks, limitations, exclusions, copays and rules, and some of the insurance language can be difficult for the average person to understand. A plan that costs less may be perfect for one person, while someone else may be better served by a different plan. She suggested speaking with a licensed insurance broker or benefits professional before choosing a plan because they understand the differences between plans and can explain what you are actually buying before you enroll. I thought that was great advice. The other thing Ani made very clear is that the dentist's job is to examine you and recommend the treatment he believes is appropriate based on his clinical findings. Your insurance plan is a separate issue and determines how your particular benefits are calculated. I had never really thought about those as two different things before. That conversation cleared up a lot of confusion for me. Great experience, very helpful staff, and probably some of the best insurance advice anyone has ever given me.
