But honestly, even if the service sucked, the chairs were broken, and the menu only had the cheesesteak- I'd still be recommending this place. Best beef philly cheesesteak I've ever had here in Seattle (I've never been to Philly so not sure how the OG tastes). Service is fast, they mean business so know what you want. Luckily, they have many signs to help you order your food. Everything was fresh and hot. The place was very busy which is a great indicator of a good place to eat. Tried this place out because of a TikTok recommendation. I love a good sandwich and that's exactly what I got. My meatball sub was warm and toasty. The service was a real deli - like, where they call out the number of your order and you seat yourself. My friend got the New Yorker and there's definitley always the other 1/2 to take home. On weekdays, this place offers breakfast. I went here several months ago and had a steak and egg sub that was outstanding. I couldn't wait for a weekday off to relive the experience. My 2nd experience was completely different. I ordered the same sub along with home fries. The sub looked different than earlier, which was fine. However, it wasn't nearly as good. At least it was edible, unlike what they passed off as "home fries." I was expecting breakfast style fries, i.e. diced, seasoned, fried potatoes. Instead, I got French fries that were fried with onions and served barely room temperature. Some of the fries didn't taste fully cooked. A few bites in, and the rest was destined for the garbage. On the plus side, the staff seemed very nice. They too, though, were not as I remembered. I've been to Tat's a total of a handful of times. The place bills itself as an authentic East Coast style sub shop, and the staff sounded like they were from the northeast. This last visit, however, the staff was clearly Hispanic, which is a big plus if you're going out for Mexican food. I suspect that Tat's has changed ownership. What a loss. read more
