It was in a fancy part of town but once you stepped inside, it felt like you were in a real New York deli. I ordered a NYC Special: California Dream sandwich (~$15), it was grilled on a Panini press --- Delicious! Service was pretty fast. It also was a mini convenient store, it had chips and sodas, and a bunch of other random things for sale. There's no place to sit inside. It was a grab go place. I will say without the pesto I could see it being kind of on the dryer side, but I personally always like my sandwiches with some kind of sauce(s). The employee working wasn't super nice - he didn't greet me or look at me at all, he just asked what I wanted and then made my sandwich. In general, this food place also had a ton of unique flavored candy, chips, and drinks, and also served alcohol. This is what differentiated itself from any other sandwich shop - it had SO many other things. It was like a mini snack shop and sandwich place in one. Sandwiches were decent. Not bad but nothing special. I tried the Mesquite Smoked Turkey with Havarti and Garden Veggie sandwiches. I'm not a fan of fridge tomatoes. Sandwiches had the option of Hot or Cold - although I was disappointed that Cold also means the bread is not toasted which really gave the whole thing kind of a blah boring-ness. Atmosphere - The setup and logistics felt very awkward and that was the memorable part to me. Walking in, the counters funnel everyone straight to the sandwich ordering line, but if you want to pick out a drink then you need to walk through/past everyone in line and walk around to the coolers on the side wall, then get back to the end of the line (again, navigating a path through a tight space full of people). There is not a way to go to the drink section first. I want to add kudos for the drink selection though, they have plenty of good choices (fruit juice, beer, kombucha, bottled tea, etc). I had to ask a couple of times for my receipt; they don't print one unless you ask. There are a few indoor seats at counters, but it felt like a pretty chaotic atmosphere so I suggest that to-go is probably best. read more

My daughter and I were looking for a NYC Deli style market and man, this place fell short. The staff was nice and the shop had some great options. I can imagine if you lived in a condo nearby or were at a hotel, it would be ideal for picking up a quick bite or essentials. However, the NYC Deli name is really misleading.
