I am so disappointed to have to write this:( I was so excited about Hamlin coming to Shelby Twp.! I live right down the street, so it would be so convenient and the Rochester Hamlin was always great, however, this one stinks!! After a few years, it is getting worse and worse..... We are in there quite regularly, although we are going to stop going in, but the service is awful every single time. You think that we would have learned by now... After a while you get to know servers/bartenders, but these people want nothing to do with thier customers. The food is lousy, the beer gives me a headache and they ALWAYS charge you for more drinks that you order.. Now, I have learned to watch my bill, especially if there is a large group of you. This place is extremely disappointing and I truly think that it is going to go under, if they don't find more friendly staff! read more

I am only giving a bad review because of the experience with a particular bartender which is sad but the business you own operates either poorly or perfectly based on the kind of people you allow to run it and she is awful. My husband and I had a late double date night with a couple which included late dinner on the evening of 2-23-19 . WE arrived to Hamlin late because we hadn't got the opportunity to go out. I don't drink so my husband ordered me a bottle of water which was 2.50 we were told (a little pricey for water but whatever). My husband placed 20 bucks on the bar and waited for his change (I watched this happen). She walked away and when he asked for his change she told him that he only gave her 1 buck which was a complete lie. I think she assumed he was drunk since we arrived to the bar at midnight. He attempted to argue with her but didn't want to ruin everyone's night. He then gave her another $20 which she finally issued the change for. These kinds of things make a good place a bad place. Hire people with integrity and you reputation will remain in tact. Instead of making a scene we will be making sure that we review this place all over the internet for our awful experience. If i could give ZERO stars, i would!!! Walked into this place and it was DISGUSTING. Tables were not cleared off and filthy, only saw 2 waitresses and they paid no mind to anyone that walked in to be seated but rather be mingling with friends at their table! We sat down and waited for someone to approach us for at least 15 minutes. Finally someone comes takes our drink order but NO MENU YET. Finally comes back with a menu, we then place the order with her - only for her to go back and mingle but not actually give the order to the kitchen. Comes back 15 minutes later apologizing that only the fryer is on but kitchen closed and saying she put the order in late " sorry do u want something from the fryer" So we basically wasted 45 min and got NOTHING because the lack of service from EMPLOYEES there who doesnt care about someone else's business!!! Initially greeted and served our drinks, but then we were ghosted for the next 20+ minutes waiting to order our dinner - we were ravenous. During that time, a large group came in and chose to sit at the table directly next to us, and then pulled chairs to the end of it so that they were sitting within a foot or so of us, during a time where COVID social distancing should have been occurring. None of the staff said a word. We left a generous cash payment for our drinks and just left. Not sure if we'll be coming back to this particular location. I was visiting here recently. Stopped for lunch & drinks. I love this restaurant. Had the signature Bloody Mary. One word = AWESOME Its a meal in it self. I also had the fish & chips. I believe the fish was coated with corn meal and it was fantastic. Great neighborhood bar, sports bar, family vibe. I've heard they offer live music, we'll see on my next trip there. read more

I frequent this location because of the involvement of my children at a near by High School. So, for St. Patrick's Day I invited 20 of my friends to join me. Just ran a tab a usual so I didn't even check the prices, five dollars for a small tap green beer, all the prices were higher, while all the other bars in the area were running specials??? My bill was outrageous and I felt like I was gouged and embarrassed that I suggested the Hamlin to my friends. read more

Tried to get a reservation (on a Wednesday) for two people this weekend. After being put on hold for a couple minutes, a young lady let me know I would need to get there by 8pm which I said would not be a problem. She then asked how many in the party and when I said two, she said "F^C#!" which I thought quite rude and then she explained they usually take reservations for large parties. I didn't f think it was even worth listening to her after this so I said I was sorry to bother her and hung up. Since I would be driving to their location from the Brighton area I certainly won't be driving for an hour only to stand around all night in their bar. The Hamlin chain has lost me as a customer. read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars to help balance out the negative ratings. We almost didn't come here because of the 2 1/2 star rating, but a dozen of us were across the street at the funeral home and wanted a place to get together for a late dinner and drinks. Some of us non-Catholics left before the rosary and scouted out a few places, but ended up back at Hamlin Pub where we found them very accommodating. They had a separate room where the staff pushed tables together so we could talk without having to shout over the bar crowd, which was exactly what we were looking for. It also worked out well when the live music started. The acoustic duo was nice to listen to, but I appreciated that they were in the other room so they didn't drown out our conversations. The waitress did well considering we weren't all seated at the same time and the size of our group. A couple of people felt she wasn't quick enough with drink refills and others felt that she was rushing us out by delivering our bills when they wanted to order another round, but she knew the beer menu well, all of the dinner and drink orders were correct, and since we didn't have a reservation for our large group, I can overlook a few imperfections. The food was good! I ordered the California turkey burger, which was flavorful and had a spicy little kick to it. I requested Cole slaw instead of fries on the side and got a huge bowl of it! The group ordered 3 baskets of pretzel sticks and they were devoured, and everyone enjoyed their dinners. There seemed to be a slight discrepancy in the serving sizes of different dishes. For instance, the sandwiches around the table were too big for people to eat the whole thing, but the fish and chips included two Palm-sized pieces of fish (a decent serving but not overly generous). All-in-all I'd say this place doesn't deserve the 1-star reviews it received. If the place was a health hazard I could understand it, but the restaurant was clean, the food was good and the service was very accommodating. read more

The food keeps getting worse, if that is possible! The burger looked like it was steamed instead of grilled or fried, and tasted really odd. The fries were good. The perch dinner that was on special for the month was horrible. The filets were overcooked dark brown pieces in shapes that did not look like any perch that I have ever had before. I doubt it actually was perch The place had a sour smell to it, like maybe the carpet needed cleaning. For it being a relatively new business, the place looks worn and beat up. The service is very slow, considering only about 8 tables were being served at the time i was there. We used to go there frequently, but lately because of the poor food we haven't been going as often. Well last night was our last visit. Terrible! read more

Every Hamlin has the same look, feel, and a surprisingly similar crowd. Tons of cougars and old wasted dudes. Service can lack a bit when it's busy but I have received some pretty strong pours here to make up for it. read more

Very good deli/bar food. I really enjoyed my avacado mushroom burger. Bartenders know how to mix drinks... no chinsy alcohol here! Nice place, non smoking section is pretty good for a bar (the glass partition actually helps some!) However everytime I go, I always seem to get bad waitresses. read more

I think this is the nicest of all of the Hamlin Pub locales, and certainly seems the largest. And it is ALWAYS packed, everytime I go. What I like about this place is the size, it's a great place to check out a band, and know you will most likely be able to get a seat. I've eating small things here on occaision, and I don't think Hamlin is known for their food.....and that's fine... But to grab a couple beers and check out a show, it's great! If you grew up in the area, which I did, you'll no doubt run into someone from your past! read more

Still a lot regular spot for our fam. Update 9/20/14 - the last two times we have been here the service is improved. Manager Craig has gone out of his way to make sure our dining experience was great. The servers themselves still seem to give a little less attention to customers that they should but they are improved since previous visits. There have not been any mistakes on our bills either. I came here last night with a friend and was disappointed. It was the first time I've been and I wanted to get a drink and an appetizer. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri, which was delicious, and the spinach and artichoke dip. That was a huge mistake. The dip was clearly old. It was so overly cheesy I could barely taste the main ingredients. It had the texture of sticky paste and wouldn't even break apart on my chip it was so sticky. I got a huge clump in my mouth and thought I was going to puke. I decided to just stick with eating the chips, but of course they were stale! Literally stale. I honestly couldn't believe it and there was NO WAY I was about to pay $8 for that crap!!! The ONLY reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because the server was very nice and didn't even seem irritated that I didn't want the food anymore and never charged me for it. Our server Emily was the least attentive staff I have ever seen. First we sat down and and after 10 minutes or so she finally walked by and could get her attention. We placed a drink order asked about the night food menu and if they still had chicken stew out. Said she would check and be back. Reasonable time later She brought out drinks and said no stew we had to ask for her to bring us menus. Another long wait and she brings just one menu. It didn't dawn on her when we ordered drinks and asked about food to just bring menus to us with our drinks? We order get our food and don't see her again for at least 20 min. Mind you we had both long finished our drinks and had spent at least 10 minutes debating whether we should just walk out since she obviously didn't want our business. read more

Hamlin Pub gets four stars for food (considering its a bar and not a high end dining experience) and zero stars for service. I enjoyed my food and was happy to see their gluten free menu was extensive (I am not GF but have friends/family that are). I ordered wings with an Asian ginger glaze which was delicious. But the service killed me. I was attending a bachelorette party. Their private room was rented out by the party. There were about 20 of us and there was only one waitress dealing with us the whole time-seriously? I don't know if this was a decision made by management or if someone didn't show up for work, but the waitress serving us seemed completely unaware of how swamped she was with requests or how behind she was. There were no apologies with how long the service took either. By the end of our time many of us in the group were dreading that we only had credit to pay for our bill because we didn't want to wait 10-15 minutes for our card. Yes that did happen. Unless someone decides to have a social gathering that I can't miss out, Hamlin Pub won't see me again. read more

We've been here a few times, food is ok. Service depends on the day. Today, I ordered the Lenten lobster roll, don't waste your time. Too much Old Bay or some sort of salty seasoning. But we also learned today that they don't have happy hour pricing on everything at the bar. $7 for a glass of wine is pretty steep for a bar, especially during happy hour. Keli from the catering sevice is absolutely a pleasure to deal with. We just had a catered event with the WORST servers I have ever had. Christina acted like she was pissed off at us for showing up. Worst service imaginable, zero personality and very rude. If you don't like your job stay home. This was a major birthday party and the servers did their best to turn this into a miserable evening. Fortunately the customers were a little more upbeat than the servers. Will not be booking anymore parties here. The food is decent and our server was nice enough. The negative comment we have is that our server didn't inform us that on Wednesdays their special is a Burger and Beer for $5.99 which included a 1/2 pound burger, fries and a beer. We weren't aware of that so we ordered a basket of 6 sliders, one order of fries, a bottle of beer and a glass of wine which came to $25.00. When we mentioned this to our server, she said "I'm sorry". The bottom line is that we paid twice as much as it would have cost if we each ordered the "special" of the day. I have been going to Hamlin Pub for years. They place a coupon in the local coupon books. One of the coupons is for a extra large pizza one topping for $10.99. I have purchased this pizza as a carry out many times over the years. I returned home after an extended trip out of town. I ordered a pizza gave my credit card to the bartender and was given a slip to sign in the amount of $12.07, when asked why it was not the correct amount of $11.65 ($10.99 plus 6% tax) the male manager came out and told her to refund me the 42 cents. Yesterday I ordered the same pizza, and before I gave the bartender my credit card I asked for the price. When the price came to $12.07 again I asked why. A very rude and defensive female manager came out after my pizza sat next to me for several minutes, and told me there was a 40 cent carry out charge which she had done the calculation on the slip to show it should have been a total of $12.04, and that they have always had a carry out charge. I then asked if there were taxes on the 40 cents and she said no, so I proceeded to ask her where the the extra 3 cents came from. She asked if I would like her to refund my three cents. No where is there a carry out charge on the bill. I will not return to Hamlin Pub to be treated so badly. I just expect a business to properly disclose any hidden fees up front! I wonder how many times I was cheated when dining in at Hamlin Pub when the bill is not as simple as a one item order!!!!! read more

I have gone Hamlin since it has opened and it is not the same bar since it opened . Service is good band is good but mixed drinks beware they do not give the alcohol you are paying for and I have told them and they fix my drink but that isn't the point they cheat you and I don't feel that is right and it has happened for years I will never go back!!! Marcus the bouncer is awesome great guy biggest selling point. read more
