A full house enjoying The Ronni Ward Band

Jerry's Bait Shop is an awesome hole-in-the-wall tucked away in a quiet area of Lenexa. While it may be tiny, it really packs a punch. Each time I've been there, I've had more fun than the last. The live music is fantastic and no one is shy to get on the dance floor. People are friendly and it is easy to mingle. And the place draws a reliably good crowd - by 9 PM, the place is hopping. The drink prices are exactly what you'd want them to be, and they have a limited food menu that primarily consists of pizza and calzones. I highly recommend "The Bones" - for $9.99, you get a huge plate of what are essentially "stuffed crusts" - yummy dough around mozzarella cheese. It is delicious. Jerry's Bait Shop will certainly be on my regular rotation.

Awesome old school type bar. Sat at the bar and the bartender was a super cool dude who always has a smile on his face. Great service, cold beer, patio area and live music. Definitely be going back.

Jerry's BLT and tots - just okay

So, maybe there's something I'm missing. I mean, my fellow Elite Yelpers all seem to love this place, and I respect their opinion. However, during a recent visit for lunch last Friday, I found myself struggling to give Jerry's even 2 stars. The joint has a certain dive bar charm, situated right on the strip in Old Town Lenexa, with a menu that offers the typical bar food fare and then some. The pizza buffet seemed to be pretty popular, but with several large groups of particularly hungry looking dudes ahead of us, we knew pizza wouldn't be in our immediate future as they were already struggling to keep it stocked. So, let's talk about the service. The bartender, who was also working the floor, was friendly and doing her best to keep things flowing, but she just couldn't keep up with the groups of 6 and more that kept showing up ready to eat. Soon, there was a good size crowd, making her swamped and overwhelmed. Understanding she was in over her head, we tried to order simple - the BLT and Hot Italian Beef sandwich, but those proved to be too much, taking almost forty minutes to arrive. Refills on our drinks? Yeah, never happened. So, what about the food? The BLT was nothing special and came with a side of instant regret. I know that seems harsh, BLTs aren't that hard to mess up, but Jerry found a way. Billed as "a house favorite, triple decker sandwich on Texas Toast, piled with bacon, lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese," it didn't seem like I could go wrong with this pick. I'll just say it was a little underwhelming, with just four pieces of bacon and one piece of lettuce between each slice of bread. They did good on the tomato slices, so there's that, but it wasn't enough. Don't even get me started about the unmelted shredded cheese thrown on top like it was some sort of distant Taco Tuesday cousin. If bar BLTs are your thing, check out Maloney's or The Peanut who both seem to consistently get it right! The Hot Italian Beef was more like a lukewarm, over cooked roast beef sandwich. It wasn't even picture worthy. I'm not trying to be mean, but you can visit Arby's and get their French Dip sandwich, which is cheaper and tastier. I don't mind waiting for my food, especially in good company, but the longer I wait, the better I expect the food to be. I may not get the appeal of Jerry's, but one thing I do know for sure, I won't be missing it anytime soon!

1st timers here and not knowing what to expect with a name like Jerry's bait shop for a bar/restaurant! What we found was a friendly place with customers having a good time eating and drinking. Nothing fancy here, more like a fun dive! Loved the original old building with great original wood floors and the sounds and feel of the train that went right by a couple of times!! We had the thin crust pizza, The Kahuna, and it was delicious! Lots of toppings with just the right amount of sauce and cheese so as not to take away from all those flavors. To make it even better, the pizzas were half price! We had good service, good food and a good time. If I had one thing to critique it would be that the music playing (not a band) was a bit too loud for me.

$3 Sailor Jerry night!!! Trick or Treat!!

Awesome night spot. Went a few wknds ago on a Fri night. Don't remember the bands name but they were fantastic. A lot of retro stuff. Cramped inside, but that's to be expected with a live band there and it actually didnt drive me insane like most places would. Everyone in there just seemed very friendly and wanted to have a good time.

    This could be YOU!

But you're coming for the beer, and the beer is really great. Limitless has gone from a location in a light office park to its own standalone building, complete with patio and plenty of space. There are generally half a dozen or more of their own craft brews on tap ranging from IPA through porter/stout. You may have even had some of their flagship beers elsewhere, such as JoCo Juice, a hazy IPA or Rolling in the Deep, a double New England IPA. I myself go for malt over hop, so I find their Marzen to be one of my favorite beers. If they have their Mexican lager on tap, then I also suggest sampling that as well. A flight of four runs you $14-ish and is a great value, as the sample sizes give you plenty of opportunity to really get a feel for their offerings. If you find something you really like, then you can take four-packs home to go in cans. Limitless is open almost every day, at least until 7:00 and when the weather is nice, the patio was a must do. There are frequently people playing a board game or just enjoying the space, and while I don't want this to be just another noisy space, they could do with maybe a TV or two more. But that is just me being picky and since they are in the neighborhood, I like visiting whenever I can.

It's a smaller, simpler cocktail menu and the prices are very fair compared to other cocktail spots. I tried the Caipirinha (pineapple) and the Negroni sour. Both were good. My favorite between the two was the Negroni. It had a pretty color and wasn't too sour or strong. I'd def recommend it and get it again. Definitely stop in and check out this cute spot in Shawnee.

Second I tried the Neo Cosmo (white rum, strawberry, cacao, coconut, rose hip, lime, bubble) which was good and was a fun drink with an ice cream shaped cup and a bubble on the top (meant to look like an ice cream cone). The chips and salsa were great also but the house Margarita was tiny but did have decent flavor. But I got the dinner quesadilla with chicken and it was a sad meal. There was actually more sour cream, lettuce and tomato on the plate than quesadilla. I got four medium sized triangles and one had hardly anything in it. It was supposed to come stuffed with rice and beans (per the menu description) and there might have been a trace of each triangle. The chicken was pretty dry and flavorless and the only saving grace was being able to dunk it in the salsa that came with my chips. A full quesadilla should be at least 6 rectangles and have plenty of filling. For almost $15 this was extremely substandard. The bartender was running around trying to serve a lot of people so I didn't bother to return it.
