I wish I had this type of experience from my primary doctor. I cannot express how grateful I am to have found such a capable doctor. Again, I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW WONDERFUL EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER HAS BEEN TOWARDS ME! I was a problem because of my insurance and where my wisdom tooth was located. which was basically at the lower jaw line and entangled w/the nerves; it had to come out at a hospital. IF IT WAS NOT FOR THE HELP OF THEIR AWESOME INSURANCE TEAM, I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THIS TOOTH REMOVED. IT WAS CAUSING ME TERRIBLE ISSUES; INCLUDING ALLERGIES, EAR ACHES & HEADACHES. Because MVOMS helped me fight my PPO insurance for a FEW MONTHS, I was finally able to have the surgery. I am scared to death of being put under & surgeries altogether. Dr. Dentico-Olin put my mind at ease. Once we met at Sharp's Hospital, they took me to a room with at least 10 people in it and was put to sleep faster than I could say my full name. When I came to after surgery, I was told everything went smoothly. They told me it was my choice to stay at hospital or go home. I chose home as I fear hospitals. I am still recovering as the tooth was actually embedded deeper than we first thought and was practically a part of my lower jaw! We are now waiting for the bone tissue to grow back into the lower jaw. I am still recovering, 2 1/2 months later.

My actual procedure went very well and Dr. Olin is amazing.*** I had my consultation appointment with Dr. Olin on November 3, 2025 after he was highly recommended by my orthodontist. My consultation included imaging and then 45 minutes of face to face time with Dr. Olin where he explained the plan in depth. I was told that everything would be sent for authorization. I called the office on Friday, November 21st to follow up as I had not received anything from my insurance. I was told by the front office that I needed to have the orthodontist place the palate expander prior to scheduling surgery. This was an error and they were going to check with the doctor and call me back. I never received a call. I followed up 2 weeks later and I checked-in with my orthodontist. I called again and spoke with Brandi, who was handling my auth and scheduling. She let me know the paperwork hadn't been signed. Okay, it's the end of the year, I get it. I told her my goal was to schedule and follow through with the procedure ASAP. I called again after Christmas and spoke with Brandi. No update. I expressed that this was frustrating and I understood that it was not her fault. She agreed that she would also be frustrated. To make a long story shorter, my orthodontic team needed to get involved as there was minimal information and communication from Brandi. If I did call, answers were short and it sounded as though she may be irritated. I finally received auth in late January. Scheduling was just as difficult. Finally get a date scheduled for 5/21 and moved to 4/16, amazing! Pre op is scheduled for 4/13. On 4/3, I called and spoke to Brandi to confirm and asked if we had further details, such as a time. No. The day of my pre-op, all goes to plan until I go to check out and schedule post op appointments. I was told I had a $1500 copay and that I should have been notified. I said I was not and that my copay according to my insurance plan was $0. I asked to see the documentation and the girl at the front desk didn't have it but was told that the insurance company said to collect this amount. I asked to speak to the office manager at this point and was told she was working from home that afternoon but she would call me. I paid the copay because I didn't want to risk losing my procedure date. I called my insurance company immediately after leaving and was told the copay was incorrect, that it was $0, and they had no documentation on their end stating I was to pay $1500. The rep called and spoke to Brandi while I was on hold and when he came back on the line, he said immediately asked if I knew a Brandi. I confirmed and he let me know he had to tell her she could not charge me the copay and that the comment "She should be thankful because she's getting a 60k surgery," was made. He let me know I she was going to void the charges. I called to confirm and Brandi picks up the phone and says,"I'm doing it now." No hello, nothing. I asked if the transaction fee would also be returned. "Yes," and she hung up on me. I followed up via email asking for the transaction receipt and proof of void, and let them know I was happy to pay any patient portion due and I would need to see documentation. I received the transaction receipt and no other response. Surgery came and went. All was well and when I came in for my post op, I asked to speak with the office manager prior to me leaving. I initially told she would call me but when I asked if she was available this afternoon and I would wait, I waited for a few minutes with my husband to speak with Christina. When we sat down with her, I asked if she was familiar with my case and what had happened. She started with "I understand your frustration is targeted on Brandi. ". She followed up with the fact that I had received my money back and it was an error. I let her know that I was really upset with the tone of the service I received and it was so negative that when I was asked by Dr. Olin to move my post op appointment, I didn't want to call incase I spoke with Brandi due to the poor interactions. When I mentioned what my insurance rep said to me, she said it couldn't have happened because she sits next to Brandi. Remember, she was out of the office that afternoon. Christina did not appear to hear my concerns and dismissively said she looked into it. When I seemed unsatisfied, she asked what I was looking for. I replied that I just wanted her to really hear me so that there could be improvements made. Again the answer was very dismissive to the point that I asked if I was even welcome back in the future. I may need another surgery and Dr. Olin is amazing. She said yes and seemed surprised. Long story short, I don't know if change will happen but I hope so.

But at last week's periodic dental appointment her luck ran out and immediate removal was ordered. However her regular dental office could not give her a Periodontist consultation until almost TWO months.....and after that ( in middle of the holidays) who knows when they'd schedule the actual extraction?? In this case of a really senior citizen I saw a possible matter of Life and death if infection spread to her sinuses or eventual septicemia. Fortunately her clinic gave me phone references of some oral surgery clinics. The first one I called didn't treat patients over 85. BUT we were SO fortunate that the Center for Oral and Facial Surgery offered her an immediate appointment !! Literally I called about 1 pm Friday and they offered mom a spot at 930 the following Monday!!!!! And this wasn't just a pre- operative consultation...but the actual extraction. Her luck continued getting DR. TAYLOR.... young, sharp and current with modern dental practices. He also handled mom really well psychologically to adjust his technique when she refused sedation at the last minute to only want local lidocaine numbing. In total the procedure took about 20 minutes! And I felt the pricing was very reasonable for the HIGH QUALITY of Dr Taylor's EXCELLENT care. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this excellent practice!

Also the dentist sexually harassed me when he picked up the television controller off my lap by pushing his hands towards my vagina area. He also yelled and screamed at me to shut up and get out of his dental office. I am a certified nursing assistant, and none of the nurses or me have ever treated a patient that way, whether on medi-cal or on regular insurance. Dr. Steven's actions at park blvd oral surgery is patient abuse and will not be tolerated. Me as a single mother of two children am disgusted with this dentist and refuse to go back to allow him to try to ruin my teeth or abuse me again. He's unprofessional and obviously uneducated in his field of work. I work full time as a CNA at a healthcare center and I pay taxes for dentist who take medi-cal or medi-care so he should have more respect and stop abusing the patients who are low-income thinking he is getting away with it. I'm a mandated reporter also.

Dr Machado performed a double jaw surgery on me in 2012 - thirteen years ago. I really haven't been able to put into words that he completely changed my entire life. I cannot express enough gratitude and thanks for being able to live the last 13 years happy with my face, after hating looking in the mirror for my entire life prior. Dr Machado is the single most pivotal person in my life after my family. No longer having my appearance be a daily negative factor in my life is best gift I could have ever received. Dr. Machado and his office fought hard for my parents to get the surgery approved through insurance, made a critical last minute decision to go for double jaw surgery instead of having to do two as originally planned, which was so amazing. He was available during my after care and I always felt like I was in good hands and that he was available should I ever need him... which I did a couple years later. My favorite experience was a year or so later when I came back in to get a screw removed - Dr Machado looked at my face and said something to the effect of "I could lowered the top teeth slightly more" - which is something I had considered in passing. I am more than thrilled with my face, its an absolute success by every measure and by any other doctor would be considered 'perfect' - but I am even more appreciative that Dr. Machado cares down the millimeters and scrutinizes your face just as much or more as you do. He is a true artist and a perfectionist. When you undergo this type of surgery you need to have someone you can trust with your appearance, especially in the trying times when you have to wait months to a year for the final result. Dr. Machado is someone who can and will deliver that for you. Thank you for completely changing the entire direction of my life. Thank you for giving my the self confidence I never had. The reality set in that I couldn't hide behind my dental anxiety any longer. I reached out to Dr. McClanahan and set up an appointment. Even setting foot in the office was causing heart palpitations. I had no idea what to expect! I have read online that some dentists shame patients for neglecting care, or how some just don't care if you're anxious. My mind was full of all kinds of interesting thoughts and fears. I told him and his staff that I am anxious, and they treated me with extra care and explained everything along the way. After some x-rays and a consultation, I needed an extraction and some fillings! Yikes. It was kind of a shock, although I knew I'd need some extensive work. I also knew that my years of dental fear had finally caught up to me. Fast forward to today, and I have had my extraction and I just completed my fillings. Thanks to Dr. McClanahan and his team, their calming and reassuring attitudes, and the power of oral conscious sedation, I've had my dental issues resolved and I have made serious progress toward my life-long dental anxiety. I went in today to have my bite adjusted after the fillings, and I have to say I was not even anxious stepping into the office and hearing and feeling the adjustment of my fillings taking place. I've even scheduled my next cleaning. For once I am living pain-free and worry-free. I put it off for so long. I didn't know life could be this way. If you're like me, and have suffered with dental anxiety, just know that it sounds impossible but you can live a pain-free, anxiety-free life, thanks to Dr. McClanahan and his amazing team.
