We came here for a cleaning and my husband got his tooth capped. We were happy with the cleaning. The dentist was very nice. He wanted to sell us a bunch of more things but no. We just got the cleaning. My husband's tooth had broken and they repaired it, however, the next morning, it broke off. It's not easy to have to go back into Mexico and get this fixed. My 5-STAR Review! I am a 58 year old woman from Oregon. I decided to go to Tijuana to get my dental work done after I was quoted $25,000 - $50,000 to fix my teeth in the States. A process that could take over a year. I was missing six teeth, I could no longer chew most foods, my bite was off and I was miserable. I was told by several people to skip Tijuana and go to different parts of Mexico. "Tijuana is dangerous, etc." Well I am here to tell you differently. When I had made my decision to go to Tijuana I started to research dentists. I made several calls and left messages. I came across Dr. Ignacio De La Vega. There was something about their website that made me feel comfortable. I called and immediately spoke with someone who spoke English. My frequent questions were promptly answered via email and telephone, the prices were more than fair. It didn't take long for me to decide De La Vega was the dentist for me. That is an understatement. I explained specifically what I thought I needed and asked if they could do it within a weeks time. They told me they could so I booked the appointment and the trip. Dr. De La Vega and his son/parter Carlos, who did all my work, referred me to two hotels within walking distance of their office. I chose the closest one, the Hotel West Plaza. It is a very nice, affordable, clean, full service hotel, with a spa, gym and restaurant with room service. It perfectly suited my needs and it was only a block and a half from the hotel, on the same street. No taxi's needed. Not only was the procedure pain free, it only took four days. Monday, they did all the work, gave me temporaries, and sent me on my way until Thursday when my final teeth would be ready. My new teeth are perfect. They look and feel real. I am beyond words at this point. I feel like a totally new person and I owe it all to the whole team of professionals at Dr. De La Vegas office. Everyone was professional, knowledgeable, gentle and they were fun to work with. My daughter met me there from Los Angeles and we had the best time in Tijuana. We shopped, we ate at fabulous restaurants, but mostly we walked around taking in the culture and our surroundings. You have to be safe wherever you go but I truly believe Tijuana gets a bad rap. Dr. de la Vega finished all the work detailed in my 1st review 2 years ago, everything was wonderful... I recently returned with a broken tooth, and I was so embarrassed because I hadn't had a cleaning or check-up in so long, but needed to have the emergency taken care of. I thought he wouldn't remember me, but I was so wrong... He walked up to me anticipating my arrival, and gave me a very warm welcome: "Always with a smile!" I was so surprised... And of course I always smile when I walk into his office; it's the only dentist's office in the world I'm happy to be at, because everyone is so genuinely kind. As in the past, Dr. de la Vega took excellent care of me: He examined my teeth carefully while taking x-rays, and I was expecting my broken tooth to receive a root canal, however, after telling me he was expecting to do a crown instead, he consulted with his son for a 2nd opinion, and changed his mind... Instead, I only needed a filling! What a pleasant surprise. This saved me time, money and pain. I told Dr. de la Vega that the only thing we hadn't completed from my wish list, was straightening my teeth... I've had buck teeth my entire life. He came up with an idea: Shave the longer tooth down, and it will create an optical illusion, so the teeth no longer look too large. I've attached photos so you can see the outcome, and it took me so long to get used to the new look... I kept glancing in the mirror forgetting he had done this, and it would shock me over and over again to see myself! By doing this he saved me more pain, more money and more time, because now I won't be using Invisalign. The only bad news is that I have a molar with a cavity that has to be pulled, and it's going to take oral surgery because it's impacted, but he's only charging me $225! This would be at least $2,000 in the U.S. I overheard a couple at a restaurant talking about how the boyfriend is dissatisfied with his dentist and is going to find a new one... The girlfriend complained about another friend having to pay thousands of dollars to have her daughter's wisdom teeth removed. That's when I knew I had to interrupt, and tell them about Dr. de la Vega; the man believed me (I showed him my pictures) and promised me he's going to read these reviews. I've been telling everyone! And I already know from past experience, that when I do have the wisdom tooth removed, it will be as painless as possible. There is not much I can add that hasn't already been added about the dental experience at Dr. Ignacio de La Vega's office. The man himself is warm and charismatic and honest. His staff is top notch; they are all professional and friendly and welcoming and humble. I mean, they are truly grateful for your business. The doctor is one of those people you find yourself admiring and not at all feeling jealous of his success. You embrace it as he does you, not just as a client, but as a family membere. I went to Dr. Ignacio's practice this last week to get my teeth fixed. I had never travelled to Mexico and while I can speak a enough Spanish to get by in a restaurant, I am not great at understanding it being spoken. I did quite a bit of research before I left and based on all the very positive reviews and location, I felt this practice was my best choice. The first thing I wanted to get out of the way as a first timer to TJ is I felt safer in downtown than I do in places like San Diego, Seattle, Portland and even my hometown of Reno. This office was something like a 10 min walk from my hotel and if you really wanted to, you could literally hop off the trolley in San Ysidro and walk to this place in about an hour and a half. The second thing is everyone I encountered there, from the front reception, to the Dr's and assistants are all incredibly professional and friendly. Literally the most hospitable medical professionals I have encountered and Dr. Ignacio himself is a Rockstar. I've never seen a Dr. walk into his practice and stop to greet the patients and staff in their reception area, especially with the positivity he exudes. Kind of like what a good front man does for his band. His son, Dr. Carlos, who was the main Dr. treating me was also a very friendly, well spoken and considerate and did fantastic job fixing my smile! The procedure I needed to have done was 2 extractions and a dental plate. I have to be honest and say I was not taking good care of my teeth and from years of cigar smoking partying when I was younger, I had a gross buildup of tartar and plaque. The dentist I see here in the states had dissuaded me from getting the bottom teeth cleaned because of the bone loss and told me there was a good chance I would lose some of those teeth if I were to do so. This ended up not being true as Dr. Carlos got them clean and shiny after some work and not a single one even wiggles. I tell you, from the time I entered the chair to walking out with my temporary plate was about 3 hours; and I am talking about the consultation, the impression for the plate, the extractions, cleaning and polishing my teeth and fitting the plate. In the US, this would have been probably 3 or 4 separate visits, with a co pay for each one to maximize the amount of money they can get from your insurance. Forgot to mention that a number of the staff are bilingual so I had no problems communicating and even if I were to include the plane ride there and back as well as the hotel it was still so much more affordable than doing it back home. I can't thank Dr. Ignacio, Dr. Carlos and everyone else at this dental practice enough, my teeth haven't looked and felt this good in probably 20+ years! read more

Dr. Ignacio and his son are the most empathetic, honest, and skillful dentists that I've ever met. While all other US dentists insisted on getting the crown down which would've hurt my finances, his son was able to construct the filler perfectly (my original filler from 10-12 years ago came out so the tooth was already carved quite a bit so it was difficult procedure). Saved tons of money. They have English speaking staffs that always picks up their phone immediately and their office was clean and welcoming. I needed an extraction, two bridges and some bonding. A San Diego dental office quoted me over $8000 for everything. I saw the younger Dr. de la Vega and over four visits in October and November of 2025 and I got everything done for less than half that cost. He is extremely fast and meticulous at the same time -- and fully fluent in English and Spanish. The office has four chairs and combines modern computerized equipment with a full lab upstairs where they can render the temporary bridges while you're there. There are a lot of support personnel making everything run smoothly and quickly. The street outside where it's located may look a bit run down, but inside, the clinic itself is modern, efficient and high quality. It's right downtown just 2 blocks from the shopping street Constitucion and 3 blocks from party street Revolucion so it's easy to get to whether by foot (45 minute walk) or by taxi (15 minutes and $10) from the US border. read more

I had 3 implants and one bone graft at this office over the past 5 years. I've never had a problem with any of the procedures. It is a modern office with very talented specialists. Every time I am there I see patients coming from far away, like Colorado or Washington states. Local TJ residents also frequent this office. I live 500 miles away in San Francisco area and it's always worth the trip. They also assist me with forms for reimbursement from Delta Dental of California. (You pay as you are treated by cash or credit card and then you can seek insurance reimbursement.) I often see other Americans in Mexico seeking dental work and those that are going to other offices are paying much higher prices. I highly recommend this office. after receiving an unreasonable quote from a san diego county dentist, i was recommended by a friend to go to tijuana for my dental care instead. i was overwhelmed because i know there's so many dentists there and it was hard to figure out where to start, but i landed on dr. de la vega after a bit of searching and decided to take a chance. i booked about a month in advance but i'm pretty sure they had plenty of room for earlier appointments. i needed a VERY deep clean (about 15 years since my last cleaning) along with a root canal cleaning in one tooth, a crown, and several fillings. i was able to do the consultation, xrays, and half of the work in my first visit, which was unexpected but very appreciated. i'm used to american dentists that want you to make multiple appointments at multiple different clinics over several weeks to get work done, but dr. de la vega's staff was able to get almost everything done in the same building on the same day. the consultation and xrays were also free of charge. the total for everything will land me at about $1300, which is such an improvement over the nearly $5000 i was quoted by american dentists. he will also provide a 10% discount for cash payments, but i didn't have that much cash on me. i believe this office also accepts some american insurances, so your price could be even lower. i spent about 4 hours there, with most of the time being spent on the root canal and crown, and i'll be returning next week to get the crown installed and the rest of my cavities filled, which probably won't take very long. the pain after the procedure was minimal, and plenty of anesthesia was provided during the procedure whenever i needed it. they even offered it for the cleaning if i felt too much pain (but there really wasn't any aside from a bit of the sting near the gums). they reassured me that i'd only feel pressure and a slightly sore jaw during the root canal and they were 100% correct. really the only pain i felt was a small bit of tenderness afterwards that a little ibuprofen cured. i tend to avoid dentists partially because i always leave so sore, but dr. de la vega's doctors were very gentle and precise. the inside of my mouth feels so much cleaner already, i feel like i can really start over and stay on top of my dental hygiene now. we were always lacking the money needed to do regular dentist visits as i was growing up and eventually my teeth felt so unmanageable that i wondered if i could ever get a handle on it. as an uninsured broke american, the difference between these doctors and the ones back home is like night and day. the office is a convenient 30-40 minute walk away from the san ysidro border crossing, so if you want to visit i highly recommend skipping the car line and just walking across if you're able. i crossed the border going into TJ at around 7am on a monday and encountered no line at all, and the way back to the US at around 3pm was a very short line with minimal wait. it goes without saying that the staff there speak english, so communication was not an issue for me. i'm looking forward to completing my work next week and i'll definitely be recommending dr. de la vega to anyone who asks. he seems to understand very well how nervous people, especially americans, can be about dentists and he treated me with much patience. read more

I spent 6 months researching and 9 trips into TJ just for consultations with the best/top-rated/referred dentists. The dentist I was most comfortable with is Dr. De La Vega. I needed extensive work after a bad accident including several implant, multiple crowns, a root canal + more. Dr De La Vega went over each proposal from the previous consultations, why he agreed with them, or what specifically he didn't agree with. His price was approximately 1/4 of my San Diego and Los Angeles price quotes. The work is absolutely perfect, and was ABSOLUTELY 100% PAINLESS. His team of specialists, especially his son Dr. Carlos De La Vega, are nothing short of miracle workers. I have a debilitating fear of needles and drills and their patience, understanding, and skill at making every single moment pain-free is something that every American dentist needs to learn. They even saved a tooth that I was told needed to be pulled previously. It's now been over 2 years since my treatment plan was completed and I have a perfect smile with absolutely no issues, I've been to 3 different California dentists for cleanings since and each said the dental work is absolutely perfect. When I started this process I did not know where to begin, I only wished I had read a review like this one. I cannot recommend this enough. My San Diego & Los Angeles price quotes ranged from $44,000-65,000...My Tijuana price quotes were $9,000-19,000. Dr. De La Vega completed my dental work at less than 1/4 cost of my California quotes, cheaper than 8/9 of the quotes I received from the top-rated dentists in Tijuana, but was hands down by far the best of all the practices I consulted in Tijuana. Everything about my visit was superb. The office location was convenient, right in downtown Tijuana. I booked a wonderful hotel (Hotel Grand One Plaza) two blocks away from the dental clinic, so I was able to walk right to my appointment directly from the hotel. All the staff and the dental clinic were very professional and friendly. Dr. De La Vega and his son Felipe (also Dr. De La Vega!), we're both very polite and professional and assured me that I would be treated like family while in their clinic, and I must say, they were absolutely right. Felipe went above and beyond to deal with my three cavities, and he even took an extra x-ray and offered his professional opinion on it to alleviate my concerns about some slow healing near some prior dental work that I had done elsewhere. I had three cavities filled, and the whole process, including drilling and rinsing and filling and solidifying, took about 45 minutes. Felipe was very efficient in his work, which I appreciate, because I don't like to sit in a dentist's chair for longer than is necessary. Another great thing was that this clinic offered a cash discount on the work that I had performed there. I took them up on their offer and was happy with the savings. The pricing here was very reasonable, especially considering the high quality work that they perform, and the relatively luxurious dental clinic that they have. Recently had 2 root canals, 2 crowns, some fillings and a cap. Had not been since covid. Excellent work at a fraction of the cost I was quoted in San Diego. Dentists are lovely people, son Carlos, Melissa, Dr. Camacho. I drive , it's 10 mins. Across the border and park at the garage on the same street. I live in US and was in need of dental work which my wallet can afford. after a initial e mails and the cost of procedures I made an appointment , and Aug 15, 2024 . Dr Vega was very friendly great interactions with every one in the waiting room and even in person welcomed me and inform me he will be with me shortly. when I was finally in the dental chair he visually inspected and give me an options and the cost of each options. before I know it His very pregnant associate start doing the cleaning and even start the cavity fillings , without X-rays taken , when she was done Dr Vega come back taken a impressions of my teeth for possible dentures and they send me to a nearby X Ray office to get a full mouth X rays. when that complete been told # 31 wisdom needs to be get extracted which another associate of Dr Vega start the procedure which it was intense and painful ,then send off with prescription of antibiotic and pain killers and the instructions and did want to see me next day. So it is very unfair of me to judge his dentistry skills since he has not perform anything but again his kindness and taking his time to talk to you was amazing he definitely could be a great used car salesman in previous reincarnation. My follow up on next day was pleasant , he fit me with temp partials and told everything looks great so I went back home .I have to call him after 5th day with due to still the pain and infections at the extraction location, he ask me to come back so he can check ,after 7th days due to pain and no dentist where I live ,willing to check the infections especially when they learn it was done overboard so I have to do the 8 hrs round trip drive he immediately see me said everything looks great healing fine it will take while to everything to get back to normal. Unfortunately never did and after many phone calls and this time not the mentioning extraction was done in Mexico, finally local dental office " Clinics del Camino Real " in Oxnard see me They take several x rays and informed me during extraction the Dr Vegas associate left tip of the tooth/ Bone fractions he also damaged the tooth next to it and inflammation is epic now not only the extraction site has to be cut open to clean what it is left ,the tooth next to it has to be extracted with a price tag of $1450 when I inform Dr Vega with the results and the Xray showing what is left and the damaged ,He ask me to come back. I would definitely go back if he was inviting me for a backyard BBQ and his amazing friendliness But his associates dental skill !.. You make that decision at your own risk read more
