For my sister's birthday, a few of us girls went here, because of a family member's recommendation. This small, cozy restaurant is hidden in the middle of 9th St. in Portland. It would be easily missed if you were just walking by. Inside there were a couple of small tables adjacent to the kitchen. The ceiling was adorned with tons of cherry tree blossoms. For just a little over $100 per person, the chef's initial courses followed by unlimited omakase, were an absolute delight. Our server verbalized in great detail, what regions of Japan all the different selections of fish came from. Even with the 2 hour limit, pacing felt very even and not rushed. Every single roll and dish was so fresh, delicate, and unique. Some of the fish items just melted in your mouth. At the end of the meal, the owner was so down to earth, took the time to talk to us, and offered to take a group photo. Overall it was a very beautiful experience. This was one of the best sushi places/experiences that I've had. I wasn't really sure what to expect for the Omakase portion but the steamed egg with Uni and salmon roll was delicious. I really appreciate that you have the opportunity order other things after the Micah is done. I thought they were going to be fillers but they tasted great and actually put new fish I've never had before on the map for me! Some of my favorites were - kanpachi - kome buri - ama ebi - salmon (I liked it more than the king salmon, maybe I have peasant taste) - toro The omakase was well thought out as you can see and we even enjoyed the miso soup. I think the price tag of $100/person can initially be steep but you can easily spend this much on these nicer orders. I was also worried they might drop the quality during the AYCE portion but it continued to be delicious and service was consistent throughout (there was another group of 13 people so service was a bit slow having to divide time between the rest of the restaurant and them). A small tight knit space but it is gorgeous inside. Was seated at the bar and my only complaint is the stools are too short for the bar. Ordered the sushi and sashimi combo which comes with chefs choice of 5 pieces of nigiri and 12 pieces of sashimi, a California roll, and a small bowl of miso soup. I would definitely recommend it! Great value for the price. Also ordered the samurai roll and the yellowtail jalapeño. Both were absolutely delicious. The rice portion on the samurai roll is a bit much but it is a box roll. The food was really great. When you go in, make sure to clarify if you want the Omakase menu ($110 per person/12 courses) or the regular menu (self determined price). It is a small location, so make sure reserve if you can. I went on a Wednesday and it was full, but not crowded. I imagine a weekend would require a reservation! The service was great--very quick. I felt we were well taken care of, and the waitress had really great recommendations. The only dishes I was close to disappointed with were the ones I chose myself. The crispy rice dish is a MUST. It was devoured at our table, and I honestly would've been happy eating that the whole night. They have a Yuzu soda which is a fun one to try, and very refreshing, but I'd love to go back at lunch to try their Genmaicha tea. All of their more common rolls (California, spicy tuna, rainbow roll) were consistently good. If you cooked/warmer dishes, the ocean crunch roll was recommended and enjoyed by the whole table. If you prefer simpler sushi, look through the combo options on the back of the menu too. It is very affordable in that regard! Overall, the experience was nice. We did the omakase, the first round of fish the chef selected was my absolute favorite part of the entire meal. Each piece felt intentional and beautifully prepared. Our group of 3 had a reservation at 6:30pm and we had to wait 15 minutes to get seated. They didn't really seem to be organized tbh, as I had to show proof of reservation lol. I've gone to other AYCE Sushi spots with similar quality and even more variety at a cheaper price, so I wasn't quite impressed. I figured the quality would be a lot better with a smaller selection, but not quite. While nothing was fishy, nothing was amazing either. The nigiris are on the smaller side, which is fine as we could just order more. It's a little slow to get our food, so I don't think we ate as much as we could have, having been waiting around. I had to flag staff down frequently for tea. One thing that kind of didn't sit well with me was that I wanted 2 desserts, and I was told "we usually don't allow 2 but we can do it this time", LIKE WHAT? Okaaayyyyy lol, sure.... What better way to start off 2026 than with AYCE omakase! I highly recommend making a reservation because this restaurant has very limited seating. The interior is beautiful with flowers hanging from the ceiling & a beautiful koi fish painting. They offer a sake tasting, but we don't drink so they let us substitute it with a yuzu soda & a white grape demisoda. We enjoyed the high quality omakase & their servers were extremely knowledgeable about what was being served. We started off with miso soup followed by 12 pieces of the chef's choice nigiri. After that a warm & flavorful steamed egg was served. Once we finished the streamed egg that was when the real fun started. We made our way through the all you can eat omakase menu which included must tries such as A5 wagyu, toro, scallop, ebi, uni toro hand roll, and much more. If I could give more stars I would. We stumbled in here after attending an event at the Moxy Hotel nearby. What a happy accident this ended up being! The menu had a large selection of sushi (a few vegetarian options which is what I go for) and plenty of fish options (obviously). The space is small, intimate if you will. There's probably 7 tables total. Each was taken when we arrived but they sat us at the counter (which had surprisingly comfortable padded stools!). It was decorated really nicely and felt cozy. The food was fantastic. The size of the rolls were great, especially for the price. Everything is made fresh, and we know because we sat at the counter and watched the chef in action. Everything came out as it was prepared, and my gosh was it so yummy! The star here is the service. I think we interacted with nearly every single employee and they were all so friendly, so welcoming and seemed genuinely happy we were there, despite how busy they were an hour before closing! While we were there we looked if they're on food delivery apps (they are) so not only will we be back but we will also be ordering delivery. Reservations for their omakase AYCE ($100/person). They do walk ins for regular menu but limited to bar seating and it was pretty busy the whole time we were there. *very limited space in restaurant, maybe 23 seats total? They start you off with the preset omakase which was (11 pieces) then you could order anything off the AYCE menu (with the caveat that each person could only order 3 pieces of the "market special" each per round). We stayed for 2 hours and ate many rounds of sushi - between the two of us we had 46 pieces of nigiri, 1 negitoro roll and dessert. We ate till we were mildly uncomfortable but didn't hate ourselves lol. The limiting factor being the speed of service but all the better that we had that to pace ourselves or I might've needed to be carried out. My husband and I went to Hamono for their AYCE omakase. The restaurant itself is really small so I'd highly recommend getting a reservation. We stopped in today at around 1pm and left around 3pm. The omakase includes three sake tastings as well. We started with some miso crab soup which was super delicious. Then the omakase began with assorted array of fish. The omakase ended with uni chawanmushi. After the omakase you can order from the AYCE menu which also includes items from the omakase. The fish is really delicious and staff were very friendly. We've been wanting to try this place out for some time now but it's been hard getting out with a baby. I still made a reservation and reached out to them on IG to see if I realistically could bring my kid in a stroller or if they had high chairs available. To my surprise, they said they had high chairs available. When we arrived, the table was ready with a high chair in place. The 4 of us did the AYCE omakase. I was really impressed with the food and presentation. The way it works is you get 13-15 pieces served in 3 different sets. After you finish, you can then order from the AYCE omakase menu. The AYCE menu has a lot of the nigiri that was included in the original set, so if there was anything you particularly enjoyed you could order more! There are also rolls and cooked food on the AYCE menu, which I thought was fantastic! Everything we got was delicious. Service was fantastic. Everyone was so friendly. The inside is definitely cozy. My friend told my about a sushi place in Portland that did Omakase and AYCE. I thought surely that she meant Omakase OR AYCE. Nope. She meant "and". It's too good to be true. Except it's all real. This is some of the best sushi I have ever had in the country. It is so good here. Everything is so extremely fresh. Nothing tasted fishy. And most importantly, the rice was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Perfect little toothsome grains of short grain rice. We got 13 unique pieces of delicious omakase, including the legendary A5 Miyazaki Wagyu nigiri, with the most delicious miso soup I've ever had which had king crab inside, and even a steamed egg palate cleanser with uni, salmon eggs, and scallops. Let me tell you, ordering all you can eat after an already delicious omakase is absolutely genius. The quality of the AYCE food was just as amazing as the omakase. The rolls were absolutely delicious and plump with fresh fish, and ordering A5 wagyu from an AYCE menu almost feels wrong. They limit you to 2 toro hand rolls (a must get if you ask me) throughout the night, and 3 pieces of the "premium" section per order. The premium section has king salmon and A5 Wagyu and other delicious expensive items. Like, do these guys hate making money? (I never said that please don't raise your prices) I'd say for $100, yes it's objectively a lot of money. But for this quality of omakase AND AYCE of this quality?? That's kind of a steal. So many great things to say about this place! Make sure to make a reservation if you want to do Omakase. It's so worth it. The restaurant is small but cozy. Go earlier if you can because it does take the food a while to come out, especially if you order yakitori. All the bites of fish were divine and fresh and everything we ordered after Omakase on the AYCE was also so good. Our server was so knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the fish we were eating. We did have one missing item that was given to the table next to us, but in his defense, we ordered a lot. Another thing I really liked was that they use real wasabi. I think that goes a long way to setting a sushi restaurant apart. The one thing that was a concern was that on yelp, the restaurant says it's wheelchair accessible, when in fact, it's not. There are two stairs in the front. However, you can't really beat the quality for the price. There were also 3 sake tasters per person included in the $95 omakase price. Made a reservation for 3 people with table seating and were welcomed into a cozy restaurant with calming ambiance. The omakase consisted of 14 courses (miso soup + 12 nigiri + steamed egg) including a 3-course sake tasting and ended with AYCE sushi from their entire menu, all for only $100 per person! The 14 course meal itself was already worth the price of admission: the fish was extremely fresh and curated with minimal fixings without being too overwhelming. And on top of that, we were able to order as many additional items to our heart's content, from sushi appetizers to hand rolls. The pace of food was a little on the slow side, but we didn't mind at all as the staff were extremely nice and patient, and at no time did we ever feel rushed.
