Really nice variety, and everything was super fresh, rice was nice texture. My favorite was the scallops, which were sliced perfectly. Also got to try two of the rolls, the unicorn and the sunset. Usually I don't prefer these really complicated rolls, but weirdly found the spicy oil on the unicorn really good. Lastly, got the uni nigiri, which was big and appropriately stinky, really enjoyed the shreds of wasabi that came with it too. I went with my husband and kids, and unfortunately my kids can be very loud and active, but I never felt uncomfortable at all. I wish I had gotten our server's name because she was incredibly kind, and the host was also so welcoming and friendly. Thank you for making us feel comfortable and taking such great care of us. Both were absolutely delicious. The king salmon was pillowy, fresh, and seasoned perfectly. Although, a few drops of lemon juice could have made it even better. I ordered the salmon and a side of rice. I am so glad I got the side of rice. The salmon was very small. It was grilled very well but also lacked flavor. There was a surrounding sauce to compensate but I honestly don't like sauces with a creamy base. After everything I paid $38 for a small piece of salmon and rice. It was pretty disappointing honestly. I know that the kitchen and culinary expertise is up there but the flavors and execution just aren't for me. I visited for a friends birthday so I didn't have much of a choice. It's very nice and clean inside and the staff is super nice and helpful. Always a good time at bamboo Sushi. I love the sustainability of the fish and only offering good for the ocean types fish. Sometimes the offerings are a bit too weird tasting though. Got the serves 4-6 middle option chefs choice and the green machine was good but some of the rolls were a bit weird. Including the crispy rice fish sushi I was warned that I probably wouldn't like, as my BILand sis didn't like it before and yup. I didn't like it either. Maybe I didn't like the eel sauce style drizzled over it but it was just a bit too much of something over fishy. I'm always happy and full leaving bamboo. Was super busy so we couldn't get our usual reservation on 23rd next to Salt n Straw so we had to drive over there and get our fix of ice cream next for the littles. lol read more

I had a really pleasant experience at Bamboo sushi. The atmosphere was very clean, quant and intimate. Even though it was busy, the restaurant didn't feel crowded or too tight. Loved this place!!! Their menu being primarily gluten free is what drew me in when it came time to find a space to eat that night. When I tell you that 95% of the menu is totally safe, trust me. I was not disappointed this food came out very quickly and it is served family style so dishes will come as soon as they are ready. Feel free to share with whoever you decide to bring here. After a horrific experience at Jake's Famous Crawfish, I went across the street to find sustenance and reprieve. Bamboo was the perfect place to go. I was greeted warmly by the host who was able to quickly set a table and seat me. My waitress was attentive and patient. The food came out quickly and was delicious. During our visit at the Japanese Garden a couple of weeks ago, our tour guide recommended that we try Bamboo Sushi. We were staying in Downtown & there was a convenient location close by. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed how clean and organized they were. They greeted us and seated us right away. Our waiter was Collin and he was amazing. Super energetic, attentive, and made good recommendations. We were there during happy hour (good amount of selection) so we ordered a few things for the table as well as a couple plates of sushi. This vegetarian food at this place is rude. I am a life long vegetarian and I always finish my food. I didn't finish one of my dishes because they were so bad. The avocado crispy rice was so gross, we ate two bites. Told them they could take it and they did. Didn't even bat an eye that we didn't eat it. Same with the vegetarian rolls I got. One roll was so bland and the other was too salty. The fact that every dish I ordered was picked up and taken back barely eaten and the staff didn't pick up on it or even ask if I liked it tells one thing. They know. Alas the only saving grace of this place is the Cauliflower. The only reason for the 2 stars. Also they shoved us in a corner and I had to sit sideways because I am left handed. I am actually thinking that I want to call them and ask for my money back as I write this. Seeing as no part of my meal was satisfying for the price I paid for it. Service was horrible. First off, when we walked in, we were hit by an appetizing smell that we couldn't figure out what it was. After being seated and chatting with the waiter, it turns out it was their genmaicha tea - calling all green tea lovers, order this! I started off with some miso soup as it was a chilly day and oh my, was the food delicious! I recommend the Tofu Agedashi as it had such a light tempura texture that we could have been fooled if you told us it wasn't tempura. Vegetarians and meat eaters will both love this. We had a winning combination of orders including the Sunset (crab and spicy tuna), Garden of Eden (spicy albacore and seared tuna), and Bamboo Dragon (shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, seasoned crab). It's pretty affordable for quality sushi, so definitely come here and make sure to get here early as it fills up fast. read more

What a wonderful lunch! Everything about this place was amazing. We had the nicest server that had great recommendations. I felt overwhelmed by the menu because I wanted to get everything but he helped me narrow down what would he thought I'd like. My friend ordered the Chicken Kaargae, Fried Rice and the Flower Power NA drink. It was all incredible and so fresh. It was refreshing to see an NA drink at a reasonable price and it was so unique! I ended up ordering the Tuna Tataki and the Chef's Choice Chirashi. Both were amazing but the Chef's Choice Chirashi blew me away. I've never had sashimi like this before. So first off let me say that I love love bamboo sushi, I've typically been to the Tigard location but first time in the location. So while the food and the service were top tier just a couple things to note about this location. When the place is filled with people it can be incredibly hard to hear the people at your table. The area is also slightlyyyyyy sketchy so just be careful to not leave bags in your car if you drove and watch for poop on the side walk (sorry but these are all true). We also came on a Tuesday and it was insanely busy ( not sure if this is normal or it was just a coincidence) we had a reservation thankfully but our food came out all at different times with half of our table eating at one time and then the other half eating at least 10-15 minutes later ( I wasn't super counting, but it was long enough for people to be done eating and waiting around after that). Also they have a great happy hour. So like I said love this chain, great food as always just some things to be mindful of. read more

This is a great sushi spot in downtown Portland, the food was great quality and restaurant itself was very nice for a date or dinner with friends. When we visited the resturant wasn't too busy but we still had a bit of a wait time. The staff was pretty accommodating to walk ins for a Friday night. We orders a ton of stuff from the menu to try and our favorite were the tuna truffle crispy rice and the bamboo dragon. All the rolls were great and pretty different from one another offering a good variety. The kitchen menu was also very good, specifically the miso glazed cod. I've had multiple great experiences at this location. The food is always fresh and made to the highest quality possible. My servers have all been kind and attentive to my needs. The interior is modern, clean and inviting. While the tight entrance isn't exactly my favorite, it's understandable given the area and space they have.
