I'm a business traveler and I stayed at a lot of different hotels. This place is clean, nicely appointed hotel rooms with fast WiFi and an easy to use TV with cable channels, no obnoxious smart tv. Plenty of parking and safe. Right off route 46. Liquor store across the highway. What sets this hotel apart is the Calandras Mediterranean restaurant. It's fantastic and a big step up from the average hotel fare. I enjoyed my stay, and the complimentary breakfast was very nice, with waffles, oatmeal, omelettes, cereal, bagels, muffins, fruit, etc. Nice outdoor lounge space at hotel too. read more

Comfy hotel that successfully hosted 7 wedding parties the week we were there. Rooms were nice and they passed my test of having sink and shower drains that worked. The kitchen staff worked hard to keep fresh free breakfast flowing, and the bar staff were friendly and fast with drink orders. read more

At first I thought this was going to be a great stay. The online registration and check out couldn't be easier. The hotel is lovely and the rooms are clean and updated. Unfortunately we stayed on Christmas Eve when the temperature was well below freezing. The hallway was warmer than our room, which stayed at 62 degrees all night. The heat wouldn't come on and since we checked in at nearly 10 pm and it looked like the thermostat was working we just went to sleep. I was freezing all night and when I tried to contact the desk in the morning no one responded. We basically ran out of the room then on Christmas morning because my hands were frozen and my back hurt from sleeping in an igloo. Never again. read more

Stayed for 4 nights with a wedding party so I really didn't research the hotel too much. The lobby is beautiful and was a much needed upgrade from older pictures I saw. The grounds were clean. The rooms were clean but there were quite a few black scuffs on the walls and one of the bathroom doors appeared to have water damage that was just painted over. Kids were pretty bummed the pool was full but "closed" and not going to be opened again. The restaurant was pricy but food was delicious. Our server was excellent and able to answer appropriate questions when asked about food allergies. We were grateful for the late night Saturday Happy Hour even if the restaurant closes at 10. Finally the front desk staff were AMAZING! I spoke with several people but Ryan mostly. They were able to help my family and I figure out taking the bus into NYC. Which is huge, we come from a city with very little public transportation. They printed and highlighted the bus numbers and routes and answered tons of questions. Fantastic experience! read more

This must be a relatively new motel. Very clean, large rooms, guest laundry facilities, work out room, free breakfast, The biggest surprise was a very nice restaurant off the entrance with live music and a bar. I can't say enough. Wish I had one of these in the other places we visit. read more

Hampton Inn Fairfield, NJ. Nothing better than a super clean Hampton Inn with a 5-Star restaurant inside. We were there for 5 nights in May and will be back again. Enjoyed the lobby Bar, especially at night listing to live music by Jimmy Sabini on his baby grand playing current hits and lots of Oldies. Calandras Restaurant is Amazing. I would absolutely return to this place. Stayed there during this past week for one night on business. The parking is ample, and I couldn't believe the site of all this lawn furniture around the outside. Must be gorgeous and really nice to hang out at in the Spring and Summer. You walk into the lobby and they have the restaurant seating area right there, and it's gorgeous. Check in was super-professional and quick... The room was just fine... no design issues or sloppy crap that should have been repaired 5 years ago... just a quality place. I was really happy that the window opened. I slept pretty comfortably and the only thing I thought was a little silly is the shower. There's this tiny 3" or 4" high curb keeping the water from leaving the shower, and it doesn't do a very good job. Plus, as nice as it was to have a hand shower in conjunction with the overhead showerhead, there was NO SHELF on which you could place your soap or shampoo. I'm like 51 years old already. I can't be bending over in the shower. I'm too old for that garbage. But I'm keeping it at 5 stars anyway because I so appreciated so many things about this place. This is a fine hotel located in Fairfield, NJ. The staff are friendly and accommodating and respond quickly to all requests and questions. The rooms, though a bit antiquated, are very clean. I love the large TVs in the room- however my one complaint is the connection to the cable/satellite service. It intermittently drops out at a not infrequent rate. This can be annoying if you're watching a movie. The restaurant is amazingly good, but expensive. Homemade pastas and fantastic fresh baked breads! Overall, a bit on the pricey side, but a great hotel! read more

For the record, I have stayed here probably sixty times over the years and used to book it without a second thought. However, several recent stays have totally changed my opinion and I no longer feel that it is of acceptable comparative value overall and will be staying elsewhere on my frequent business trips to the area. The hotel has been under renovation for a very long time, sorely needed, but they give no advance notice and the noise and constant workers coming and going create major hassles- and your pricing remains exactly the same, no break. This is, to me, frankly disingenuous. Furthermore, the restaurant pricing has soared via semi-captive business travelers, such that I can no longer justify a full dinner on my expense account. After all these years of loyalty, I have come to feel very taken for granted and will vote with my wallet by moving on. read more

During the storm last month my home lost power for a few days and PSE&G told us it would be out for longer than it was. I have a unique situation where my handicapped mother lives with us and I also have 3 kids under the age of 5 (including a newborn). This was the closest hotel to us and they had handicap rooms available. Before I continue, let me say that I lost the business card to specifically call out the two employees that helped us. I feel awful about it because I would of liked to specifically call them out here. First, from the COVID angle of things, the hotel was taking fantastic precautions which made us feel extremely safe in that regard. Obviously having a mother that is high risk and a newborn in hand, this was our first worry. The GM (i THINK his name was Mark) listened to our story about the handicap room and to some of the concerns about our mom. He took us to pretty much all of the rooms while being extremely mindful of contaminating anything. Our second worry is that we weren't sure how long we would need to stay there and typically when you order a hotel room you have to pay the whole time. He told us to book the room for the max time we think we would need to stay there and that as soon as our home has power we can leave and they won't charge us for the remainder of the time. His quote was something to this effect, "We obviously want customers but not due to a situation like this". I thought that was a quality thing to say. We went and checked the second room out that my wife and I were going to stay in and we noticed that the AC wasn't working (CRAP HAPPENS). We alerted the front desk, they told us it would be working by the time we got back to the hotel. We went home and packed up and got ready to move everybody to the hotel. By the time we got back, we were dealing with another sweet lady at the front desk (so upset I don't have her name) and she alerted us that the AC would not be able to be fixed that day so they upgraded our room and gave us an extra room that was conjoining at no charge. She was already informed of our situation and was so accommodating. The level of care, cleanliness, mindfullness of Covid, and fantastic customer service makes me sad that this hotel is so close to my home. I wish this place was anywhere else so that I could actually utilize it more than I probably will be able to. Will probably try to take the wife for a night away date night when life gets a little more normal. I probably wouldn't have to twist her arm too tight to do that because the attached restaurant is a Calandara's Mediterranean Grill. A bit pricey but GODDAMN it was good! I hope this review makes it to corporate. The staff you had there during my stay was top notch. read more

ROOMS/AMENITIES The rooms are large and comfy. Amenities include FREE hot breakfast buffet, FREE wifi, and FREE parking. Facilities include an indoor pool, a fitness gym, a small business center, meeting rooms, and a banquet room for special events. - Thus, this large hotel is excellent for business and leisure trips, especially for large groups. DETAILS YOU CAN SKIP My wife and I had an enjoyable, 2-night stay here, for a fabulous pre-wedding reception in its classy, gigantic banquet room, and for attending a wedding in the Westmount Country Club 12mi away. When we first stepped into this hotel, we were pleasantly surprised by its stylish, well appointed lobby, with a piano bar and lounge! The decor and spaciousness gave a high-end appeal, instead of a regular Hampton Inn brand. The reception staff was friendly and efficient. Our room was quite spacious and comfortable. It came with a firm king bed, a desk, a lounge chair, and a fridge, as well as a SAFE in the closet. The window had a partial view of a small garden below. The bathroom was adequate in size. It was nice that the bathtub/shower was equipped with a safety bar. FREE in-room WiFi. THE PIANO BAR AND DINING The area beyond the lobby is the charming dining area and piano bar. Daily free warm breakfast was served here, which was excellent. This charming bar/restaurant also served happy hour, lunch and dinner. We enjoyed a good lunch and a few drinks here The quality of the dishes and drinks were up to par of a good restaurant. Last Sat evening, there was a young lady performing at the piano, giving the dining room a romantic ambience! ELEGANT PRIVATE BANQUET ROOM The evening before the wedding, we attended an enjoyable, well organized reception buffet dinner here for 100+ guests in its large, elegant, banquet room (see pic) over delicious foods and drinks. ADDITIONAL NOTES Our wedding ceremony and dinner party were actually held on the 2nd day in a Country Club some 20min away. The hotel was able to help arrange for buses to shuttle guests. From the hotel to the Newark airport, the hotel helped arrange a stretch limo for us, which we shared with another couple with a toddler. Among us, we had a total of 10 pcs of luggages. For the 30min comfy trip, the fare including the luggages was $110 plus tips. This classy hotel is wonderful for business or leisure travel; excellent for special functions such as wedding receptions. read more

I stay here occasionally when I am in town on business. This is a nice hotel that is very comfortable. Rooms - Rooms are pretty standard as far as Hampton Inns go. There are some that area little dated but they are clean and comfortable. Service - Service is very good as I have always had a positive experience when staying here. The people that work at the hotel are quick to help Atmosphere - This hotel has a restaurant and full bar which is very nice. You can stay in and eat /drink and relax which is very nice. Quite please with this little roadside hotel. My good friend had her wedding nearby and the whole wedding party stayed here. Here is a list of the best things about this place: - price: quite affordable (especially considering many of the attendees flew in from the west coast) - gym: great updated equipment, much better than typical hotel gyms. Indoor pool/hot tub nearby the gym as well. - awesome restaurant in the hotel: we had the rehersal dinner in the hotel restaurant. I think it was Italian. Whatever it was, it was good, the food was plentiful, and the chef himself was there to help serve and answer any questions - friendly service! - bridal suite: Nice big room for the happy couple, pretty sure it was included for them since they hosted the wedding party there - shuttle service to the wedding venue: complimentary! this was so key! Nice big shuttle to take us to and from the wedding venue so there was no worry of transport/drunk driving (Russian wedding = lots of alcohol), etc. Of all the things a hotel could offer, this was the best. Most Hampton Inn's are a dime-a-dozen and totally indistinguishable from one another. Just a decent mid-level chain. Not the Hampton Inn in Fairfield. Without a doubt the nicest Hampton Inn I've ever stayed in: and am on the road 100 nights a year. The service was great with friendly staff everywhere. The lobby bar is gorgeous and there was even a piano-player, singer who was really good! A huge fireplace and tall ceilings, with plush furniture and a beautiful, full-service restaurant. Rooms were clean, well-appointed, and great value for the dollar. Definitely check-out this property if you want to check-into a great night's stay. read more

Wow. I had chosen this hotel as a back-up option for my wedding hotel block. Little did I know that I should have made it the primary hotel for my guests. After a horrible experience on the DAY of my wedding with the primary hotel, I had to make a last minute decision to get ready in this hotel. Mina (front desk agent) was extremely kind and courteous and was able to calm down the panicked bride in me. Since I had blocked rooms at this hotel (and even though none of the guests even booked rooms) she offered me a FREE bridal suite for the night. I know, AMAZING. The crisis was averted and we were all able to get ready in this hotel and be on our merry way to the wedding. I highly recommend this fantastic hotel. It has a level of customer service that is hard to find these days, especially in the chain hotels. read more

While a 5-star rating doesn't mean it is a high end resort such as the Ritz or Four Seasons, as a comfortable mid-tier lodging, this Hampton Inn is great. On the newer or recently renovated side, the rooms are spacious enough, the bathrooms have plenty of hot water, the beds are comfy. The downstairs area boasts a small bar in the lobby which also has many comfortable lunge chairs and a piano player in the evenings. There is also a large flat screened TV and smaller ones above the bar. The pool and exercise rooms looked great, even though I did not get a chance to enjoy either on this trip. There is a complimentary buffet breakfast in the morning. A little more than continental: Fruit, bagels, muffins, scrambled eggs, some kind of hot meat, cereal, juice. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff is very courteous. There is also a little mini mart for snacks inside as well as a complimentary "business center" where you can print out your boarding passes (not a true business center, but computers and printers available). Wi Fi is also complimentary. Parking is self and complimentary. If you walk about a quarter of a mile down Rt. 46 to the Hess station, there is a bus stop which takes you right into Port Authority in NYC for about $10 cash. While attending a wedding nearby, the couple had reserved a block of rooms so I had stayed here. There isn't much around there so serving as a place to crash post wedding festivities and drinking was A-OK. Rooms were clean, Beds are comfy, Caught the end of continental breakfast which was decent but nothing to brag about. Lots of parking out back, also a pool and gym but I was too hungover to take advantage. Check in, see some other wedding party bride in cowboy boots posted up at the lobby bar drinking beer out of koozies *shrug and shriek* pass out in room, wake up, eat breakfast, check out, peace out. read more

I travel a lot (I think) and some months I stay in 10 or more different hotels, and I try to stay in Hilton's just to keep my points in one place. So here I am in the Fairfield NJ Hilton for a night. It's convenient to where I'm working, the staff are very nice and accommodating, and the room is very clean and spacious, but it's dated..... I feel like I'm in my grandmothers house. The furniture and fixtures are all in very good condition and look ok, but nothing is very modern, at least compare to many of the other hotels I stay in. And I've also stayed in some other hotels in this area of NJ before and I had similar experiences, so who knows. So clean, yes, great staff, yes, spacious, yes, just not very modern. read more

I recently stayed here as a wedding guest (the bride and groom reserved a block of rooms). The hotel was clean, nicely decorated, and the reception staff were helpful, efficient, calm and pleasant. I'd like to call out one person in particular, Nadia, who works at the front desk. If she is not a manager, she should be. She was exceptional. I would strongly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the Fairfield, NJ, area. There was one guest let's just call her sally that was walking around without a mask saying she had covid 3 times and currently has it, also how she was getting a divorce and so on, later that day she had thrown a vase outside of her room and glass was shattered everywhere, we had to request for it to be cleaned up after it being there more then 30 mins (we left to get food and came back) read more

We had a 30 room block for our wedding this past January. This hotel was a rave for my guest being that they offered free hot breakfast and shuttles to and from our wedding venue. The staff was very helpful making sure all my guest were takin care of and they overextended themselves by allowing people to have extremely late checkouts. They displayed and handed out our welcome bags to our guest and everyone had a comfortable time. They upgraded many of our guest to suites for no additional charge. read more

It was the day after my brothers wedding and the refused to give us a lake checkout. Instead of being able to enjoy the morning with our family, we were ushered out of the hotel as if we didn't fill half of the hotel at 180 dollars a night. Also, I didn't eat the food but many of our guests commented how bad the breakfast was. Our shuttles to the wedding were old and run down and several were lost causing the wedding to be late. read more

I am a recent bride of the Westmount Country Club and had about a 45 room block at this hotel. After checking out the nearby hotels, we chose the Hampton Inn because we loved the lobby and it was honestly the best looking of all the hotels in the area. Now it isn't a 5 star hotel, these are all hotels off Route 46 in NJ so our expectations weren't very high, so that being said we were very pleased with the hotel overall. We opted for a breakfast the next day and luckily booked early enough to get Calandras to ourselves since we had over 80 guests staying. They provided a nice private breakfast which was an extra per person fee, a nicer breakfast than whats provided with your stay, and all our guests were able to hang out there for over 2 hours and talk about the night and catch up.. our suite was nice and roomy .. and after the wedding we all came back to the hotel to keep drinking (unfortunately I drank a little too much hah) but everyone really enjoyed themselves. They also provide shuttles to/from the venue with enough space for all your guests. my only complaint was I would have like to have a few different shuttle times for the guests missing the ceremony, but it all worked out.. I would recommend this hotel to anyone using the Westmount Country Club or nearby venues for their guests ! read more
