No complaints for a solid choice hotel just blocks away from the Convention Center. It's located on the edge of ASU's downtown campus and very safe. They had one microwave in the snack shop area, which actually had a surprisingly wide variety of healthy snacks and I was very tempted. Stayed here for the Regional Summit cheer competition, and the location was honestly perfect. It was about an 8 minute walk to the convention center, which made everything so much easier. Close to restaurants and everything else we needed. We flew in so we didn't have to worry about parking but I'm glad to know that there is valet parking available. The room was really nice, updated, and spacious. Breakfast was good, and the dining staff were all wonderful. The only thing I'd say is the front desk staff could be a little warmer/more welcoming. Overall, I loved how safe and convenient the hotel felt. I'd definitely stay at this location again. read more

I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact we didn't have any shampoo and our room wasn't serviced. Our first morning in the shower, we discovered the shampoo pump bottle was completely empty, so we washed our hair with shower gel (I'm sure it's all the same stuff anyway!) and made a request at the front desk that housekeeping definitely refill/replace the bottle. Well...after returning to our hotel room around 5:30pm, we discovered our room hadn't been serviced AT ALL. The bed wasn't made, trash wasn't emptied, towels not replaced, make-up wipes not replaced and...still no shampoo. We called the front desk and they delivered a new bottle of shampoo and fresh towels right away. OK, so we thought maybe they were still doing the 'Covid' housekeeping schedule, so upon checkout we asked if there was a reason our room wasn't serviced. They said it should have been serviced, apologized and said they'd bring it up with housekeeping. Not really the response we were hoping for! Here are our PROS and CONS for the hotel: PROS: -Convenient downtown location. We took the light rail from the airport and walked to the hotel. -Clean and modern. -Friendly staff. -Quiet. (We chose the top floor purposefully). Some minor road noise, but we took ear plugs. -Room equipped with all the necessities such as a mini-fridge, coffee maker, nightlight, iron. -Coffee carafes in the lobby. CONS: -We didn't get housekeeping service or have shampoo. -Breakfast could be improved with a few healthier options like plain yogurt and grainy toast. -Breakfast serving area gets jammed up on the side of the waffle maker. It would be better if they could utilize the bar in the breakfast seating area to spread out some of the food. -I'm not a big fan of the bathroom 'barn door'. -Large groups of cheerleaders staying for a nearby competition. COZY HOTEL w/ a NEAT LOCATION! The Hampton Inn is smack in the middle of DT Phoenix. It's about a 10 min walk away from the eateries and sports hub. Hampton has paid parking. Valet parking isn't required but it's inevitable if you want a seamless experience. Most of the valet guys were decent and brought our car out quickly. My bed was comfortable and the pillows were nice and fluffy. I thought the shower was nice and they had good conditioner! It was easy on my hair. The views in the room weren't the greatest, but at least we could keep an eye on our car in the valet lot. I appreciate the free breakfast which includes eggs, waffles, sausage, fresh oatmeal and juices/coffee. Although the breakfast could've been more flavorful, I accepted it for what it was. The lobby has a small nook with snacks and drinks, I spotted a microwave and frozen food too! I love the convenience of this hotel. Overall, service was solid. Alan was AMAZING, he consistently checked in and ensured our stay was great. The hotel was very clean and inviting. The only grump was some lady working the breakfast counter, she had a very unpleasant attitude. Other than that, I'd recommend this location. read more

Whether it's going to an event at the Phoenix Convention Center, visiting the ASU downtown campus, cheering the Diamondbacks on at Chase Field, or shopping at Arizona Center, Hampton Inn & Suites Phoenix Downtown puts you in the middle of action. Valley Metro light rail got me to the hotel from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, and check in was smooth. I got my key card and went to my room. My room had great views of the ASU downtown campus and beyond. The room was cool and spotless; the housekeeping had made the beds well and fluffed the pillows, and the bathroom was modern, bright, and clean. The water pressure in the showers was strong, and the towels were thick and fluffy--a great way to start the mornings. The beds were great for resting in the afternoons after coming back from long walks out and about town. The staff greeted me every time I passed through the lobby, and I felt welcomed during my stay. I often headed out at dawn to grab coffee from one of the many local coffee shops in the area. In the evenings, I was a short walk from excellent food in every direction. Tacos, burgers, pub food, and more--if you want it, you can walk to it. Great experience at this hotel. We arrived to town earlier than expected and discovered the event we were going to started at the same time as check-in. We showed up to the hotel at around 1pm and we were granted an early check-in with a room change, which was not a problem for us at all. We still got the exact same room we requested, just on a different floor, and the elevators were fast so it made no difference. We were also offered some cold, bottled water upon arrival. The valet and other parking garage options were a bit pricey, so we chose the on-street parking meter options, but it was ok because we could easily add time through the Park Mobile app on my phone. We used Lyft for our transportation options. Our room was very clean and everything worked properly and far as we could tell. Bathrooms were stocked with adequate towels, we didn't have to ask for anything, and I appreciated being located near the elevator as I am currently on crutches. Check-out in the app was simple and fast and we just dropped off our keys when we left and were offered bottled water again on our way out. We slept late so we didn't get to eat the complimentary breakfast, but we were exhausted from the event the night before. Would definitely stay here again. read more

Very friendly staff. This is downtown. Pls note that there is no self parking. You have to pay 42 usd per night for valet parking. I missed that part whilst making the booking. We were in the midst of moving so we had a dog a cat in tow as well as a whole truck of stuff. Epic morning having to deal with that . The valets were nice. It's a pet friendly hotel. And there is a pet poop station once u exit and turn left from the lobby. Breakfast was decent. And there is also a restaurant at the lobby for weary travellers like us. Hotel was very nice. In town for a cheer competition. Got upgraded to King suite which gave ample room to relax when we could. Bed was comfortable as well. My daughter wasn't feeling well one morning and the kind lady working in the breakfast area on 4/12 helped me with to go containers so I could take breakfast to her instead of trying to juggle plates in the elevator THANK YOU! Even gave me a nice cold bottle of water for her. Those extra touches made a difference! Breakfast itself, decent good ... not a fan of egg white fritatta though.... would be nice to have 2 options for cooked eggs. Otherwise my only issue is tv is not smart TV (no Netflix), no TV guide either so you have to scroll through channels. And hours after asking for toilet paper, we had to go down to get it. My daughter and I came to Arizona for a concert and decided to stay in downtown Phoenix, which can sometimes be hit or miss when it comes to safety and overall vibe. But this hotel was a gem! The Location We were pleasantly surprised. Yes, it's in a college area, so you'll see some nightlife breweries, bars, and restaurants but nothing felt sketchy. In fact, it was one of the cleanest and most welcoming downtown hotel experiences I've had in a while. Parking One thing to know: the hotel doesn't have its own self-parking garage. So if you don't want to use valet, it might be a bit of a hassle. But we opted for valet which was around $40-$45 for the night. That's a little pricey compared to other hotels I've stayed at (some are closer to $30), but it was worth the convenience since we were only staying one night. Front Desk & Check-In I arrived earlier than the normal check-in time, and I didn't expect them to accommodate an early check-in which is understandable. But the front desk staff were so helpful. They took my number, wrote down my name, and said they'd call once a room became available. About an hour later, they actually followed through and called me to let me know a room was ready. That kind of follow-through really stuck with me. The Room & Service Once we got to our room, I was honestly blown away. * Large, clean, modern..exactly what you want from a downtown hotel. * The overall ambience of the hotel was calm, fresh, and very well-maintained. * I called down to the front desk a couple of times with questions, and they were always responsive and kind. The staff also made sure we knew breakfast hours, where things were located, and offered help if we needed anything day or night. Final Thoughts This hotel really exceeded my expectations. From the impeccable cleanliness to the thoughtful service, it was just an all-around great experience. I stayed here for a conference at the convention center and the hotel was clean, close to the convention center, and easy to get to and from. We had four people stay at this hotel for a conference and each of us had a clean room and found the hotel to be in a great location. It's not a 5 star hotel by any means, but definitely comfortable and one of the better hotels I have stayed at while traveling. We had a rental car and the valet was super convenient. A little pricey, but I found it worth the price for the convenience. The hotel gym was also pretty nice - it had plenty of machines and enough variety in weight for the dumbbells that I got a good workout in. My one complaint is the kettlebell selection only went up to 18lbs, which is quite light. It would be amazing if they had heavier kettlebells (like up to 55lbs or higher). But that's a super nit-picky comment. The best part of this hotel is the location. It's within walking distance to the convention center and the ballpark. There are also tons of restaurants within walking distance. I have only one real complaint and that's the little shop in the hotel is insanely overpriced. I went to get an energy drink and it was $8 vs the $2.50 I pay at the grocery store. I get that they have to do a markup, but that is pretty crazy. The last thing I'll say is that I would absolutely stay here again. The convenient location for the price is unbeatable. read more

I haven't booked at a Hampton Inn in years. I stayed here for 1 night during WNBA All Star weekend and I booked kind of late. The rate was fairly decent compared to other rooms. The location was centrally located with the footprint center, convention center, and downtown eateries located within an 8-10 minute walk. The room was really nice and clean. The service upon check in was pretty good. Unfortunately my room wasn't ready because I showed up a few hours before check in. No big deal, so we dropped our bags off at the front desk and explored a little bit. The only thing that I did notice was that every time I needed to ask someone at the desk something they weren't there. I assumed they have cameras because someone would end up coming out of the back office. I thought it was interesting to have a tip QR code in the bathroom mirror. In town for a conference & their hotel was just a little too pricey so i stayed here. it's super convenient! i found myself walking or scootering around town. I had a car and while valet only isn't my first choice, they were quick to bring my car around every time. Compared to other 3rd party valet services, this was the best. 3 downsides- 1) I probably sound like a broken record in my reviews but when i travel lately, i go for EVs. Valet only makes it difficult to charge, plus the hotel itself didn't have a charging station. For being new & in downtown, it seems like a must have in 2023. I hope they're considering one! 2) The rooms were nicely appointed but as more and more hotels are switching from individual soaps/shampoos to communal, the scents are, um, rather masculine. Wish they'd get something different! 3) The shower head in my room was pretty awkward & couldn't be moved, without feeling like i was going to break it. Stayed here this past weekend and enjoyed the Hampton immensely. Already a fan of the chain, I love the free hot breakfast daily and customer service they provide. Happy to say I was not disappointed. This Hampton is centrally located in downtown Phoenix and even though it has on-site dining, there are many eateries and bars within comfortable walking distance of the hotel. Breakfast is offered from 6a-10a. I arrived for check in pretty early but breakfast was over unfortunately. The young lady who checked me in offered to check and see if there was any food left for me. I declined, but I really appreciated her offer. Awesome customer service. My room was on floor 8 of 11 and offered city (stree) views but nothing spectacular. The room was very clean and housekeeping does a great job here. I stayed here for a night only to leave the following day. I am completing an MLB tour and have always wanted to see the Diamondbacks play at home. The hotel is walking distance to Chase Field, wireless hotel check in, accommodating staff, complimentary breakfast, clean, comfortable and work friendly. I had a memorable experience staying at the Hampton Inn. I will be back the next time I'm in Phoenix. Valet for my car was $40 / night. It's about 15-20 minute walk to chase field or Downtown for awesome nightlife. I came in to watch the Dbacks play and check out their stadium. Had an amazing time and experience in Arizona. Hotel was clean and bed comfortable. But it is noisy at night due to location downtown and nighttime traffic. Also, customer service is really lacking for the late check in and early check out. The hotel manager Don was extremely rude to me and my son when we were checking out. He scolded me for opening a To-go breakfast bag for hotel guests as we were leaving the hotel with our luggage as if we were just ppl off the street. I have never been treated so rudely. Hotel front desk staff are not helpful and I had to ask for a bottle of water when we checked in at 11pm the night before. In PHX for an event. I guess we decided to come on the busiest day out of the year. From concerts to gymnastic events to NBA finals, this place is packed. We booked this hotel because we stay loyal to Hilton properties to maximize points. I was able to book a room through the chaos of everything going on. The hotel sits in a nice area of down town. The only spot to park close is valet. With everything going on, parking rates are through the roof so valet was on par and handy so we opted to park there. The valet dude was super helpful and gave us directions and recommends. We booked a handicap accessible room for our kid. The hotel was nice and upgraded us to a bigger room. We got a corner room with awesome views of downtown. The room was huge and super nice. The place is clean. The breakfast in the morning was good as always. Selections from oatmeal to waffle to eggs and bacon. Overall, our stay here was awesome. If you are in the area for whatever and need a nice place to stay for a rate that isn't through the roof, slide in here. read more

First off, when I write a review, I try to be fair. I have found that no place is 100% terrible, or the opposite -- 100% fantastic. With that out of the way.. Lets go! The Hampton Inn and suites Downtown is in a nice area. It almost seems like it is part of the the ASU campus. Building is nice too. For all intent and purposes, you have to valet park. That'll cost you $37 a night. You can street meter park, but the front desk girl said you have to re-up the meter on the hour until 10pm. Not a realistic option. The Valets are great! Led by Manager, Tony these guys bust their ass. Running about 2 blocks to retrieve your, and all the other cars. Thank you Tony, Ivan and all the other guys for the amazing job you do. Now to my hotel experience: My first interaction was with Jordan at the front desk. Not the way I wanted to start my stay, especially after driving 6.5 hours. Not friendly, and she just kept talking. I mean, asking her a question was tough, because she just kept on with her spiel. The room (214) was above average. The bathroom sink didn't drain properly, but that is minor, so I didn't say anything about it. Also, with everyone social distancing, there is no need to have anyone come and fix anything, unless it became a real problem. Now to the thieves and the aftermath. I checked out, paid my parking and made my way to the valet. Standing by the door were 3 people who may, or may not have been waiting for the valet. I had 3 bags. Suitcase, backpack and cooler. The valet came back with my car. He is a tall guy, about 6'4. I have a small car, so he had to unfurl his way out. I mentioned how tough it must be to be in such a small car. We had a laugh. Throw my stuff in my trunk and headed off. Fast forward a few hours, go looking for my cooler, and, voila, it is gone. I immediately contact the hotel, figuring I must have left it in the room, or by the front door of the hotel. I knew I didn't, but it is good too double check, Blake took my call, and after a few minutes on hold, came back and said he couldn't help me. He told me no one turned it in, and it wasn't in my room. I wondered if it possibly could have been taken when I was talking to the valet. And this is his exact response: (Laughing) Yeah, that's probably what happened. Come on now. I wasn't expecting tears, or a massive apology. But, laughing at a thief outside their hotel!! And ending with, "have a good day." This couldn't have been the first time this happened. Safe to say, I was and still am pissed off. So this is how theft is dealt with? Thanks for nothing. I have to take some responsibility, I get it. I should have been more aware of my surroundings. Still, getting my stuff taken as i was standing outside the hotel. Damn. I felt i was a good customer. Greeting the workers each morning. I also tipped the valets $5.00 each and every time I left the hotel. In summation: Hampton Inn Phoenix downtown is a nice hotel, but for my $$, going to a place that has very little regard for personal theft is not a place I would choose to stay at again. You will have a different experience, no doubt. Just be careful, and aware of your surroundings and it won't end like mine. read more

We were in town for the Taylor Swift Eras tour and booked a cheaper hotel before we got to this place. We booked the night before and thank goodness because we barely got any sleep at the (horrible, horrible) hotel the night before. Hampton Inn & Suites can to the rescue!! We walked in and was immediately greeted by front desk staff with such enthusiasm! We arrived at 11 and although check in was at 3pm, they allowed us to check in at around 11:20, which we were so, so grateful for! We left our car with valet after we unloaded all our stuff and were promptly given our keys to the room. Layla at the front desk was exceptional. She was empathetic of our previous experiences with the other hotel and was enthusiastic in engaging with us. She gave us water bottles right away also. Konnor at the valet was also nothing short of great! He always brought our car out promptly and he was by himself as it was Spring break for ASU and many of his coworkers are students. The rooms are clean and we got a nice view of the little patio/garden area from our 10th floor room. Breakfast is from 6am-10am which is pretty wide window to get breakfast, especially compared to other hotels that provide them. They had scrambled eggs, some kind of pork sausage that tasted like ham, red velvet & vanilla mini waffles (that you make fresh with the waffle iron), coffee, tea, hot chocolate, apple juice/OJ, blueberry pomegranate acai enhanced water, oatmeal, yogurt, and fresh fruit. They also provide chocolate and caramel sauce for the waffles or whatever else you might want to put it in. Overall, we had such a great stay. Hospitality at this hotel is great and we would definitely stay here again if we ever find ourselves back in Phoenix! This hotel is also in a walkable area surrounded by businesses and restaurants so if you're looking to have lunch or dinner, you can do so without your car. read more

Held hostage! We checked into the hotel the night before and were faced with a long line - 10+ cars for valet parking. Generally, very difficult to park on street because of parking meters, etc. The next day we notified the hotel 25 minutes ahead that we wanted our cars since we were hosting a family dinner at a local eatery. Our car was not available, and when the car was not available after another 20 minutes, we offered to take the keys and retrieve our car. They refused to give us the keys nor would let us know when the cars would be available. At this point we had to call an Uber to get to our destination. The hotel's management knew that the morning would be a problem, since it was a problem the night before. Nice hotel, but if you need your car forget staying here. read more

What a wonderful experience! The hotel is convenient to many offices and attractions, and the staff (especially Juan Orta) worked very hard for every guest. The arrival experience (from valet through check-in and going into our spotless and modern room) was excellent. We were on a high floor with a splendid view, and the room was spacious and quiet. Breakfast was bountiful and efficient, and check-out (including the valet!) was quick and easy, as well. The only drawback? $41 for valet parking (plus tips for every in and out) is a LOT of money for a Hampton Inn in an otherwise reasonably-priced location. I'm sure that the hotel costs (they use an excellent third party vendor) are this high, which leads me to believe that they are gouging the guests. Shame on you! Everything about the stay was delightful, but our first stay will likely be our last one, given the price of the parking. Beautiful and delightful modern hotel, steps from everywhere, but if you have a car, I'd suggest staying somewhere else. Sigh. The staff is attentive and friendly. The rooms are clean. However, those things, while nice, don't add up to a decent night's sleep. The noise from the street is unacceptable. I was a few floors up, and the sound of muscle cars peeling out, and LDE creeps' relentless bass-bumping noise literally shakes the walls every 10 or so minutes. The noise of cars driving over a maze of poorly-seated steel plates less than a 1/2 block down is *constant.* Constant, as in whenever the light on Van Buren changes. It essentially sounds like a parade of dump trucks with their tailgates banging every couple minutes. 1:45am: Still cars revving, blasting music, and clattering over the steel plates. It's been like this since 9pm. Little hope of getting anything resembling quality sleep. Our Conf group stayed here together and had a great time! The hot breakfast was good & there is also a restaurant/ bar. Marie went above and beyond to help me organize a team event in the lobby after breakfast was cleaned up. I couldn't have done it without her assistance. Tyra, at the front desk, was super friendly and very efficient when we checked out. The rooms were clean, spacious and the beds were super comfy. I will definitely stay here again. read more

Hampton Inn did not disappoint on our recent trip to Phoenix. The hotel is centrally located and we were able to walk everywhere. There are many bars and restaurants within walking distance. It's also within walking distance of the Diamondbacks Stadium. Room was spacious and clean, hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Just as an FYI, they are literally on the campus of ASU. School was not in when we were there, but I can imagine that when the campus is full of college students, the Hotel can get a little crowded. If you are looking for a place to stay to move in a student or parents week-end or visiting a student, this place is the place to stay. read more
