I'm not sure why I gave this place 5 stars, but my room was 1605 and it's in need of remodeling. It had a mini kitchen and was just old. On the way in, there were homeless people living underneath the underpass in the freeway. I mentioned in my last post, about the homeless. It's STILL a problem. So please be careful out here.

What a wonderful place to celebrate a birthday! I reserved a room for two in early October as a surprise weekend getaway for my partner's birthday. We hadn't really explored much of Phoenix, so I figured staying downtown would be a great start. We had valet park our car in their parking lot, and when we needed it back, we just needed to text them with a card they handed us the day of our arrival. It was super convenient and quick. The lobby was spacious and welcoming with light music and bright atmosphere, with plenty of chairs for groups to sit at while waiting to check in. The room was perfect for just the two of us, with a king-sized bed, couch, and kitchen area. While we didn't cook anything during our stay, it may be helpful to note if you'd consider making your own food in the hotel. There's also a large fridge where we stored leftovers, and were gifted a fruit platter in honor of my partner's special day (you must request this amenity a few days before you arrive- they'll charge you extra). The staff also gave us a birthday card with two small glasses of red wine. This hotel also has a check out convenient store in the lobby, a restaurant and bar, breakfast, an exercise area, laundry room, and an indoor pool. You will want for nothing while you are here, but even if you did, this hotel is placed right near downtown Phoenix where you can do bar crawls, ghost tours, and eat amazing, multicultural food. It's a place best suited for adults; there aren't many places nearby that are child-friendly. If you're considering staying here, know that the days are pretty dead but the nightlife is jumping! Some activities we did included going to Stand Up Live, a Star Wars burlesque show, along with dinner at Chico Malo and Pa'la Wood Cooking. If you ask me, Pa'la was the star of the weekend- I'm already trying to go back asap! Overall, Residence Inn at downtown Phoenix is an excellent choice if you want to stay right by the action, with a comfortable space to rest your head, and a team that is driven to make your stay unforgettable.

Coupled with the Courtyard by Marriott at the same property, the Residence Inn offers a high-value stay right in the heart of downtown Phoenix, within a short walk to sports facilities and many restaurants. It has excellent cityscape views from upper-level rooms, and the inviting high-ceiling dining area is stylish and comfortable, putting it on par with hotels at twice the price point. Service was friendly and efficient throughout, with quick check-in and -out processes, and the room itself was spacious and comfortable. Valet parking is available, albeit a little pricey, but the room rate more than compensates for that. My new go-to for stays in central Phoenix!

Place is great and stunning, least it was for me. I had no expeditions staying here since I was here for a commencement ceremony. Rooms were nice, smelt a little when we first walked in like someone just took one and left but after a quick frebreeze squirt good as can be. We did say we were having a baby with us and were disappointed that there was no sponge or soap to clean any dishes let alone our baby bottles. People were super nice though after we talked to the front desk.

Way to fix a problem. First of all Skylar at the front desk was a wonderful soul. The way she received my issue with so much style and grace was wonderful. Now if I just went with my issue I would have given the place a two. But nope! Skylar provided excellent exceptional customer service. My bedding wasn't the cleanest. I was like hold up did they even change my bedding from the last guest. I took my issue with the bedding to Skylar with pictures and she was very accommodating. Also, I think the floors need a deep cleaning. I am going to post my socks so you can see how a new pair of socks out of the package was dirty within 5 minutes. I also didn't like the Valet. I am going to be honest here I am a paying tipping customer and they acted as if I wasn't supposed to be there. It just felt like I was bothering them. I still tipped but not as much as I would have if they provided better service. The hotel comes with a breakfast. Shout out to the food and beverage staff and their hospitality. Now was the food anything to write home about? No! But I am big on customer service. How do you treat me. Treat everyone the same. I love their energy and their overall thoughtfulness. So, how did I come to my rating. Skylar by herself gets a 5. Room: 1 Valet:1 Food and Beverage Staff 5 Gives you a solid 3 Also, shout out to the General Manager for blessing me with member points because of my concerns. I would give them another try. We all have bad days. They took it and fixed the problem. Now we just have to work on the Valet.

Great hotel, could enhance for women, a Magnifying mirror for make up, more counter space in bathroom, otherwise great!

Clean and modern place, friendly staff. I'd give the hotel a 3 1/2 stars, almost a 4 star but the counter space un the bathroom area had no consideration that women may have make up, curling irons or items you want on the counter but you do have space at the bottom shelf to put a bag and another con, is no magnifying mirror, that should be an automatic amenity in a room. Love the restaurant on the 4th floor, great food, drinks and vibe. Staff is top notch!

I stayed here August 29 to September 2nd 2021 Very pleased with this hotel. Conveniently located downtown where I had business. Walking distance to nearby restaurants and close to the Suns Arena and Chase Stadium. Very clean and spacious room. The breakfast is great and the staff is very friendly. Nice gym and indoor pool. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

I only stayed here for one night and unfortunately didn't get to take full advantage of my stay because of my fast turnover. During my short experience here I was very happy with the location of this hotel, it is very close to a lot of restaurants and shops. The hotel itself was very clean and well managed. They offer a happy hour and also have a bar on a separate floor that is open until 10pm. They have free breakfast that starts at 6am which was very convenient for me as I had an early flight the next morning. Our room was spacious and very modern, they also have a store downstairs that sells food for you to make in your room. Hope to come back and take advantage of all the wonderful amenities they offer!

This place is AWESOME. The service is really good, the morning Breakfast is REALLY GOOD, and all the staff I have met have been very helpful and professional. I especially thank Jose for his help when we checked in as he was very helpful, and I thank Luis when I had a problem with my key card not working correctly. I really recommend this hotel to anyone.

Maydeline at the Spa was very helpful and very in touch with guest needs. One step ahead everytime. Colin really saved the day with making sure we had everything we needed. Brennan was also really helpful at breakfast and bringing us water all the way to the retreat pool. There was a minor hiccup with requesting ice while we were there but they did take care of it and apologized the next day for it not being done promptly, the acknowledgement was great and it really was such a minor thing. The hotel is inspired by the colorful and folk art influenced works of renowned mid-century modern architect and designer Alexander "Sandro" Girard. The hotel's bio says he was the main source of inspiration for the design of the Andaz Scottsdale. The property is beautiful to walk around, with all the landscaping, flowers and trees; some of them are marked with what kind of plant they are. There are century plants and aloe and various cacti. The fitness center is located at the spa. It has windows which open up onto the pool, which is a more private pool than the main pool. The staff is outstanding. Savannah, who ran the front desk on my most recent visit, is absolutely amazing and really helped with any questions or small issues with my stay. The restaurant is wonderful for the hotel breakfast. I recommend having cocktails there too. You can see a beautiful sunset from the bar. I love the open design of this hotel resort because it makes you feel like you're in the countryside and you can admire the beautiful views of Camelback as you walk around the grounds and hear birds chirping. It's so relaxing. Parking is easy and you can usually find a spot right outside your casita room as the parking circles the hotel. Toiletries in the room smell so good! Lavender with sea salt. It's really like staying in a spa! One of my favorite experiences at this hotel was taking a late afternoon outdoor class at the spa/gym on the large lawn where we did stretching/light resistance training with the the sunset behind Camelback Mountain as the backdrop. It was glorious. I definitely recommend trying one of the classes or "experiences" if you stay here. Some of them you have to pay extra for, but a few of them are included with your room rate. At first glance the hotel interiors and architecture seem extremely simple and minimal, but then you realize it's actually all a piece of mid-century modern inspired art. It's really fun to walk around and admire all the understated design details at this hotel.

The hotel is surprisingly affordable for Scottsdale, clean, well maintained, and has a ton of character. Unfortunately, there were also several things that left me wondering if time is beginning to pass this Scottsdale icon by. Our room was nice, but it stayed consistently around 76 degrees until the middle of the night. Why? Because there appeared to be a single vent pumping out just enough cold air to rival a household fan. I don't need my hotel room to double as a meat locker, but in Arizona, I would at least like the option. Also, being woken up by a leaf blower each morning as the wind whipped around the crevices of the door... yeah, not enjoyable. The pool was nice enough, but surprisingly small, crowded, and the water was hot. For a Scottsdale hotel with the reputation Valley Ho carries, the entire pool experience just felt a little dated and cheaper than I expected. We also paid $400+ for our cabana, only to discover the safe didn't work. At that price point, I expect every amenity included with the cabana to function properly. Now for the absolute bright spot of our pool experience: Alex! Alex was THE MAN. This dude strutted around that pool serving patrons with a smile and a full heart. My wife, our friends, and I were genuinely excited every time we saw him coming our way because his customer service was impeccable. He was personable, attentive, funny, and made us feel like he genuinely wanted us to have a great time. Give that man his flowers. Overall, I understand why Hotel Valley Ho is such a Scottsdale institution. There's history, character, and plenty to like about the property. But between the struggling A/C, questionable soundproofing, small and overcrowded pool, hot water, and malfunctioning cabana amenities, the experience didn't quite live up to the reputation. I don't regret staying here. My wife and I still enjoyed our weekend, and we made some great memories with our friends. I just think the Valley Ho experience sounds a little better on paper than it actually delivers in practice. Would I stay again? Possibly. Would I request Alex if I'm sitting poolside? In a heartbeat.
